Re: CD Projekt Red Apologises for Hiding Cyberpunk 2077 on Base PS4, Makes Refunds Widely Available

Profondo

@wiiware Oh please get a grip of yourself! Naughty Dog did NOT "lie" about the game (or it's contents in ANY way, shape or form. There was indeed an embargo on story points that reviewers were forbidden to discuss, but that was just to leave those as surprises for players, what would have been the point if you knew that a certain person was killed? It would have taken away the power and emotional set-up if you knew those story beats in advance.

And as for playing as Abby? I thought that was a masterstroke by Naughty Dog! We were meant to have HATED this person and what she had done, yet playing as her gave that opposite view. And no, there wasn't a "true protagonist" in the game, there were two and if Naughty Dog had shown this in the trailers it would have spoiled massive parts of the game.

BTW the trailer released last week was a "thank you" from Naughty Dog to the fans (after winning so many game awards) showing Abby's "journey" in the game not the "true" trailer that you imagine!

So they knew that the previous gen versions had issues? (remembering they'd have been current gen if CP77 had met its release dates) yet covered up and held back screens and gameplay? And there was me thinking CDPR were one of the more honest and "for gamers" companies around.

Someone at CDPR should seriously STFU! as each time they talk about this they dig a bigger hole that erodes any positive perception that people previously had of the company. This isn't just about money, it's about how gamers feel about CDPR as a whole...

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Hovers Around 720p on PS4, Drops As Low As 15FPS

Profondo

CDPR when this was delayed last time should have had a longer delay to sort this out. It's completely unacceptable to release this in such a state, and it'll cause CDPR more damage than a delay would have.

And it's a damned shame, as to quote Digital Foundry:

"But let's be clear from the outset - it's always been our contention that this is a next generation game, and our concerns have always been around the challenging but necessary base console versions. Let's be clear here: this is a demanding game that simply doesn't work well on seven-year-old console hardware. Give Cyberpunk 2077 the horsepower it demands though - and you're in for something special"

Now THAT quote my friends is the attention that the game should be getting, not what's doing the rounds. These guys have worked hard on this thing for years (including crunch) and something along the line has went seriously wrong. Was Covid-19 a factor? Quite possibly. But whatever has went wrong CDPR need to fix this quickly (which of course will mean more crunch). Can that even be done with us being just around the corner from the holiday period?

Re: Oddworld: Soulstorm Sneaks to PS5, PS4 in Spring 2021

Profondo

I bought the previous 3 games on Switch just to have physical copies of them in my collection. Lorne Lanning is completely eccentric (and talented!) and he and his Oddworld Inhabitants team are superb visionaries and now they've had a serious cash injection to bring those visions to fruition (Lanning has said on record, cash-flow was always a problem over the years)

This looks to surpass anything they've done to date, it looks absolutely beautiful and you'll be guaranteed there'll be nothing like it out there, and you'll have a HUGE grin from ear to ear whilst playing it!

Welcome back Mr Lanning (and Abe!)

Re: Evil West Is a Supernatural Western From the Makers of Shadow Warrior

Profondo

I loved both Shadow Warrior games but I find this, Evil Dead and Back4Blood (the new "Left4Dead" also trailered @ the Game Awards) too brash, in your face, full of colourful explosions, stupid buddy "chat", aimed at those with a low attention span - I could go on.

These don't seem like horror games to me and more action-like aimed at the COD crowd - I adore the horror genre and I'm excited about the new Resident Evil, the new one from the Dead Space developers, and The Medium (when it's XBox exclusive deal finishes). Perhaps I'm just getting old, less forgiving and settled in my ways, liking what I like...

Thoughts ladies and gentlemen....?

Re: The Next Dragon Age Gets an Ominous New Teaser Trailer

Profondo

@Niktaw This looks like they may be going for a "reimagining" as at this stage they're just calling it Dragon Age not DA4. Be interested in how this pans out, but Jeezo Bioware, sort out the character animations as I don't think that's the fault of the Frosbite engine (assuming of course they're using that)...

Re: CD Projekt RED Responds to Cyberpunk 2077 Epilepsy Concerns

Profondo

@ellsworth004 I'm 51 and was diagnosed with Epilepsy just last year, out of the blue. It can happen to anyone at anytime in their life. My seizures were originally thought to be heart related until I got a proper diagnosis.

Back to the game and CDPR - I'm glad that now it's been brought to their attention the studio will do something about it. This wasn't done maliciously and shouldn't be thought as such. Kudos to CDPR for stepping up so quickly...

@Subsided I've just read your deleted comments via email addressing me. What a hateful, intolerant individual you come across as.

Re: Hitman 3 Gameplay Trailer Tours the World of Assassination

Profondo

Looking guid. As far as I gather if you have copies of the previous 2 games all missions from those will be attached to this tarted up with bells and whistles (much like they did with the first one going into Part II).

@Peach64 Got to agree, brilliant move and giving players that choice. I still can't fathom why Sony haven't introduced an upgrade to PSVR for the PS5 yet as the way it stands going forward (for now) only PS4 games are compatible. A new version MUST be coming soon, next year maybe when it hits 5 years old?

Re: Epileptics Should Take Note Before Playing Cyberpunk 2077

Profondo

@nessisonett That's the most vile, despicable, heinous thing I've heard in a while. Sometimes I really despair of my fellow man.

@deathaxe Damn I hope you get sorted out soonly. The night ones are the worst for me, when I get up in the morning I feel absolutely exhausted as if I'd never been to bed.

