@Th3solution I bought it cheapy cheap over Xmas - it's really really well done, you use your phone to control what's going on... great production values / acting and a steal a this price!
... so I fired it up for the first time over the weekend since the beta release... good god there's some quality content in there.. and to be able to experience it all in VR? Absolutely amazeballs... This is basically going to kill all the £5-£10 shovelware on the PSVR store (and that's a GOOD thing!) I've been saving the MM-created stuff for when VR goes live... I want to experience the 'creator' stuff first time on VR! Hopefully ready before Nioh 2...
.. I haven't fired this up since buying it in early access and getting totally bamboozled! Time to fire it up again... let's hope they patch in VR asap! (surprised it wasn't mentioned at all in the review)
... I reckon a "Resistance" remake / master is on the cards... still have fond memories of that... I remember getting Resistance, Motorstorm and Eye of Judgement... kept me going forever... ahhhh PS3 was something special...
... I think 'next gen' is going to reveal very different directions for a lot of companies... I think Sony will kind of "go their own way" - similar to how Ninty has done - nobody really sees Nintendo a competitor to either PS/MS - but they're still incredibly successful / popular.. I do think the next battle is for streaming gaming (and hopefully VR) - but I don't streaming will be viable for at least another 5+ years (internet speeds are nowhere near ready yet) no harm in MS getting ready for it now though! Personally, I'd just like them to get rid of load times and ensure all games are at 60FPS (especially console racers) - then I'd be happy!
... wow... firmly on the radar now... was going to 'wait and see' - especially as I only just finished the first a few weeks ago (3rd attempt!) as long as you can still "slow" enemies, then things will go just fine...
...Code Vein was really amazing, it was a lot easier than DS (but still a decent challenge) - however it did get slightly repetitive towards the end and once complete, I have no interest in revisiting via DLC (it's short-lived but excellent whilst it lasts!) ... Sekiro is still THE best DS-alike, the verticality, and soooo difficult (until you learn how to parry and when to dodge!) even then... oooof, it's a killer! (loved every minute, cannot wait for the inevitable sequel!)
.. on my 3rd install of this game (I remember buying it and taking it back because it was 'unfair'!!!) xD I literally just finished it last night... thoroughly enjoyed it actually, despite getting 2/3 through twice before!
.. doesn't look quite the progression I was hoping for story-wise... it'll be a while before I pick it up (the inevitable sale) - after Sekiro - the lack of verticality really hurts all other 'Souls' games... nothing compares to Sekiro... made me scream with frustration until I learned how to parry / deflect...
.. if we're talking "wants.." for me it's got to be resolution and tracking... the graininess of the picture kills all immersion (especially racing / games that let you see long distances)... and yeah.. 15 year old move controllers and a camera that got bundled with Eye of Judgement just doesn't cut it! xD
... I've had my PSVR since day one... (V1) and I'd definitely lay down cash for a revised version... especially if it's less cumbersome - the HDR pass-through is worth it alone (V2 already has this, I know)... A bit lighter and with the enticement of better res (even using old moves for now until PSVR 2.0 comes along) - I'd be cool with that! Especially at perhaps a £149ish price point?
... I bought this last year via early access... after a few hours getting to grips with the creation tools, I kind of gave up... it's SO complicated, but equally SO impressive... unless you have literally dozens of hours to learn and slowly create, then (like me) - it'll still be worth purchasing just for what others can create (much more talented people than myself!) - and for the (hopeful) wealth of VR content (alas, not on release though)... there's some amazing games already in there and I can't wait to play byte-sized mini-games with the PSVR!
...I think for the launch of a brand new console, you should take every opportunity to show it off - that way it stays in everyone's consciousness... MS will go to town on the new Series X - I think PS5 is going to have a serious fight on its hands next gen... Game Pass is in place, MS has bought a bevvy of new studios (amazingly talented ones) and is poised for a slew of exclusives - with the power to back it up... they failed hard with the original XB1 - overpriced, with kinect, all the talk of digitial only, TVTVTV, etc. - but there's no denying that XB1X is the best console currently (power-wise, 4K disc support-wise, Atmos-wise, TV passthrough-wise, etc.) and there's no reason to think they're not going to build on this... I think Sony are resting on their laurels a bit too much... (having said this, I'll be upgrading my Pro to a 5 as the jump will be bigger than XB1X to XBSX) and avidly waiting PSVR 2.0!
