Tried all three on PS4 and only Galak Z has survived an initial play. BroForce seemed pointless and didn't like controls (maybe better suited to a keyboard, I don't know) and Flame Over was just awful at everything. Possibly the worst month of PS+ in a long while.
@Boerewors Core gamers hated the Wii? How do you figure that? It was home to some excellent games, admittedly the majority first party, but it can hardly be blamed for the influx and increase in pricing for DLC and season passes. Many indie developed games are starting to increase in price, and I think that were it not for the DLC market, most AAA titles would be £60 or more. The additional content model is effectively subsidising the current £40 pricing point.
Hats off to Sony, no longer displaying pricing in their Store Update posts is an inspired way of avoiding the outcry over differences between currencies.
If your electric goes out for a day, yes you get compensated (spoilt food in freezer). Should Sony feel obligated? Probably not, but it makes sense from a customer service point of view and isn't going to cost a packet to give all subscribers an extra day for this outage.
Seems odd that it's often Western game developers that get accused of lacking originality or retreading the same tired ground whilst lists like this get such a positive reaction.
I'm sure I'll buy a couple of the games mentioned but style & genre wise it's hardly inspiring!
Bought it but just couldn't get to grips with it, felt no desire to persevere and so back to the shop I went to shamefully trade it in. All these words of praise and endless accolades tempt me to try again but have a nagging feeling it's just not for me.
@Kidfried it's a news item, not an opinion piece and so is reported as such. If it isn't frame rate or 720 vs 1080, us gamers will always find some trivial matter to quibble over! All that really matters is Fun or Not Fun (although 4k is really the way to go!)
@john_c Do you mean Valve? Can't see that happening! I struggle to think of any developer who would benefit from the status and are making ground breaking games.
@TomKongPhooey I agree that PS Store pricing is not competitive with physical purchases, more so in Europe I think, so what made you go digital-only now?
@whizzkidd you're not alone, have never been able to find the appeal of this or the Souls games. It's not the difficulty that puts me off as much as the opaqueness of the whole experience. I keep trying to find what so many others find so special but just find it a joyless task and don't want to admit defeat by trading in, like I did with Dark Souls!
I'm amazed how the save game files are so small, with so much going on. No major bugs, crashed once whilst moving furniture, few frame rate drops but not much else (touch wood). Feel the game throws too many features at you in a short space of time and for once would have appreciated a few tutorials!
@RawShark Scores of 7 for such a high profile release don't exactly scream "must buy" and I get a sense from reading a few reviews that it is a bit of a let down.
It'd be nice if discounts and sale items had their own heading in the mobile browser store. Always have to open the desktop version of site, on Android anyhow.
I feel that if Ubisoft were serious about altering public perception of them as a company, they'd be allowing reviews of certain prominent releases to be up prior to release.
Don't drive! Can't afford a car and keeping up with all the games coming up or already out! But I'm sure that not all finance people are untrustworthy, just like not all coffee shop workers.
Apologies if I was one of those that spammed you. It would appear that Sony give little thought to how these features and applications interact with one another. They're not alone though, the PS4 Netflix app neglects to include second screen capability which often results in me cursing as I get up and walk the 6/7 steps to gather my controller...
@DominicanGlory I don't know, from trying the demo I get where they're coming from. If that's representative of the complete package, I'd have gone with 6 or 7.
@Donald_M I just meant that if a PS Plus subscription is more or less mandatory for PS4 owners, then PS Plus discounts on games are not really discounts. Made sense in my head anyhow, less clear in front of me!
@Pipr Does the US not have a comparable sales tax to VAT in the UK? And is there not a PS Plus discount for the States also? In all honesty, PS Plus discounts are misleading now that a subscription is more or less mandatory for PS4 owners. A universal store for all, that factored in exchange rates would be my dream solution!
@get2sammyb So 15.99 USD but 15.99 £ ? Regardless of the quality of the release, European PS Store users have got to start boycotting these releases until parity of pricing returns.
Seeing as it's a team game, not sure why they focus on one or two individuals. As these are released on a yearly basis, why not feature the FIFPro World XI. Or a selection of the FIFA officials who've been found corrupt that year?
It would be good if these regional based sales were opened up to all markets, might get Sony Europe to up their game if customers started spending their money elsewhere.
Might just be my imagination or a sudden improvement in my eyesight, but text seems bigger than prior to patch. No explanation of what the new control is or does, although maybe it pops up once you change it in settings?
The challenges may be different but I'd disagree that it takes less work. And would the number of people who frown upon having several episodes of the game 'in the bank " outweigh the number of people who hold off on buying the product until all episodes are released? I just feel the planning of episodic games needs tweaking. If you know what you're paying for and when it will be released, you can't complain. Just choose whether to buy it not.
For this episodic structure to really succeed, timely release needs to improve. Imagine if the same "not this week, maybe next" approach was applied to any big TV shows, I doubt people would stick around. It's also strange that streaming services such as Netflix now release full seasons of shows, ditching the episode drip feed that is becoming more widely used in gaming. But then Life is Strange...
What happened to 1.06? Or maybe my eyesight is just failing, I'll have to check when I get home.
Thinking of starting again, missed a few notice boards near start which means I get near to no XP for completing them and maybe the new control method will help me in battles, cos I'm rubbish!
I think it's great that these updates are coming thick & fast but quite a few of the fixes ought to have been there from the start. Wish the suggested route was more visible on the mini map though, can be difficult to make out. Best PS4 game though for me and best game in some time on all formats.
@RicksReflection Calm down there, your link to an opinion piece, which is pretty much debunked in its comments, was nothing but ignorant and lacking insight itself. I was not attempting to troll or anything of the sort.
Suggesting that the processing power needed to run a game on PC in Ultra at 60fps and in 4k is influenced by the PS4 is fanciful.
I wasn't overly impressed with the Microsoft presentation, feeling it lacked actual gameplay from most titles and just felt what was shown was increasingly generic and formulaic. However, I was expecting even less from Sony but came away surprisingly optimistic. I felt there was more actual gameplay on show and there were a few creative risks, such as Dreams (currently unexplainable) and that Uncharted demo made Tomb Raider look even blander after that oddly familiar piece of gameplay shown by Microsoft earlier on. My heart does sink every time "exclusive content" is smugly revealed, usually by the least convincing "gamer" from whichever company is presenting. In this area I feel we are being played by developers, publishers and manufacturers alike and it leaves a bad taste in the mouth. "Mines got more levels than yours" makes everyone look childish and just encourages the more extreme "fans", regardless of their console choice.
Nothing really tempting, Diablo isn't much of a discount when you consider the RRP the Store starts from is overly inflated anyhow. Also, seeing some of the same titles at lower prices in the "Big Discount" for PS3 just adds insult to injury!!
@Gemuarto Give the guys a break. All I've read from you on this game has been of a negative nature, at times I've wondered why you are even reading the articles. If you have any extra advice, why not just suggest it without the snark?
