Having The Wolf Among Us Season Pass discounted is a bit out of order. I bought it on the day of release and we haven't even seen the second episode yet! They should only discount stuff like that once all episodes have been released or else early adopters like will will feel like a yutz. Hope this discount doesn't see the light of day in the EU.
At least there's a marked difference. I'll stick with the PS3 version that I bought on a PSN sale and still haven't gotten round to playing, but I'm seeing this as a nice little teaser of what we can expect from the true next gen Tomb Raider entries.
I've talked a lot about the whole Last of Us ending situation, and I can understand when people say they'd have liked the ability to determine Joel's actions themselves, but more often than not games provide an illusion of choice when in fact the alternate endings are just a con to fool you into playing the damned thing all over again. I honestly think the Last of Us is pretty much the only game that can be considered for the title of Best Game of 2013. Personally I'd even call it the best game of the last generation.
It's tempting, but I think I'll have to fight the tempatation to pick up P4G. Too many games on the backlog as it is, including P3P. Let's shift that first and we'll talk.
Yeah there's no a huge quantity of exclusives coming up for the Vita, but the funny thing is I don't care, because there's one title coming that I would literally ditch any other game on any other format for: Gravity Rush 2. I don't think I'm anticipating any other game half as much. Not even MGS5 - and I'm a pretty big MGS fan!
No cross buy, no buy. (Well, no buy anyway as I got the title via PS plus).
I know it plays a more realistic game of pinball, but I have to say I much prefer Zen Pinball's nutty impossible-in-real-life tables. Fantastic Four remains my favourite, and soon I'll get to play it with a Dual Shock 4 at no extra cost. It's the game that keeps giving.
It could well turn into something better, but as it stands - pfft. Why would I buy something digitally through Amazon when I could do it via the PS Store and get it downloaded straight away. No 87 digit code required.
@Emblem Oh yeah no arguments there. The only defence I can give it is that with Smart Phones being on the rise at that time it wasn't a bad idea to test the waters by developing a mutant PSP (and that stupid Xperia play thing - remember that?) As with most mutants it was a wretched deformity rather than a super-human with laser eyes, but Sony were able to take the experience and learn from the mistakes to make the Vita all the better. And sales be damned I still maintain the Vita is the best handheld gaming option on the market today.
I think Sony are a company willing to take risk on new products, but after seeing the PSP Go die a death, I don't blame them for wanting to dip a toe in the water.
You get the feeling this was the platform game tramp quickly cleaned up, put in a nice dress and brought to the party because the PS4 really needed a platform game to launch with and everyone else had dates. Well... except Lego Marvel. That multiplatform tart.
TLOU ending was masterful. I have zero respect for anyone who thinks otherwise.
My backlog is immense. So many games still in their wrapping. I reckon I'm pretty much good for games right up until MGS5 comes out. And then Uncharted 4 after that.
I like the idea of having an all encompassing, unified entertainment centre, but have to say I'm a bt confused as to how it will all work. It will need to be REALLY intuitive if it's going to work. Frankly, looking at the 360 interface right now, I can't see it happening. For example it currently takes about eight to twelve inputs on my end to watch a film on Sky Player. As a comparison, on my iPad it takes three.
@jonnyeddd Quit yer bitchin'. The EU PS Plus offerings consistently make the US offerings look weak. Sure we get the occasional delay, some games get lost in the ether altogether (CS:GO), but overall I think we get pretty spoiled.
This would be a bonus, but honestly Sony have done enough to keep me sweet.
Beyond is one of those games that's is worth playing as it has interesting ideas, but you'll want to play it once and once only.
Some people would say that if you liked Heavy Rain you'd know what to expect and will probably like this, but in all honesty I'd say that of the two, Heavy Rain is far superior. I actually went back into Heavy Rain to see what other paths I could find through the game. With Beyond I was done. By the end I was sick of the limited gameplay features and even sicker of the mopey, angsty cast of characters.
By all means try it, but bare in mind it will be going on ebay right after you finish.
Nothing for me yet... but then my preorder was pretty late in the day. Shame as I'd snap up the mega bundle. I'm considering plowing through Beyond over the course of a week to put towards a part exchange for Killzone - that should help absorb some of the additional cost I'd have otherwise saved.
