Although, having just replaced my Vita (my first one got nicked a few months back) and with a 64gb memory card no less, it would be nice to get a retail release on that. Something like Freedom Wars would be good.
@Scollurio 4 player Smackdown back in my uni days was INCREDIBLE! I'd love to be able to get that again, but due to licensing issues I'm afraid there's a 0% chance of it happening.
If I were to hazard a guess, I think the problem with the 2K games are that they treat these games like they need to be an accurate representation of a sport, rather than a spectacle.
I wonder what the costs of the axtra work and actual publishing of the game are versus the amount that is expected to be recouped from the sales revenue?
I'm not even taking into account the ongoing work that is still taking place on the current gen titles...
I think the last time EA gave anything away it was that unexpectedly generous offering at Gamescon when they gave away Need for Speed on PS3 as well as a Vita and PS4 title. It seemed odd seeing as Sony had just blocked Access on the PS4. Havn't seen them do any giveaways since then.
It would be interesting to see how they'd do it if they had launched on PS4. For example you wouldn't be able to have a like for like service on account of Titanfall not being available on Sony systems... I think that's the only real exclusive, but would that rule out those titles being included on the service?
I don't think it offers poor value, in so much as it lowers the value of other services by conceivably ensuring they won't be offered on them. I think the main thing for me is I don't want every games publisher have their own similar services. Ubisoft would definitely follow suit. Maybe even Square Enix. And if everyone is doing it, then all the services are essentially poor value as their scope is just too narrow.
There's been a few games that have tried to mash-up genres and very few of them have actually worked. I think it's a good idea - but someone still needs to find the right way to execute it properly.
I loved the turning speed sentence. Quite Julian Rignall-ish! And that's a great compliment.
I had to say I had fun in the couple of hours I spent in the beta, but I'm not entirely sure I'd pick up the full game. But I do object to spending £50 on a game and feeling like it's not got a full-game's worth of content. This feels like there's a £40 pay-wall to get the second half of the content.
Basically, it's a £90 game. I personally doubt any game is worth that much, but some people might be happy to pay that.
@JamieO yep, have perused that quite a bit Love the old Oz Browne artwork. I was a CVG ready myself at the time, but Mean Machines and later Mean Machines Sega were great. The Sega Magazine and Sega Saturn Magazine issues that followed after Mean Machine's demise were pretty good too. I even made an appearance in one issue as a fresh faced young gamer photographed in a London games tourney. Good to see Rich Leadbetter and Jaz still working over at Digital Foundry and US Gamer respectively.
Nice reference to Mean Machines there. I remember the Game Gear's launch and its headline platformer was its own version of Castle of Illusion - different to the Mega Drive version but just as good. It took another year or so for Sonic to finally make his way there, so Mickey had a decent spell as Sega's flagship character.
Travellers Tales, along with Treasure, made some of the best platformers around at that time. Shame we don't see so much of Treasure's 16bit stuff these days.
@DarthDiggler that's ok. It can always be copy/pasted onto the forum. To be fair Sammy is giving his impressions of the beta. He made it pretty clear that things will probably change before release.
It's fair dos really. It has to be said neither Evolve or Titanfall were the continued successes their publishers expected. At the end of the day I felt both just lack meat. I haven't spent enough time with this to comment, but I can understand some scepticism on this genre.
I'm wondering if this we're coming to the end of the big budget multiplayer only FPS. Destiny is arguably more MMORPG than shooter, and in all honesty has been the only big budget multiplayer success this gen, and other than the Campaign led COD titles, nothing else seems to stick. I ended up sinking more hours into Killzone Vita than I did Titanfall. Even though NO ONE played the bloody interrogation round properly.
STOP KILLING EVERYONE YOU IDIOTS, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO WOUND AND INTERROGATE!
Ouch. The worst part is that I went through the list of fixes and found nothing about the Skellige's Most Wanted bug that makes it impossible to complete. How big you think that patch is going to be?
Background noise for Transformers is very positive. People are pretty hyped for a Platinum Games title based in the G1 universe. If this works out they can start work on a Thundercats game next. Rockstar can get to work on an open world He-Man game too.
@ShogunRok I don't believe I was being disrespectful in the least but as a show of respect to the site I'll end this here - but it was a fair point. It's not a case of goading anyone - Maybe if points like this were actually addressed rather than shut down I wouldn't feel so inclined to argue them. It's frustrating as I'm just trying to get a point across and I'm being treated like an effing troll. Remember respect goes two ways.