@TG16_IS_BAE Thanks bud. Yeah I'm bloody well glad that sites like Push Square have covered this as it could have been disastrous. I do hope that news gets out further afield, not to cause CD damage, but just so folks are aware and can turn their heads away or such until it's patched. It's obviously not been done maliciously and just a bit of a boo-boo!

Re: Epileptics Should Take Note Before Playing Cyberpunk 2077

Profondo

FFS what on earth were CD thinking of? This is HIGHLY irresponsible. My Epilepsy meds are not working as well as they should and I normally see my Neurologist every 3 month, but because of the Covid-19 situation I haven't seen her since March so I'm having more seizures than usual. If I'd have fired this game up it could have caused untold damage to me and you bloody well bet I'd have sued the arse off them! This needs patched as a matter of urgency!

Re: Days Gone Is Trending on Twitter Because of Cyberpunk 2077

Profondo

I've not even played Days Gone yet! I have a serious backlog of games on PS4 (and now PS5). As a single guy with disposable income I buy a lot of games on release date and they then join the backlog - by the time I get round to them any quirks and bugs will be sorted out and I have a stress free playthrough...

Re: Feature: Our PS5 Predictions for The Game Awards 2020

Profondo

@JohnnyShoulder That's why I said Bloodborne 2 (albeit with the first game packed in as a "Special Edition" with some bells and whistles). Bloodborne was released in 2005 and it was a big hit for From and Sony, they'd be mad not to do a sequel. As I said earlier, From Software have two teams working on two different games, one of which is Elden Ring, and the other is.....?

Re: Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us 2 Battle for Player's Voice Win at The Game Awards

Profondo

Complete crap that these idiots are pushing for Ghost of Tsushima just to take the (well deserved) lead from The Last Of Us Part II. Stupid little boys that hated the idea of a (well written) trans character in the game and the fact that Joel was killed. The story and acting in TLOU Part II was superb and the tech was stunning and pushed the PS4 to extremes (much like TLOU did for the PS3).

Joel's death was heartbreaking but was needed to give us the narrative for Ellie's destruction and revenge. Both games introduced emotion into games that I had NEVER experienced before, I actually cried a guid few times with both of them. Naughty Dog changed gaming forever with mature adult storylines and characters you actually gave a damn about (that's what made Joel's death so devastating).

Ghost of Tsushima is a guid looking game and it plays well with some wonderful tech, but the storyline (for me) felt a little hollow and the characters for some reason didn't connect. It's definitely the lesser of the two games vying for the top spot...

Re: Feature: Our PS5 Predictions for The Game Awards 2020

Profondo

Elden Ring AND Bloodborne 2? (remember From Software have two teams working on two separate games at the moment). Bloodborne Remastered will be packed into the "Special Edition" a la Miles Morales?.

The Last Of Us Part II on PS5 with a packed in first part and multiplayer (for value, although it will be £70/€70!).

Another Uncharted Collection to coincide with the movie? Including Part 4 and Lost Legacy? Having them all on PS5 would be a shrewd move by Sony bringing them all over to the new console (and of course getting people to buy them again!)

Re: Sony Backs Single Player Gaming in Leaked PlayStation Documents

Profondo

And this is why I continue with Sony as they make and support some incredible AAA single-player blockbuster titles. I'm glad they're continuing down this route going against the "trends" as they know what their player-base wants. I've always seen Microsoft as catering more to the online COD crowd and Nintendo Switch for family/party games...

Re: Godfall PS5 Patch 1.04 Out Now, Fixes a Load of Issues

Profondo

Bloody hell that's one serious batch of fixes! I'm one of those who bought this on release day (I got a physical disc for £50 with a discount code) but have yet to play it. Of release day games I bought this, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Sackboy, Demon's Souls and the Ultimate Edition of Miles Morales. So far I've only played Demon's Souls which is superb, so by the time I get round to the other games any issues will be sorted out with patches...

Re: EA Sports Responds to Footballer Rights Row Exploding on Social Media

Profondo

His team (who pay him an extortionate fee) "owns" him whether he likes it or not (he, after all, signed the contract with them). All this smacks of is downright greed and I don't think he'll get much sympathy or public backing, especially at a time when millions of people around the globe have lost their jobs and livelihood and are on the bones of their arse, whilst he, on the wage he commands is bleating for even more money!

Re: PS5 Stock Available at Costco Canada, But It Comes with a TV and All the Accessories

Profondo

@theheadofabroom You'd love it here. We're a very welcoming lot and you'll get used to the rain! We'll definitely vote for Indy next time - the British Government can say they won't allow it all they want but they can't deny our democratic right (we'll see them in court). Brexit was the final straw for us (we voted to Remain in EVERY single constituency and it was ignored).

Anyhoo back on topic that's a great super bundle I wonder if they'll do so elsewhere? (luckily I have a PS5 coming on Thursday with extra controller headset etc)

@MrGawain that's incredibly unfortunate, I have PS4, TV, soundbase and headphones and find they compliment each other well with no issues.

Re: Demon's Souls Fans Wonder What's Behind This New Door

Profondo

@malbhet Sorry but Bluepoint have added new content. There's new armour, rings, shields, weapons, grasses, new items to trade with Sparkly The Crow, music and sound FX. And as for saying "illusory walls were first introduced in Dark Souls, not Demon Souls" sorry but that is also incorrect as there's two in The Shrine Of Storms and now Bluepoint have added a further one!