.... my thoughts are that I'm not getting any PS4 exclusives this year - and waiting for PS5 - because undoubtedly they'll "soup them up" (spice them up?) for the PS5 release... Games like Ghosts and Legion and Cyberpunk will no doubt be "enhanced for PS5" - so I'm going to wait... try and spend 2/3 of this year mopping up my backlog...
...WHY?!? For goodness' sake.. I ruddy LOVED the original - I don't want to play it again though... Jesus, it's like every game gets a remaster every few years - this is a really bad, cheap pattern that's emerging... have developers really run out of original ideas already?!?
.. the issue I have for PS5/PS4Pro currently is value for money... I have both Pro and XB1X - and there's no way I would get a cross-platform game (currently) on Pro (as it's not as powerful, doesn't run as well, etc. etc.) - so they lose out there... their version of Game Pass is a joke (nothing beats the value of Game Pass, it's just extraordinary value, the speed at which new comes are available is just bonkers)... and their 'exclusives' are dwindling... sure it's got PSVR (love, love, love) - but that too is showing its age and getting less love these days... If you're a gaming fan, no doubt you'll get both Scarlett and 5, but, it's in which order and which one first?
For me the PS5 day one just isn't a good proposition, re-hashed "5 improved" games that have already been released, a poor gaming subscription and no real standout exclusives (apart from Spidey / Ghosts of Ts - and it's likely they'll be released on PS4Pro) - so Scarlett (which is likely to be more powerful than 5) has the edge already...
To me it feels like PS has become a little complacent over the last couple of years, and they're going to get burned badly with the next gen war... I have no doubt XB will leap over PS next gen to take the crown again (and then after that, PS will step up and leap over XB) - but you can already see how stale PS4 is becoming - no real change to UI, reduced PS+ offering, fewer PSVR titles, higher price PS+ / bad value Games Pass, fewer exclusives... whilst MS snaps up so many studios ready for the next gen war... and a truckload of exclusives that are often available day one without purchase... it's going to be an interesting couple of years!
... it's basically a dog-barking simulator.. god-awful.. slow walking, confusing wandering... been there, deleted that... (free on Game Pass).. if I hear that dog bark one more god-damn time...
.. I think the future of gaming lies in SCALE.. for sure graphics are going to get better.. but it'll be the 100 car pile-ups and battle royale games / war games with 100s of people (in factions, etc. perhaps) and that kind of thing that will really make gaming exciting... imagine dogfighting in space with 100s of tie-fighter style-ships all in squadrons, etc. - surely this (and of course VR!) is the future of gaming... not flashier graphics and SSDs..
.. I don't know why but I've always had a soft spot for the NFS franchise... Payback was fun for a while, but then the grind / lootbox / micro-transactions stopped you from progressing and it killed it for me... now they've promised no upgrade cards, but not mentioned no micro-transactions (to my knowledge) - so I'm waiting on this one... I can't trust EA after the 1-2-punch of Battlefront 2 / NFS Payback...
..end of an era - I've had so many friends around and drunken nights in playing this - it was great for its time... but, like so many things, people move on... a great product of its time... (I had all discs until I got rid a few years ago)...
... surprised this is getting such glowing reviews... it's so badly written (not essential, but incredibly laughable), looks like a 90's game (not in a good way), and it kind of just ended (don't go into 'that room' yeah there are multiple endings, but I don't think it's worth the time)...
Have to say it didn't feel so much a homage to CV as a creation from someone who hadn't moved on from an incredibly rigid game design... Much preferred Salt & Sanctuary / Dead Cells...
... this isn't a great start I don't think for PS5... certainly not enough to warrant handing over £500+ on new hardware and a couple of rehashed games... If they delayed the likes of Last of Us 2 and Ghosts, even Death Stranding - and made these PS5 exclusives - then we'd be talking - but the fact they'll already be out and played to death and done and dusted (and people will have 'moved on') it's not a great start at all...
... all it needs is far better resolution and processing power (which I'm sure the PS5 will provide) and of course some kind of better motion controller complete with joysticks so you can walk and shoot, etc. etc. without using the aim controller or some daft motion tilting thing... nail this and it'll be an absolute smasher... (and get rid of wave-shooting shovelware / 30 minute games for £20)
... Ouch... Mostly remakes, sequels and 'improved re-releases'.. Apart from 'Ghosts' - very little to warrant a day one purchase... especially as most games will be on PS4... these titles aren't worth forking out £400-£500 for... (before re-purchasing the games...)