@ShogunRok Really? Each time I was replying to another person on the forum and trying to create a dialogue - and at least all the points were valid and I wasn't outright insulting or calling anyone anything. Now I'm getting passive aggressive warnings?
@get2sammyb By the way, if anyone's not keeping track of the scores this very website gave the games:
Broken Age: 8/10 Chariot: 8/10 Unmechanical: 8/10 Kickbeat: 8/10 Kung Fu Rabbit: 6/10
No review for Super Meat Boy yet, but seeing as you describe it as the "highlight" we can deduce it will get at least an 8/10.
Oh yeah, terrible month. One whole game gets an average score. For God's sake how about you show some conviction in your own website before you start ripping the games to pieces? So disappointing.
@Shellcore So many people have gotten the wrong end of the stick with the vote to play promotion, and I'm baffled as to how because it was repeated over and over on the blog and the media at large that it would not be recurring on a monthly basis. They did it to test the water and said it would be an occasional feature, but did not give any indication as to when it would come up again.
@JoeBlogs And another voice of reason has entered the fray!
I'm incredibly disappointed, not just by the needlessly editorialised style of the article, but also with the nature of the comments and how they have been handled here. It's way out of control. I've enjoyed this site for years but I'm on the verge of removing it from my feeds and taking my time elsewhere.
I've got to be honest, PushSquare is starting to editorialise too much. Sometimes I wonder if what I'm reading has been written by Kent Brockman. You already have your soapbox articles where you can give you two cents - maybe you should air your opinions in the right place?
I don't get the problem. It's great for single platform holders. Vita owners get four titles, the other get three. Broken Age, Super Meat Boy and Chariot are all great. Haven't played the others, so can't comment on them. Don't forget anyone who hasn't had a PC or Xbox are basically getting SMB for free on release day and can finally see what the fuss is about. Quit yer whining!
Now you look here Mr Sammy. If you don't know the trilogy well enough to know what this is in reference to you need to jolly well sit down with the box set and watch it until you do! You basically have no right writing in a video games site without a good working knowledge of Star Wars.
Personally I think it's kind of neat. Looks a bit cheap and better in theory than in practice, but my flat is full of ugly boy stuff so it would probably fit right in.
Getting things back on topic - I'm dawdling around the end of the first act of the story mopping up contracts and treasure quests and yet seem to have ploughed countless hours into the game so far. So I guess I won't really be utilising new game plus for a while yet...
Good to hear that they beefed up Nidas to over 1hp in Black Pearl. Too late for me though - after about 20 lengthy reloads I eventually managed to freeze the buggers from a distance before his health bar popped up. Still haven't picked up my reward for that quest. Doubt that it will be worth it.
Side note - It's a real kick in the pants doing a tricky or lengthy quest and seeing "2XP gained" pop up. You might as well have not given me anything! I'd get the same for spending the night with a strumpet!
In all honesty, As great as the game is it never should have been re-released in its own. As a double bill with a remastered God of War: Ascension it would have been a much better value product.
Wouldn't mind reliving the Poseidon opening one more time though.
SO the expansion that can be purchased on the store now - is that effectively the season pass to get access to the expansions due to be released later in the year?
Think this a little harsh as I wouldn't say either was a bad game. But I would have thought anyone who wanted to play these two would have done so already.
This is just how business works. It's the same as how if you don't pony up for BT Sports as well as Sky Sports you're not going to get every televised football match. Or if you don't subscribe to the WWE network as well as Sky Sports you won't get the full WWE experience. If you're serious about playing the big games first, you just have to own every console.

Re: Which December PlayStation Plus Games Do You Desire?
If there's one thing I've learned it's not to try and guess what the IGC will consist of.
The other thing I'm working on is not to get carried away in the inevitable online arguments after they get announced.

Re: PlayStation 2 Emulation All But Confirmed for PS4
So, serious question... Could PS2 or PSOne games be added to PS Now? Theoretically? I can't think of anything that would prevent it...
Re: PlayStation 2 Emulation All But Confirmed for PS4
Looks at Final Fantasy XII PS2 disc. Sighs*
Re: Star Wars Battlefront's PS4 Launch Didn't Quite Go to Plan
^haha.
Saying the response has been lukewarm seems a bit harsh. it's generally hitting the 7/10 area, which I read as good, but not essential.

It's a pretty basic tenant of pro-wrestling that no one ever taps from chin locks. It's disappointing that this isn't taken into consideration.
