"Would have made for an awesome SP game"

@Ashbo, @AhmadSumadi, @playstation1995, @KippDynamite.

There's already been a single player of this called Thief!

Seriously, this looks great but poor Johnny no mates me will need to team up with strangers as all my friends are either Xbox or PC gamers, not one of them has PS5/PS4.

Profondo

@LordSteev

"If, on the other hand, you appreciate complexity at high levels, with no prerendered stereotypes, and a complex, living and breathing world"

C'mon hyperbole much? This BS is what got CDPR into this mess in the first place, overselling and hyping this game when they knew fine well it had massive issues - no environmental damage, NPC pedestrians that look the same, NPC's that behave horrendously when carnage is going on around them is NOT "complexity at high levels" or a "a complex living and breathing world". Far from it...

When games released decades ago can deliver things that CDPR's modern game can't then something's seriously wrong. There's no "complexity at high levels" here, only disappointment and unprofessionalisim, and tech that's bettered by games decades old...

Re: Outriders (PS5) - Great Combat? That's a People Can Fly Game

Profondo

Bulletstorm was enough for me I think and this just looks more of the same. Terribly voiced, macho "gun-bro" games are not my idea of fun, perhaps I'm getting too old or I just prefer something more cerebral and taxing for the brain. The combat system sounds like it's hardly unique either - Bloodborne had outright up-close offensive combat with a mechanic to gain health from slain enemies (albeit within a limited time frame)...

Re: Resident Evil Village Still Looks Stunning on PS4 Pro

Profondo

@wiiware Yourself and @Tharsman were repeating these comments about the "rumours" on here without a shred of evidence to back it up. The game is NOT a PS4 game and marketed as a PS5 game - it's made for the new consoles and scaled-down for the legacy consoles. The REngine was created for it's scaleability and adaptive qualities.

@Latex The game is releasing with VR...

Re: Resident Evil Village Still Looks Stunning on PS4 Pro

Profondo

@wiiware @Tharsman

These "rumours" are completely unbelievable. There's ZERO problems with resolution or framerate on PS5 (or PS4). Resident Evil 7 ran at 2240x1260 60fps on PS4 and PS4 Pro (the high frame-rate was required due to the games VR support). Whilst the Xbox One struggled at 60fps 1080p and lower quality textures.

If the previous game could deliver those results on legacy hardware, there's absolutely no reason it can't do so again, and also deliver superior results on the new consoles.

Re: Balan Wonderworld Contains Potentially Dangerous Flashing Imagery Before Day One Patch

Profondo

@Deadhunter Like Cyberpunk before it these sequences include flashing sequences, and especially with Cyberpunk where the sequence resembled the patterns produced by medical devices used to intentionally trigger seizures so yes it IS by design (and a journalist suffered a Grand Mal seizure playing CP whilst reviewing the game) as it was placed into the game by the designers even if it's a glitch, they created it.

I'm not saying they're doing it for jollies but companies should be more aware of whatever the hell they're putting into games. If a child suffered a seizure they may not get off as easy as myself or said journalist.

Re: Balan Wonderworld Contains Potentially Dangerous Flashing Imagery Before Day One Patch

Profondo

Are they taking the fecking piss? Is this meant to be a "gift" announcing this on Epilepsy Awareness Day? First CDPR with Cyberpunk and now this lot? You do NOT and I repeat do NOT put sequences in your game that can trigger seizures, it's damned irresponsible and reckless.

I'm 52 and was diagnosed with Epilepsy 2 years ago having never suffered it previously, and my main worry (after my health) was that it would affect my gaming - thankfully it hasn't, because I've managed to avoid instances like this that seem to purposely (by design) trigger seizures. Game designers need to get a grip and realise they're embedding dangerous sequences in their games before someone is seriously hurt!

This looks great fun and the music is catchy as hell, I'll be looking out for this when the time comes...

@TrueAssassin86x "Looks like Medievil RDR/Saints Row"

It looks nothing like either of those. This is top-down isometric and those games are 3rd person action titles, not even the art style is similar. The nearest you could get is it looks set in the same time period as MediEvil.

Re: Silent Hill, Gravity Rush Director Collaborating with Famous Japanese Creator

Profondo

@ThroughTheIris56 The Last Guardian like the previous Team Ico games was a little masterpiece. Fumito Ueda, like Hidetaka Miyazaki is a genius who creates amazing artistic games. Despite those sales of 1.3 million The Last Guardian definitely lost money as it was in development for 9 years, Sony continued with it as they believed in Ueda's vision - he signed with Epic Games in March 2020 for an unannounced game that started development in 2018, so we'll likely see that around 2026!