.. I reckon it's a "Lair" remake - using only the new dual-shock tilt / rumble feature to control the dragon... (yeah, I bought that too at the time.. they patched it fortunately). Either that or Tony Hawk: Ride (peripheral-tastic)
... it's good to hear.. they just need to ensure Atmos support, etc. etc. - all the basic stuff the XB1X/S launched a year or so ago... they really do need to hit the ground running with this... Game Pass on XB is easily the best subscription service going (it's stunning value)... and with all current cross-console games playing better on XB1X - it's going to be a tough sell.. There simply won't be enough content I don't think to justify getting before Xmas 2020, and to be honest, I may even wait until PSVR 2.0 is announced / released (and that'll be a few years into it I think)... People who have Pro / XB1X like myself - I just can't see there being enough tech / software to fork up £400/£500 for a couple of games on release... :/ Forget the hardware, it'll be the exclusive games that sell PS5 - and they'll need some huge bangers to warrant purchase...
.. I remember importing this into the UK... I knew nothing about it apart from a friend saying "you must get THIS!" - it was genre-defining... imagine no hype, not knowing what you were getting into.. and then experiencing a tough-as-nails, distilled version of Dark Souls... it was one of the greatest gaming moments for me.. that and Eye of Judgement... PS3 was just awesome... this generation, not so (apart from PSVR)... and with Xbox snapping at its heels... apart from a few exclusives (Spidey 2, etc.) I don't see PS5 winning next gen either...
.. I still remember facing those skeletons for the first time... and running past that dragon... and.. and... and... If you haven't played it - it's essential. Would I want to play a remaster? No thanks. I like my memories just the way they are...
@Arnna Heyyy, no need to get personal - I didn't mention I've just played the demo - anywhere... I asked people to play the demo for themselves to judge it... it's a day one purchase for me (and that day is today, and it's amazeballs and the sheer variety of skills, etc. gives it SO MUCH replayability) - I'm not obsessing about the score, everybody's mileage will vary, I'm just disappointed that the vast majority of PS's reviews seem to be 7/10 - it always feels a bit of a cop-out.. that's all - hey - I praised the 8/10 Tropico 666 review earlier... everyone's entitled to an opinion, never any need to attack others... peace out... chill your boots... etc. etc.
.. ahhhhh the inevitable 7... predicted this in the recent preview... it's worth more than this... try the demo for yourselves... disappointing review..
.. been playing this on Xbox for months now, it's awesome - looks so much nicer than 5 (and is a LOT tougher and more in-depth - easily the best in the series since the leap from 2 to 3...) get the "Mysterious Cities of Gold" soundtrack on in the background and be prepared to lose hours of your life!
..yeah.. sounds a bit too similar to the first... (especially the technical issues)... I enjoyed the first one, but it was the ridiculous difficulty spikes, seemingly for the sake of it, and the overall lack of 'love' given to the gameplay / player.. kind of reminded me of DS2... mechanically all there, but ironically no 'soul'... and that's what this series is lacking... Code Vein it is then! (which had better score more than a 7 on this damned site!)
.. I bought the beta a few months ago... and I've gone through a lot (some?) of the tutorial(!).. it's really involved... and from some of the demos / experiences on there it's going to be REALLY good fun... the fact that it'll be fully VR-integrated too shouldn't be ignored - it'll be the PSVR killer time-waster if nothing else...
... looks good! (shame about the length though) thoroughly enjoying Dead Cells myself at the moment... maybe after a break from that I'll move on to this...
.. if it's anything like Salt & Sanctuary, I'm in! (probably a little more arcade-y, but who cares?!?) with this and Code Vein all we need to do now is... praise the sun!
.. tried it last night.. you know what... my first impression was "God Eater vs The Surge" - but once you complete the demo and get to go into that first dungeon... it becomes a LOT more enjoyable (and you can really practice against monsters to see what the combat's all about)... loving the loadouts and different styles.. sure it's got a LOT of similarities to the DS franchise, but it brings a lot to the table too... and combat feels good (if lacking a little impact)... ahh and the good old backstab is still there... classic...
