Sucker Punch may be hurriedly applying the finishing touches to PlayStation 4 escapade inFAMOUS: Second Son as we type, but the studio did have other ideas in mind. Responding to fan queries on Twitter, the company has pointed out that it considered creating a fresh franchise for Sony’s next generation system, but eventually found the allure of an all-new superhero too tough to turn down.
“Sure, that was on the table,” a company spokesperson wrote after being asked by a follower if it ever thought about making an original intellectual property. “But, in the end, the opportunity to make a brand new hero, story, [and] powers was exciting.” Considering how fun the game looks, we can't disagree with that point.
What’s interesting about some of the platform holder’s PS4 sequels is that they’re all semi-reboots. The likes of Killzone: Shadow Fall and Delsin Rowe’s abovementioned origin story are both set in the same timelines as their predecessors, but they’re so far detached from the original narratives that you don’t need to have played any of the previous entries to get into them. Do you think that this is a smart strategy for newcomers adopting Sony’s latest console? Drain our energy in the comments section below.

I have never played an Infamous game before since I didn't own a Sony console until I bought my PS4 in December. So I'm really glad that I can now take part in enjoying a brand new Infamous game.
I'm still playing the first INfamous after I got it in the Welcome Back package! That's the thing with these Open World games - they're just too f*cking long!
@zeldagaymer93 same here, really looking forward to it.
Pffffffffff still looking and waiting for inFAMOUS on PSVITA
I'm glad they are making another inFamous, I think it was the right choice. I know it won't happen, but after this I want a new Sly game from them after Second Son. Sanzaru did a good job with Theives in Time, but their vision of Sly Cooper was still a downgrade and the opposite of evolution from 2&3. They also just lack a good number of fine and subtle touches that Sucker Punch had. I think that Sucker Punch could do something amazing with PS4 Sly. Nothing that Sanzaru could touch.
I'm a big fan of the inFamous games so I'm glad they've made another. Not that a new IP from Sucker Punch at some point in the PS4's life cycle would bother me either. It usually makes damn good games.