Don't be ridiculous! It's been in development since 2017. From started on it after the Ringed City DLC for Dark Souls III. We'll see it at the end of this year or the beginning of '22. There's also a separate team at From making another game being overseen by Miyazaki - hopefully this will be Bloodborne II...

Oh dear when will I learn from picking up games from unknown studios on launch day? I went for this on PS5 for £33 which I thought was a bargain having been impressed by the trailers. After reading this review I'm now having second thoughts. It arrives today along with Hitman 3, I'll give it a chance to see if there's enough to warrant a full play through...

1. Outbreak (5 games in the series).
2. Infliction Extended Cut.
3. Observer System Redux.
4. Werewolf: The Apocalypse

All say hello!

*Back to the game in the article: this looks beautiful, dripping with foreboding atmosphere and unique, it's certainly got my attention. I don't think I've seen anything quite like it before and as horror is my favourite genre I'm definitely going to give this a try. I hope Michel's rewarded for all his hard work with a successful launch.

Re: Ghost of Tsushima Fans Think the Game May Be Coming to PS5

Profondo

@deathaxe The Last Of Us was released at the very end of the PS3's lifespan (June 2013) and a remastered version was released (full price) for PS4 (July 2014). I reckon we'll get a full phat physical PS5 release of Ghost and TLOU Part II (packed in with the first game and the multiplayer). A double-pack of the Horizon games when the new one releases and another (complete) Uncharted Collection! (The Nathan Drake Collection is six years old now). We know a Bloodborne remaster is coming and I reckon that'll be packed in with Bloodborne 2 - we know From Software are working on 2 games at the moment, Elden Ring and Bloodborne 2 has to be the second title

Sony will want to bring all their legacy titles over to PS5 (and of course we'll pay for them all again!)

Re: Custom Black PS5 Consoles, Controllers Will Be Available to Pre-Order This Week

Profondo

@hbkay Again, not really scalpers. They're putting time and effort into making these and charging an extra $149 ($40 for the controllers). Scalpers would be selling PS5's with $600+ on top of the RRP...

@The_Pixel_King BT and EE look as if they're getting some stock tomorrow and other retailers are saying they'll have them on the 12th and 14th of January...

Re: Custom Black PS5 Consoles, Controllers Will Be Available to Pre-Order This Week

Profondo

Looks lovely but I'm okay for now. Initially I ordered the black plates from the company that Sony came down on as I didn't think the PS5 fitted in with my furniture and TV cabinet (all black, Ikea). But now I've had some time with it and it's also in it's place in my TV unit, I love the white colour now.

@hbkay

"No better than the scalpers imo"

C'mon this isn't in the same league. It's only an extra $149 and these guys have actually put some professional work and time into this. Scalpers on the other hand are just interested in ripping off fans by offering goods at a huge mark-up.

Re: Ghost of Tsushima's 60FPS Boost on PS5 Is Simple But Super Effective

Profondo

@FatHedgehog Perhaps you'd like to watch it again? A direct quote from the DF video:

"Beyond unlocking framerate, PS5 looks essentially like PS4. No improvement to resolution either. We're still at 1800p chequerboard. Level of detail, texture quality, it's all the same. This is a pure performance increase but a profound one"

So @finalstan (and his friend) are seeing increases in resolution on PS5 that aren't there (and Digital Foundry confirmed this in the above video). And now your claiming I should watch the DF video which actually CONFIRMS what I've been saying to finalstan all along?! 😳

Re: Ghost of Tsushima's 60FPS Boost on PS5 Is Simple But Super Effective

Profondo

@finalstan Sorry but are you playing a completely different game? The snow looks great in GOT and the game is certainly not "blurry" - it outputs @ a beautiful crisp 4k HDR on Pro and 1080p on the legacy machine. If it looks blurry then perhaps it's your TV that's the issue...

@Dr_ENT Sony will no doubt pack in the multiplayer with the PS5 release of TLOU Part II. A different team at Naughty Dog were working on it and they said it would be released separately (than the PS4 version). This won't be free, remember the remaster of Part 1 was released full price for PS4 - Ideally they could do a pack with a new remaster of Part 1 with all the bells and whistles PS5 could bring to it!

Re: Game of the Year: #1 - The Last of Us: Part II

Profondo

@Col_McCafferty You must be mistaking me for someone else. TLOU Part II is not only my game of the year, but also game of the generation and I stated so in my comments further above. Obviously you don't read all comments and go steaming in on people with the wrong impression.