.. I think Anthem gets unfair bad press... I remember getting it on launch weekend and having an absolute blast.. it's great-looking, the flying / hovering / shooting action is really slick and.. whilst the story lasted.. it was great fun! (with some genuinely memorable characters) but the clincher was the end-game content - it was pretty poor... alongside some incredibly bad load times and a non-existent loot / shop / cosmetic hook.. interest waned pretty quickly... I'm going to fire it back up again though with this update... flying around and thwacking enemies with your oversized shield as a hulkbuster never got boring...
I've always loved the aesthetic of the GG games... but my god they're soooo difficult to play... move sets and controller combos that are nigh-impossible to pull off (unless you have 15 fingers and the reflexes of a gazelle) maybe this will be the one to bring in a new crowd? (like MK11 has done... streamlined the combos but still made it tough to master for the die-hards)
@Dodoo - I totes agree with this, why on earth would you criticise a game for being released on a completely different console 6 months prior? I don't (and many others too I imagine) don't have a Switch, so it's a moot point... I haven't played Days Gone yet but when I do, it won't matter that every else has 'played it to death' already.. what's that got to do with the game itself or its quality? It's a poor perspective to review from... :/
I think the PSVR will be remembered for a handful of amazing titles... Rush of Blood, Astrobot, RE7, Firewall, and Blood & Truth... these are worth the price of admission alone... and even more content? can't ruddy wait!
Picked it up over the weekend... lovely gameplay as you'd expect.. online is shocking though (d/c if host loses and quits out) and there's almost zero people playing online... swapping it tonight... (shame as the single player campaign was really fun)... a nice little weekend racer, but nothing more... :/ (if there's a Blockbusters near you, give it a rent...)
I enjoyed the first (up to a point) - but it was wildly spikey in difficulty, and it just felt a bit 'by the numbers' - there wasn't a lot of love poured into it I didn't think... bit generic... I preferred Lords of the Fallen myself (as a Souls clone)...
..sweet Jesus., I've just completed it... it's taken a good couple of weeks... but I finally managed it... as a big fan of DS, etc. I have to say it's a worthy successor... I do think there is a little too much reliance on 'mid bosses' and probably a few too many bosses in general... but it's sooooo rewarding... It did feel a little like a slog at times (rather than fun)... but I have to say, not having multiplayer really meant having to learn the bosses (that Genichiro difficulty spike in the middle of the game teaches you everything you need to know...) frustrating and brilliant...
.. just purchased now in UK (17/04) - so must be a lot of copies to go around... sad that VR option isn't here... but at least it gives me time to get used to new UI / toolset... I'd really like to create something like Theseus (PSVR)... I thought the RE-style fixed camera angles and over-the-shoulder perspective worked really well... hey, I'd also like to do a PSVR version of Donkey Kong... the sky's the limit!
.. I mean you only need to look at the developers' Facebook page to see how unhappy purchasers are with the game (and yet I'm strangely drawn to it every time it's on sale for £15 on PSN Store..) but to charge existing customers for this extra content is simply disgusting... especially considering the state of the game on release and the continuing issues players are having... I wouldn't be surprised if they change this policy (or maybe because they've already had such a backlash, they don't care...) :/ for me? nope, I wouldn't touch it with yours after this...

Re: Demon's Souls Remaster Rumours Just Won't Go Away
Re: Code Vein - A Friendlier, Fashion-Conscious Japanese RPG in the Vein of Dark Souls
@Arnna Heyyy, no need to get personal - I didn't mention I've just played the demo - anywhere... I asked people to play the demo for themselves to judge it... it's a day one purchase for me (and that day is today, and it's amazeballs and the sheer variety of skills, etc. gives it SO MUCH replayability) - I'm not obsessing about the score, everybody's mileage will vary, I'm just disappointed that the vast majority of PS's reviews seem to be 7/10 - it always feels a bit of a cop-out.. that's all - hey - I praised the 8/10 Tropico 666 review earlier... everyone's entitled to an opinion, never any need to attack others... peace out... chill your boots... etc. etc.
Re: Code Vein - A Friendlier, Fashion-Conscious Japanese RPG in the Vein of Dark Souls
.. ahhhhh the inevitable 7... predicted this in the recent preview... it's worth more than this... try the demo for yourselves... disappointing review..
