Re: Poll: Does the Steam Machine Pose a Threat to PS5?

QwarktasticLombax

The steam machine may very well be lightning in a bottle. Its a perfect, pre-built intro to PC gaming designed to appeal to console owners. I’ve owned console all my life and haven’t really had the space or know how for a PC. This machine changes things. If the price is right it could eat into the PS playerbase. Perfect timing for it too. Xbox has seemingly given up, Nintendo’s greed is insatiable and PlayStation is becoming complacent.

I appreciate this a PS sub and nuance is not often that prevalent here but when you look at more general gaming communities the consensus appears to be that whilst its a niche product there is a perfect segment in the market for it.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Gets First Paid DLC in the Power Pack, Out 4th December

QwarktasticLombax

This shouldn’t be paid. These are features that should have been there day one. Nothing here justifies payment. If they introduce a bunch of new licensed cars then that’s a different story but this doesn’t look to be the case. I’m going to say now that these 24 hour races will offer a pathetic amount of credits as a reward too.

Don’t get me wrong, I like this game. There is a good game here but the choices made are very questionable

Re: Xbox Boss Believes Sony's Strategy of Console Exclusives Is 'Antiquated'

QwarktasticLombax

He would say that. Xbox has been seriously lacking in appealing exclusives for years now. I was very much open to the idea of buying a Series X but they never persuaded me. I was tempted by Starfield and we knew how that turned out.

Exclusives clearly sell, ask Nintendo.

Xbox does have the right idea to stay relevant with a focus on publishing. Downplaying exclusives though just comes across as childish, like a kid complaining the game is stupid because they got beat.

Re: That New Digimon Game's Looking Like a Big Hit

QwarktasticLombax

I would imagine its success is partly attributable to disenfranchised millennials who grow up with both Pokemon and Digimon and have been consistently let down by Pokemon’s offerings over the last decade. Each game gets progressively worse and I think people are fed up. Digimon is filling that void.

Re: Digimon Story Time Stranger (PS5) - Monster Taming RPG Squanders So Much Potential

QwarktasticLombax

It would seem the issue is that its linear. If so, then I can discount that as I don’t like open world - I hate that Pokemon is going open world for example. Linear is fine by me, in fat preferred. I played the demo and liked it so I’ll likely get it but for personal reasons I’m not buying any games this year so will likely pick it up in the new year. Review doesn’t discourage me as it does seem a bit harsh compared with other reviews. Appreciate the read nonetheless.

Re: Sony's Convoluted PS Store Refund Process Has Finally Been Streamlined

QwarktasticLombax

I’m generally apprehensive about government intervention and regulation when it comes to gaming but I’ve felt for a long time that there needs to be greater consumer protection across the board for digital services and products. As it currently stands Sony really only refunds if a game has massively ***** the bed and its making headlines about its abysmal state e.g. Cyberpunk and Concord but there are still plenty of games that have problems and fail to meet expectations and players are entitled to their money back. A policy that is more aligned with Steam would be ideal and solve the issue.

Re: Battlefield 6's Open Beta Has Completely Blown Up

QwarktasticLombax

I played it on and off and I really did enjoy it. I admit my MP days are well behind me and I'm way slower and worse than what I used to be but for the games I was doing well and not getting annihilated in I had fun. I found I was doing better after switching cross play off. PC players will always have the advantage over console players in this genre after all.

I do have issues with vehicles being a bit too tanky and too easy to repair. For example a tank edges over a crest, takes a hit, retreats, gets repaired and repeat. It makes actually destroying them pretty difficult. Just wish the vehicles were more resource limited so they get used tactically. I also thought Breakthrough was pretty one sided and it heavily favoured the defenders. The Cairo one seemed next to impossible for attackers. Its not the first time this has happened with an EA FPS game though. I remember back in Battlefront's beta Hoth was almost impossible as one side too. Also when did breakthrough switch to controllable sectors rather than M-COM stations you had to blow up? Seems like you can really struggle to push forward and then have the work negated. It just adds to the disparity especially as attackers have limited tickets.

I really like the cover and drag system as well as the roadie run. Body cams in the redploy screen is a nice touch too. Building destruction is incredible too. Really feels cinematic when your building takes a hit from a tank and you have to run and jump out before the rubble crushes you.

Provided the game addresses the larger issues raised collectively by the fans, it launches in a good finished state without FOMO battle pass nonsense and with good reviews I am likely to buy it on or shortly after release.

Re: What the Hell Has Happened to Call of Duty?

QwarktasticLombax

@PuppetMaster Its not just Microsoft Call of Duty has been getting worse and worse for years. First we got stupid bright and colourful camo skins, the type of patterns that appeal to four year olds now we get completely detached characters and celebrities that have about as much relevance to Call of Duty as double glazing windows have to bread. Perhaps I'm getting old but this FOMO, short attenion span stuff the new generation likes is alien to me.

Re: Round Up: What Was Announced at Summer Game Fest 2025?

QwarktasticLombax

Jurassic World Evolution 3 and Ill are the ones for me. Admittedly I will almost certainly wait for a discounted price for JWE3 as the previous two have not been worth the full price and factoring in DLC dinos it makes sense to let that one simmer for a bit. Need to see all the new features in full too.

Re: Poll: PS5 Fans, Are You Sold on the Nintendo Switch 2?

QwarktasticLombax

I’m put off by the prices. Mario Kart World standard looks to be close to £80 which is insane. Plus the tech demo game costs extra?!

There aren’t many Nintendo games that spark my interest. Sure, I like Mario but not enough to buy a console for it. Pokemon once would persuade me to buy but seeing as each game keeps getting worse there is no incentive at all.

I’m way more inclined to buy a Steam Deck.

Re: Poll: Are You Buying Forza Horizon 5 on PS5?

QwarktasticLombax

I'll likely get it at a discounted price. I've played the FH games before and they are fun but can get repetitive quick and from memory the handling can be pretty frustrating at times. Feels like the cars are on ice. That being said, there's lots of cars, good graphics and its nice to just drive around aimlessly time to time. TDU Solar Crown being the dumpster fire it was means FH can fill that void.

Halo MCC and Gears though - That'll be day 1 as it will be historic day in gaming and despite playing them multiple times in my life I will gladly replay and attempt to plat.