Re: Game of the Year: #1 - The Last of Us: Part II

Profondo

@Texan_Survivor You have a cheek calling anyone a fanboy. Of the 22 posts you've made here since joining, 12 of those are about trashing TLOU Part II, Naughty Dog, Neil Druckman or SONY. Give it a rest, it's like an echo chamber. We know you don't like the game.

Re: Game of the Year: #1 - The Last of Us: Part II

Profondo

@velio84 I'd wait for the (inevitable) native PS5 upgrade for TLOU Part II. It's just about guaranteed and will look even more stunning (It'll no doubt be packed-in with the multiplayer). As for Bloodborne? Yup that too is a best kept secret for a PS5 upgrade with new bells and whistles.. .

Re: Devil May Cry, Dragon's Dogma Director Teases New Project, but 'It's Still a Long Way Off'

Profondo

@nessisonett What the hell happened to that? It looked incredible and more Soulsborne is fine by me. In early 2015, Kazunori Sugiura stated in an interview with 4gamer that the vision for the game had expanded since its initial 2013 reveal, to better appeal in the long term to players, and so the development timescale had been extended. In June 2018, Capcom extended the trademark for the game. So it looks like it may still be a thing.

I always thought the graphics looked to be pushing PS4 hard, so think what this will look like on PS5...

*Oh and I'm in for Dragon's Dogma 2. The first one was fantastic and such a wee underrated game...

Re: Game of the Year: #1 - The Last of Us: Part II

Profondo

Well deserved IMO. Naughty Dog deserve all the accolades for this, it was a technical marvel and there's nothing that can hold a candle to it in that department. The acting and mo-cap were top of the range too. I thought Ellie's revenge story was going to go another way (with a different character killed) but when I realised what was happening and experienced it, it was a major WTF moment and I felt like I'd been hit with a ton of bricks (much like Ellie felt). The violence is not glamourised or sensational it's raw, brutal and shocking and you feel bad killing folks (mostly) apart from The Rattlers (I slaughtered those evil SOB's with glee!)

I went through every emotion imaginable in my playthrough (an emotional wreck at points!) and it's commendable for the writing team creating these characters and situations you actually give a damn about. Even the little side stories - reading letters, diaries etc was heartbreaking at times and worthwhile straying from your path to find. I initially hated Abby (for what she did) and was horrified that I was then playing as her - it certainly messed with your head until you learned more of her back story...

It's certainly not a feel guid experience but it's a damned fine one...

Re: Game of the Year: Liam's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2020

Profondo

@Gaming365247 FFS you just can't let it go can you? As I said, you are antagonistic, confrontational and baiting.

6.8 million sales in 6 months for TLOU Part 2 is NOT a flop regardless how you see it, and sharing charts from Japan are irrelevant as pretty much all western games don't fare well there. Now off you pop petal as I've already spent enough of my precious time with you.

Re: Game of the Year: Liam's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2020

Profondo

@Gaming365247 The difference was (and you know this fine well) I'd mentioned my enjoyment of TLOU Part 2 twice, whereas the other commentator went on and on and on like a broken record in EVERY single comment he made. What you didn't like was my pointing out to you that TLOU Part 2 wasn't a flop despite you claiming otherwise.

What I say stands. In just about every comment on here you're antagonistic, confrontational and baiting and I'm sure I'm not the only member on here to notice this.

Re: Game of the Year: Liam's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2020

Profondo

@LiamCroft I'm sort of the same about it. Whilst I totally agree with some commentators that GOT is stunning looking and plays like a dream, it kinda left me a bit empty. The swordplay didn't really have much force behind it and the characters and story didn't really anchor me. Still it's a beautiful game and one that I'm glad to have played, it just won't stay with me or have as much a lasting effect as The Last Of Us Part II.

@Gaming365247 You're just baiting people and being antagonistic. Only two weeks ago you accused me of being a Schill for Sony and Naughty Dog when I stated I enjoyed TLOU Part II and it was my game of the year.

Re: Game of the Year: Sammy's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2020

Profondo

@Rob_230 I'm with @Milomaine Start as Royalty class (chose the Providential Ring as starting gift) and you receive the Silver Catalyst and Rapier, you also begin the game with both Soul Arrow and the Fragrant Ring (which recovers your MP a bit at a time). Level up your magic and intelligence and get the Crescent Falchion sword from world 4-1 - it's a brilliant starting sword that levels up with magic, you may die a few times whilst trying to get it but it's worth it. Check for a guide on wiki on how to obtain it and then get OUT of 4-1 as you'll be underpowered (for now!). Guid luck and have fun as it's a superb game when you realise it's mechanics...