I've got three of these on preorder (well, Resogun is on Plus so I'm counting that as a preorder), and I'm sure I'll pick up Octodad and Velocity 2 when the time comes. I'm liking the look of Contrast too.
I'm set for day one. Still haven't decided if I want to pick up any games yet though. Maybe Killzone just to get me started? Or see how the Watch_Dog reviews turn out.
The first thing I thought when I saw it was "Astro Boy". If anything I think they veered towards the Japanese market too much, and with a few exceptions I just don't think the cartoony platformer boat really floats that well over there any more. They'd have done better just pitching their bets on one market.
Have to admit I did a facepalm when I saw the line-up as I'd picked up Far Cry 3 in a Xbox Live sale a little while back. I was foolish to do so as I don't even have a physical copy to sell on now... Still haven't even had time to start it up either! The other content looks pretty good though, so can't grumble really. It does make me think I need to just STOP BUYING GAMES YOU IDIOT!!!!
Well I bought Puppeteer. I hope they can take some comfort from that.
I'm glad (and somewhat surprised actually), that Killzone: Mercs broke top 20. That's not bad for a Vita game all things considered. Though it does beg the question as to when this data was taken... Mercs was released a week before Puppeteer. If We're only accounting for, say, a day's worth of takings for Friday's releases, then maybe that would explain why Puppeteer is so low in the charts. Speculation on my part mind.
I've pre-ordered this - the free soundtrack swung the deal for me.
@MadchesterManc I played the demo in 3D and it works very well - plenty of things flying into the foreground and it gives the stage satisfying amount of depth. The thing is, the game looks so detailed and sumptuous I'm wondering if, in the long run, you'd rather have the increased resolution and detail that comes with the 2D experience...
@Cloud7794 It's just the same game but with PSN avatars for each of the characters added. I'm pretty sure you'd be able to pick up the avatars separately if you really need them.
I got it in a PS Store sale and it's sitting in my XMBG waiting to get played. I'm living in a box room at my parents at the moment while I'm waiting for a flat purchase to go through, which means my 5.1 surround sound system is sitting in a storage locker somewhere... and I REALLY want to hear that Ghibli soundtrack in all its glory! So I'm looking forward to getting into it once that's all sorted later this year.
So much cross-buy goodness this week. J&D, Stealth Inc., and Spelunkey. And Killzone Mercs coming out next week... AND RAYMAN AFTER THAT!!! I do not have time for all of this!
Any update that doesn't give me games I already own is a good update to me, so this is another good month. I do seem to remember the chap from SOny saying at Gamescom that all game s given away by Plus have a metascore of 80+, so seeing Urban Trials is somewhat suspect. It's questionable giving away games so soon after they're released as well - I might have been peeved if I had picked up Stealth Inc a couple of weeks ago when it was first released... it's the sort of thing that's stopping me from getting Hotline Miami. But yeah, as I say I can't grumble.
People think the worst when games gte stuck in development hell. Not without cause, an unreleased game can wind up falling way behind the curve in terms of trends and technology - Duke Nukem Forever is the obvious example of this. But don't forget Ocarina of Time was stuck in development for years before its eventual release... and now it's widely considered one of the best games of all time.
It should give Xbone a much needed boost, even if, as you say, it doesn't lessen the value of the PS4 at all. I have to admit I'm not that excited about DriveClub - I certainly don't think it should be the focus of any major focus other than as an added value bonus. For a start it's not the complete version, so who knows how much extra content you'd need to shell out for in order to get the full game, and the early word is that it''s no Gran Turismo beater, let alone Forza, I'm more interested in the free indie titles coming with plus... but there's no denying I'm not really into the launch line up at the moment.
If this is the first signs of a new focus on providing software skewing towards the family friendly, and apparently young female demographic, it would seem to indicate there's going to be a Vita price drop on the cards to suit it's expanded, younger audience that Nintendo has traditionally held a monopoly over. Or they could just be throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks.
It's definitely on my list. Not sure I want an art book of those voluptuous jabberclackers sitting on my coffee table when I'm entertaining guests though.
It's the debate I go through every time an interesting game is released on the Vita: Do I pick it up straight away or should I wait and see if it will get released as a PS Plus update in the next year or so. Time will tell.
