@JoeBlogs - I think you're 100% right! Great way of thinking about reviews! (I've loved games that have been SLATED by reviewers) but for some reason I still get annoyed when reviewers mark games down unfairly or are critical for the sake of being 'different'... :/
... remember all reviews are subjective... for example, Eurogamer used to be THE place for reviews, but whatever's happened to them recently, they've gone right down the pan... you always have to take reviews with a pinch of salt and tally it with your own likes / dislikes in a game... nowadays there are more demos, betas, trials, etc. than ever, so more often than not you can try before you buy, making reviews even less important than they once were...
... strangely looking forward to this... dipped in and out of the series for years... still waiting for the one that 'clicks'... bring back Kessen!!! (loved the Gundam versions!)
... I think we'll have to wait for Tennis World Tour(?) from some of the people behind Top Spin 4 - what a game that was, so tricky to get into, but once you did, it was sooooo rewarding (and exciting)... this looks a bit shonky (and something to tide tennis fans over until the main event?) although I suspect TWT may be a bit low-budget too... but as long as the gameplay holds up - all else can be forgiven!
@DLB3 - nobody's attacking anyone, it's just eye-brow raising that a) the title hasn't been changed like you say and b) it was reported before any facts were established - nothing wrong with holding one's hands up and saying 'yup, got it wrong, we'll do better' - a far better position than trying to argue the toss
@LiamCroft - I guess you know by reaching out to Zoink to see if it's a typo / incorrect description or not? No? Fact finding before reporting? No? Anyone? :/ sorry, but surely you ask if it's a typo before reporting about "confirming your fears"? (which were inaccurate)
.. why wouldn't PushSquare reach out to Zoink before coming to these conclusions and worse still writing an inaccurate article like this? basic journo 101 surely?
... like many here... I echo the sentiment that nobody wants it to fail... but how have they not learnt anything from D1? I maxed all three characters within a week or so on D2 and then there was literally nothing to do after that bar repetitive raids... :/ ... the minimum D2 should have been was containing the same amount of content that D1 GOTY version had.. instead of a complete reset and bare-bones features...
... yeah, this is just an XB Elite imitator (I got one of those bad boys for Xmas, my goodness what a beauty it is, weighty, changeable bits and pieces and FOUR EXTRA BUTTONS underneath!) Elite Dangerous has never felt so good! (and am I right in thinking all of the PS ones are wired only?) absolutely bonkers. Nevermind this nonsense, make a new PSVR controller for goodness sake!

..if you think the PS Store is bad, you should try out the Xbox / MS Store... sheesh - it's fragmented, clunky, slow and soooo difficult to find things... sure the PS Store isn't perfect by any means, but (and especially online - via PC, etc.) it's a million times better than XB's offering... :/
..I remember buying the original many years ago (full-on metal it was - I got the brown version, gorgeous piece of tech).. it always got confused with the colour red... (you could link it to your pc and use that as a webcam too) - and it could read cards (like Eye of Judgement)... those were the days...
.. such a shame re: game length, this was high on my radar... again (like most PSVR titles) I will have to wait for a half-price sale, etc. to justify purchasing this... this is one of the main reasons my PSVR is often left unused... high prices for way too short 'experiences'... let's hope 2018 brings more substantial PSVR gaming... :/
@RogerRoger - loving the username btw! yeah, I'm not sure on this - I'm not brilliant at it by any stretch of the imagination, but I prefer the 'earning' of heroes, etc. than a token floating around (which can be farmed) - aaaand - if you work together you double your points, and I always seem to have enough for a super trooper (lights are always shining) when I need one... I think the heroes need to be OP - because there are so many bottlenecks (after the MTU section, after the AT-AT section, etc.) it often becomes impossible to break through normal ranks... I personally think balance is good overall - I do like the idea of timed heroes though - a hero for 2 minutes or whatever... that would enable a good rotation and prevent player domination...
... I know it's easy to hate on BF2 - but the sad thing is that there's a really good game screaming to get out and away from all the loot box horror... in-game is now a LOT more generous with the rewards (I earned almost 2k from one game - shows how quick you can now purchase heroes, etc.) and with the new faction system and new maps, etc dropping any minute... I hope they don't re-introduce microtransactions (they inevitably will) - and I hope they learn, learn, LEARN from this! (the beauty of all this 'generosity' is that virtually everyone will be on an even keel by Xmas - so it won't matter if they do re-introduce paying for loot boxes) - there's only a finite amount you can win!
..I wasn't sure, but this is looking good to me... in fairness, I thought it looked / played well... not too slow for me! (I remember Top Spin being overly fast sometimes!) very interested in this now... it's been too long!
@KingSandyRavage - everyone has their own opinion, and you should respect others instead of the childish "hahahas" to everyone... I think it's a clever system, and they've already published that players prefer to use it as a handheld over docked (which makes sense, as it can't compete as a home console against XB/PS) - and this is where I think Ninty have missed a trick... The initial bundle should be £200 and games should be RRPing at around £30 - I'd jump at that - but when they're charging £50 for the 100th iteration of Mario Kart and for a scaled-down, years-old version of Doom, etc. - it isn't going to wash...
