EA has reiterated that it does not plan on raising the price of its upcoming games to $80, despite some other publishers in the industry already doing so.

Nintendo was the first to put out an $80 game in the Nintendo Switch 2 launch effort Mario Kart World, and Microsoft was going to follow suit with The Outer Worlds 2. However, the latter has now reverted back to $70 ahead of the late October launch to bring it "in line with current market conditions".

For now, at least, EA isn't planning for any video game price increases. In the firm's Q1 earnings call, CEO Andrew Wilson said EA isn't "looking to make any changes on pricing at this stage".

He continued to explain that the company offers "a fairly broad pricing scheme across our various products. When you think about everything from free-to-play through to our premium products and deluxe editions, our orientation is always to capture the full spectrum of pricing so that we can serve players in the best way possible and offer them the greatest value."

This lines up with comments from Wilson made in May, where he pointed out EA wishes to provide "incredible quality and exponential value for our playerbase" no matter what price the product ships at.

With an arsenal of very popular PS5 sports games and single player titles like the upcoming Battlefield 6 and tactical experience Star Wars Zero Company, it holds the keys to some of gaming's biggest franchises. For now, at least, these titles will be priced at a maximum of $70 for the base version.

"We'll continue to look at opportunities to deliver great value to our players through various pricing schemes over the course of time, but no dramatic changes planned yet," concluded Wilson."