Re: Tropico 6 - Dictator Simulator Brings The Goods
.. been playing this on Xbox for months now, it's awesome - looks so much nicer than 5 (and is a LOT tougher and more in-depth - easily the best in the series since the leap from 2 to 3...) get the "Mysterious Cities of Gold" soundtrack on in the background and be prepared to lose hours of your life!
Re: The Surge 2 - Great Combat, Genius Ideas, and One Too Many Issues
..yeah.. sounds a bit too similar to the first...
Re: Sony Has a '10 Year Vision' for Dreams, One of Shuhei Yoshida's Favourite Projects Ever
Re: Blasphemous - An Unholy and Triumphant Metroidvania
... looks good! (shame about the length though) thoroughly enjoying Dead Cells myself at the moment... maybe after a break from that I'll move on to this...
Re: Blasphemous' Launch Trailer Is Bloody Gruesome, Out Now on PS4
.. if it's anything like Salt & Sanctuary, I'm in! (probably a little more arcade-y, but who cares?!?) with this and Code Vein all we need to do now is... praise the sun!
Re: You Can Now Download and Play the Free Demo for Code Vein on PS4
.. tried it last night.. you know what... my first impression was "God Eater vs The Surge" - but once you complete the demo and get to go into that first dungeon... it becomes a LOT more enjoyable (and you can really practice against monsters to see what the combat's all about)... loving the loadouts and different styles.. sure it's got a LOT of similarities to the DS franchise, but it brings a lot to the table too... and combat feels good (if lacking a little impact)... ahh and the good old backstab is still there... classic...
Re: Catherine: Full Body - The Definitive Catherine Experience
Ha! As I was scrolling down I thought "bet it's a 7"... you don't disappoint PS!
Re: Control - Was Remedy's Return to PlayStation Worth the Wait?
... sigh... does this site give anything other than a 7 these days? :/ always seems a bit of cop-out...
Re: ANTHEM 1.3 PS4 Patch Finally Adds Cataclysm Event, But Nobody Seems to Care
Re: A Brand New Guilty Gear Is Coming in 2020, and It Looks Absolutely Jaw-Dropping
Re: Wargroove - Pixel Art Turn-Based Tactics Finally Invade PS4
@Dodoo - I totes agree with this, why on earth would you criticise a game for being released on a completely different console 6 months prior? I don't (and many others too I imagine) don't have a Switch, so it's a moot point... I haven't played Days Gone yet but when I do, it won't matter that every else has 'played it to death' already.. what's that got to do with the game itself or its quality? It's a poor perspective to review from... :/
Re: Free Update for PSVR Shooter Blood & Truth Adds New Game Plus, New Challenges, More
I think the PSVR will be remembered for a handful of amazing titles... Rush of Blood, Astrobot, RE7, Firewall, and Blood & Truth... these are worth the price of admission alone... and even more content? can't ruddy wait!
Re: Team Sonic Racing - It Ain't Mario Kart, But It's Good Enough
Picked it up over the weekend... lovely gameplay as you'd expect.. online is shocking though (d/c if host loses and quits out) and there's almost zero people playing online... swapping it tonight... (shame as the single player campaign was really fun)... a nice little weekend racer, but nothing more... :/ (if there's a Blockbusters near you, give it a rent...)
Re: The Surge 2 Slices and Dices PS4 in Late September
I enjoyed the first (up to a point) - but it was wildly spikey in difficulty, and it just felt a bit 'by the numbers' - there wasn't a lot of love poured into it I didn't think... bit generic... I preferred Lords of the Fallen myself (as a Souls clone)...
Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - From Software Doesn't Sacrifice Difficulty for Accessibility
..sweet Jesus., I've just completed it... it's taken a good couple of weeks... but I finally managed it... as a big fan of DS, etc.
Re: Guide: Dreams Early Access - Dates, Times, and Everything You Need to Know
.. just purchased now in UK (17/04) - so must be a lot of copies to go around... sad that VR option isn't here... but at least it gives me time to get used to new UI / toolset... I'd really like to create something like Theseus (PSVR)... I thought the RE-style fixed camera angles and over-the-shoulder perspective worked really well... hey, I'd also like to do a PSVR version of Donkey Kong... the sky's the limit!
Re: The Terrible Tennis World Tour Repackaged for Roland-Garros
