Heh, so many people criticising this game and clearly haven't played it. It's a neat little Easter Egg that most people would never have come across. And also, you guys never played Demon's Souls? Try pausing that. You'll have a red phantom's spear so far up your backside you'll reincarnate having to ask people to forgive you for pointing. That's a game where you don't just lose a minute of gameplay. And it's still pretty much the best game of the last generation.
That'll learn her to muck about with her cat when she should be gaming. The games full of neat little touches. Wonder what surprised the main game will bring.
It takes me back to when Portal was in a lot of people's GOTY list back when it was released as part of The Orange Box. That was only about 2 and a half hours long. Maybe rather than a trailer, people should be considering it more along the lines of a short film. I wouldn't really call it a demo either - demo's tend to be excerpts of games that are actually going to come out. This was more along the lines of Ground Zeroes, if anything. And if that can be released as a full game, then P.T. can be considered a full game too. Boom.
Sharrup you lot! You want to make your own lists, your more than welcome.
For my money (or lack thereof, in this case), P.T. is definitely worth mentioning in the same breath as game of the year. It definitely had the best "poop the bed" moments. Personally I felt the finale was too obscure for it's own good, but hey, it's Silent Hill. So points for consistency I guess.
@SuperSilverback to be honest of you're looking for a strong story and dialogue and you pick up any Devil May Cry game you're probably looking in the wrong place.
I'm suprised they are actually doing this as I'd assumed the series had died out, but I am really interested in how this turns out. I had a great time with DmC personally so I can only hope it rekindles some interest in the franchise and we see some new titles down the line. We can only hope.
All I'm going to say is that about a year ago we all ripped Ryse a new one for the same criticisms. Amazing graphics, by the numbers gameplay. I've not seen enough to pass judgement yet, but if this has a strong story it will help immensely.
I think people must be watching different videos to me. So many greys and browns. And the more I think about it, the more disillusioned I get about the gameplay video we saw last night. Everyone keeps on going on about how the great story and setting will save the game from its by the numbers gameplay. Well where were the cool steampunk weapons? Where were the Lycan baddies? All I saw were a rifle and a shotgun and some generic baddies. Mind effing blown. Honestly, Resistance was twice as interesting as this, and that was the launch of the bloody PS3. Drink that Kool Aid, I'm calling this as a straight up disappointment now.
@Storytime7 huh, thought I saw Arkham down as Feb in the presentation. Might be wrong.
Thing that hit me was how single plane the gameplay demo was. Nothing going on above, nothing below. I know it's just a snapshot of the game but a weird on to choose considering it's the time to sell it to a world that Sunset Overdrive proved is getting weary of cover shooters.
"Unfortunately, My Career is an agonisingly drawn out and uneventful affair. In our 17 hour torturous playthrough, we would go for hours without ever encountering a single piece of narrative content, and we never got the opportunity to make a meaningful decision. "
Now you too can see how Cesaro or Heath Slater feels.
Good selection overall. Was damned close to buying Deadly Premonition in a recent sale so glad I held off. People on the Sony forum are really ragging on the Vita picks but I bet most of them haven't bothered to check out the video of Titan Attacks - it looks much better in motion and a lot of fun. I think the other game is brand new, so not sure but it looks interesting.
It's about damned time! As far as I'm concerned Activision can keep Crash. Even at the time he was just a Tazmanian Devil knock off that was thrown together by committee in Sony's 90's cash grab. But Parappa, he was genuinely fresh.
Don't know about the PS4 game, but on Xbox One I tried playing the game before it had fully installed onto the console (HUGE flaw with the XBone, by the way), and first time round it hadn't even loaded the first corridors into the game. I exited the first room and was floating around in deep space! So I gave it a few minutes, but about five minutes in I tried to grab the mission briefing docs and was told that these hadn't been loaded into the game either, so I couldn't proceed any further...
And someone told me this game wasn't just another bug hunt!
@Bad-MuthaAdebis enjoy Mercs - absolute steal for less than £7.
This should help explain why Sony are in no rush to put retail releases up on PS Plus though. If they can still charge over £20 for a launch title like Knack, they won't be wanting to give it away for free just yet.
If Sony can't get their online services up to par they'll undo all the good work they did when launching the PS4. The gap between the PS4 and Xone has shrunk considerably since then, and Sony only have themselves to blame.
There's no getting around the massive change in tact Sony has had with the PS Plus collection in recent months. But the fact that most of these games are cross play means owners of any one system get to play more of the games. And plus, indie equals small install size, so Vita owners will be able to fit more of them onto their cards.
Whilst I was hoping for a title more along the lines of MS's recent Games with Gold offerings, I don't own any of these so I'm pretty happy. I've wanted to play Escape Plan for a while and Blinding of Isaac looks like a must play too.
The premium you have to pay for first access to season pass content is rarely worth it, I find. Telltale are especially guilty of this as in their season passes are always reduced in price before all the content has been released. In the case of The Wolf Among Us they reduced the price even before the second episode had been released! Where's the value in that?
I think the season pass lends itself better to multiplayer games, and as I'm more of a single player without that much time to spend on gaming these days, I prefer to pick up pieces that I desperately want individually (e.g. The Last of Us: Left Behind was a day 1 preorder) and wait for sales on the other stuff.
Case in point - I STILL only have a level 4 TItan in Destiny and haven't even managed to unlock the crucible yet. Buying a season pass would be an incredible waste of money for something I haven't had the time to play.
I hate to say it, but the ship has sailed for me. Don't get me wrong, I'll still download the Plus version it when it's available, but at one point I was pretty sure I'd upgrade to the full blown version, and now it's extremely unlikely. The problem is the delay has coincided with an amazing deal/pricing error for the Xbox One Forza Horizons bundle, which I picked up this weekend. I've only got the time to fully devote to one racing title, and what with Forza being both the more well received of the two and the one that worked it's way into my home first, it's looking like that's going to be the one I'll play.