@Uromastryx It's going to take longer than Jan-Feb to sort this mess out (according to Digital Foundry). Whilst it's not affected me personally as I was waiting for the physical native PS5 version as I didn't want to play backwards compat. I feel sorry for those players on the legacy machines that have been seriously let down by CDPR. I am looking forward to playing it once it's finished and out for PS5.

My top 3 are (nearly) the same as Sammy's with Ghost of Tsushima in place of Dreams. Tsushima looked stunning but the only let down for me was the characters failed to anchor me. Demon's Souls is another superb remake by Bluepoint, building on what was in place by From Software and improving it in every way, the new music, sound FX, Haptic feedback and graphics making it a firm favourite for me again.

TLOU II is my game of the generation and I realise it'll drive people right down the middle for years to come. It was a beautifully realised world pushing the PS4 to it's limits (can't wait to to see what Naughty Dog do with the inevitable PS5 upgrade). It was adult gaming and storytelling at its very best. There's not many games out there that can provoke emotion like this game did for me (I cried on a few occasions), but I felt every kind of emotion available - anger, relief, rage, upset, sadness, disgust, fear, satisfaction, relief, compassion etc, for a video game to instill that is incredible IMO...

Re: UK Sales Charts: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Grabs Christmas Number One, Cyberpunk 2077 Slips to Third

Profondo

@Gaming365247 Maybe so but it's not the flop as claimed by yourself. 4 million sales and a further 2.8 million digital sales in 6 months doesn't strike me as a failure.

@fR_eeBritney See above^ nearly 7 million. But of course the first game has been out for a longer period (hence lifetime sales) and the remastered version was also released for PS4. TLOU II still has legs to run and there'll be more sales when the remastered version comes out for PS5 (guaranteed - and to be paid for much like the first game).

For the record I thought TLOU II was a masterpiece. It was technically brilliant and there's still nothing out there that looks & performs so well. It pushed the PS4 to it's limits (much like the first game on PS3). It was emotional, heartbreaking, brutal, relentless and superbly acted and written. Very few studios make contemporary adult video games and Naughty Dog are one of the few to take risks.

@jess3a3 There you go again throwing the word genius around like confetti. Why you continually schill as a cheerleader for CDPR is beyond me, you're even wishing for game journalists to lose their jobs (including those here at Push Square) that's not really very nice is it? (especially considering the current climate). You then claim to hate all gaming websites (including Push Square). If it's so unpleasant for you why do you continue to post here?

Re: UK Sales Charts: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Grabs Christmas Number One, Cyberpunk 2077 Slips to Third

Profondo

@jess3a3 Respect for what? Lying to people about the state of the game, releasing the game when they knew fine well it was a broken mess? You seem to throw around the word genius like confetti when discussing CDPR, I can think of a few that are more apt...

@Gaming365247 The Last Of Us Part II wasn't a flop it sold over 4 million copies in it's first 3 days alone, making it the fastest selling and best-selling PlayStation exclusive launch of all time...

Ha! Me too. I bought an extra Dualsense, Pulse Headset and Media Remote and thought I'd just get by with some USB-C charging cables. By the time I changed my mind they were sold out everywhere. Madness, I think this is the first time (certainly in my experience) that accessories have sold out as well as the consoles...

@LP64000 Yup me too, all my furniture is black (Ikea) and I hated the looks of the PS5 initially and thought it would stick out like a sore thumb (especially in my TV unit). Instead it fits in rather well and I've grown to love the design.

@Hurblyburbly
@KilloWertz

Guid on you guys for scoring one with a minimal mark-up, there's not many people on eBay that don't want to rob you blind by charging £800/$1k...

@jmac1686 And as I previously mentioned you aren't spiting anyone, your just an anonymous avatar on a comments section. Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Aiming to Be a 'Playable, Stable Game without Glitches and Crashes'

@Northern_munkey Then on the same token you have to ask where was Microsoft with certification for Xbox and PC? This is NOT Sony or Microsoft, it's all down to CDPR.

And not getting hysterical about this because enough has been said already but jeezo, CDPR have destroyed their reputation with this and it won't be repairable damage. As for the state of the game? it's going to take a lot of firefighting to bring it back under control. It should have been a great time for them releasing this after working on it for so long, not this absolute disaster...