I'm in the draw - Eurogamer posted a code yesterday that allowed entry. Will have to wait & see. Will be great to go hands on though - it's got some great word of mouth so far.
@Gamer83 That is very true - the PS3/360 generation was the first one where "meta" scores came a thing and it's still an ugly presence, and like you I'm guilty of paying to much attention to that rotten website. It's gone way too far - when developers don't get bonuses because they missed out on a weighted score of 85 by one point you have to say it's counter productive. People should make their own minds up. Killzone is a good example because I've been enjoying it a lot since it's release. I kind of put that down to me not being a huge FPS player and my standards being lower than, for example, a Battlefield fan, but it makes no difference to me.
The exclusive showdown is very much up for debate, but in terms of the flagship racer category, yeah you have to give the nod to Forza. I'm weird though - the one game I want which is Xbox exclusive is Ori, which has next to no buzz around it. Go figure.
Let's hope Sony can sort out their server issues - they'll bloody well need a strong service if they ever want PS Now to take off. Not to mention people won't want to keep paying for online services if they don't work. I agree the current level of service isn't really acceptable - It's not like they haven't had a whole effing year to prepare for this! I think they might need to consider some kind of goodwill gesture if they can't sort this out quickly.
Funny how PSN can survive the biggest ever launch of a new IP (Destiny) relatively unscathed but it's big first party launch all goes wrong. It's times like these I'm thankful I don't work for Sony's PR department, what with the service issues and the reviews for DC being more mixed than we'd all have liked. There's not a huge amount going on with exclusives in the run up toward Christmas either - LBP3 looks like it will be a worthwhile addition to the series, but I doubt it will set the world on fire or revolutionise the series.
But hey, it's not like things are any better on the other side of the fence. TItanfall wasn't the game changer or killer app that Microsoft were hoping it would be, and while reviews for Forza were very positive it still didn't breach the all important metascore of 90 and above. (The distinctively last gen Pinball FX and Rayman Legends are still the only games to have done so). And in terms of big upcoming exclusives, all their hopes are being posted on Sunset Overdrive (from the team who've done absolutely nothing of note since Resistance 3 in 2011). There's the Halo remakes, but I'm not really enthused about playing updated versions of decade old games. This isn't me saying one console is neccessarily better than the other, I'm just saying it how it is.
But one thing I can say for Microsoft is that they don't seem to have a weekly panic regarding their online services like Sony do. It's definitely an area Sony need to improve upon.
As I say, I don't know about NA, but here in the EU our store updates a day later, but it was confirmed last week that the DriveClub Plus download would be available from Friday.
To be honest, given all your negative feedback on the game on the other board, I'd figured you'd already started playing it.
@get2sammyb I'm really no big fan of open world driving games. When I'm racing I want to know where I'm going - I hate having to check a fold out map just to know where the next race is. The last driving game I played that I felt really nailed the formula was Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit - the fact it was the first game to use autolog was no small part in its success, and I think DriveClub builds upon that. Will give the Plus version a go - will reserve judgement until I've given it a few hours play.
I decided a while back I'd treat October as an alcohol free month... seeing as I'd normally spend about £35 on the devil's nectar in one week, this seems like a good enough treat as any to reward my discipline and restraint.
Anyone who hasn't played it on Vita will be in for a treat, and anyone who has played it on Vita should be happy to play it from another perspective. Done deal.
I think Sony are doing the right thing and marketing it for as a neat addition to the PS4 than a way for existing Vita owners to play their games on the big screen. Larger install base and a way to flog a few more Vita games. It's a fairly solid plan - although once again their stubborn reluctance to lower memory card prices is going to cost them dearly.
I still think it's strange that they didn't bring this to the Vita in some shape or form. You'd think with the translation done a port of the non HD version would be a doddle.
@ShogunRok I have to agree with the general consensus and say this is one of the better reviews I've read for Destiny to date.
I guess my only beef with the game is it's not a great fit for someone who can only drop into a game for maybe and hour at a time. If I could drop into a game and be matched with relatively similar levelled characters for a co-op mission it would be great, but I haven't yet managed to form a fireteam because little to no help is given in this regard. It's clearly a game that requires you to put in a time and effort to get the most out of and I'm not sure I have either really. And I do worry that the reason the campaign seems so light is to get players to pony up for DLC. Can't I just pay one price and get a full game any more?
Oh, and I resent having to download a companion app to get the background to the story. Just put the damn thing in the game! Ni No Kuni put a bloody great textbook into their game! It's the least they could do.
Fair enough. To be honest I'm wondering if I should even take the wrapper off until a week after the game drops through my letterbox. What does anyone else think?
By the way, I've been rubbish at adding PSN friends, but I always liked this site and (most of) the regulars that appear on the comments board. Would anyone be up for a PSN ID share so we can do some raids?
I'll be the one throwing grenades at the wall I'm pressed up against.
It's really dependent on having an impeccable wifi connection. It's neat, and I think I completed most of Stick it to the Man when I was on the can, but, and it pains me to say this, when you compare it to the Wii U's gamepad functionality it's not in the same league.

By the way, I've been rubbish at adding PSN friends, but I always liked this site and (most of) the regulars that appear on the comments board. Would anyone be up for a PSN ID share so we can do some raids?
I'll be the one throwing grenades at the wall I'm pressed up against.
Re: Here's a Quick Look At Destiny on Vita via PS4 Remote Play
It's really dependent on having an impeccable wifi connection. It's neat, and I think I completed most of Stick it to the Man when I was on the can, but, and it pains me to say this, when you compare it to the Wii U's gamepad functionality it's not in the same league.