Bearing in mind the WiiU was such as catastrophic, underpowered release - Ninty fans have been clamouring for anything decent - and whilst still very poor in the battery / grunt / controls stakes (all documented online) - it's doing well because there's no alternative... and of course they're cannabilising their own handheld market, as who would want a 3DXL, etc. when this is out?
I think when they make the next, cheaper, slightly better iteration (as they always do) - and the first-wave games, like Zelda, etc are £25ish - then will be the time to jump on board.. until then... it's definitely a wait and see for all consolers who already have XB1X / PS4Pro / PSVR (like myself) - but I'd certainly like the clean sweep!
... my issue with the Switch has always been the price point - games in particular - RRPs of £50 for effectively handheld-quality games (and many are old ports of games we've already played)... ON TOP OF the cost of the multitude of accessories needed (memory card, pro controller, etc. etc.) - for the same price of a Switch and a small handful of decent games you could buy a PS4Pro AND an XB1S... it's simply not worth the money unless you're a die-hard Ninty fan...
...zero gameplay anywhere so close to release date is worrying... definitely a 'wait and see' - but to my mind I doubt it'll get close to TWT.. so might be worth holding off... (fingers crossed though!)
..it's a stark contrast to the Microsoft Store - I think their sale will start 19th(ish) of Dec and run for a couple of weeks tops? Surprising they don't do similar promotions tbh... you get some fantastic deals on PSN...
..I suspect this whole tranche of releases were designed under the same microtransaction ethos - every release having them fully baked in... obviously EA didn't expect the BF2 fallout... either way... it's still pretty scummy, and I do think BF2 will be my last EA purchase... I think it's time to make a stand against them.... there are far more worthy games, developers and publishers out there...
..they'd rather violate the customer than the canon... HAVING SAID THAT... a) having played it now for a good while... yes I've noticed it's laggy... b) it's shocking how few people are online - I couldn't start a heroes vs villains game several times (it only needs 8 people and there's only 5 online modes) c) levelling up classes requires cards that you could have purchased with real money (I didn't quite get that until recently) - so it was SO pay to win it hurt... IN ANY CASE, $3billion off their shares or whatever it was surely is a lesson learned - don't mess with gamers! It's still super fun though... just the worst progression system I've ever witnessed (in the history of man / woman / child / animal)
..I enjoyed D1, but D2 was a boring, sprawling, repetitive mess that felt like padding quest after padding quest... gave up after a few hours... glad to have jumped on board XB1X - at least there's 2 chances a month for some quality games! (Vermintide and BTTF will do nicely this month)
..only PS3 game I ever imported and knew nothing about it when I got it (apart from it was making ripples as one of the best RPGs ever...) it didn't disappoint... I still have it tucked away somewhere... :/ running past that dragon for the first time... classic.
..I played it to death for the first week... completing the campaign with all three classes and levelling them all up to about 290... but then it was like "is this it?!?" - you could do the weekly tasks / rewards within an hour or so, leaving you to grind the same few raids over and over again... I part-exed it shortly afterwards getting the same value that I'd bought it for... which means I 'may' get it again in the future when it's more complete... but currently, there's so little to do at the end - there are better / other games vying for your time that are more worthwhile (I'm loving Fortnite PVE currently - not the BR bit - can't get enough of building up my fort and rescuing survivors!)
..such a big fan of the 'souls' series... and I did complete BB (and loved it) - but I did miss the shield aspect and never really got into the gun / parry mechanic as much... it just felt a bit too twitchy... maybe showing my age here though! (and of course I'd purchase a sequel on day zero!)
@Anchorsam_9 - so a lack of 4-player modes means a 4/10? and how many karaoke games have a 4-player mode!??! (that are of the calibre and have the back-catalogue of Singstar? I'd argue none...) come on, I know it's a tough call changing scores, etc. - but clearly this one reason can't mean a 4/10 - you listed 2 songs you liked (both rock) - clearly you're not a fan of pop and this has had a direct impact on the score (which it shouldn't) - no harm in admitting an error of judgement... :/ 6/10 or even 7/10 is probably more fitting (with the caveat that mileage may vary on whether you like the songs)
@naruball @get2sammyb - I think the review of this needs revisiting - the game is technically accomplished, probably providing more options than ever before, and as far as 'singable karoake' tracks - there's an awful lot of crowd pleasers to suit all ages on here (whether you like them or not is irrelevant) - and think this really stands out as a bad score for no good reason...
...here's the full tracklist (oddly omitted from the review).. there's a nice balance of old and new on there... it looks like it's been scored harshly because of musical taste, rather than the actual game itself... :/

...I think the good news about them removing transactions NOW is that it gives everyone time to get to an even level... if in 3 months time they re-introduce them - then it won't matter so much, because by then you'll probably have got all the cards you want / need and heroes / villains, so there'll be absolutely no advantage to buying crates - so actually now is the time to get it, play with people who can't pay to win, get good, get cards, and then when they do re-open the flood-gates, it won't matter one bit... as you're already there! (that's what I've been doing all week!)
..like many, I think EA deserve all they get - it'll no doubt have been the greedy suits implementing this on top of what is an amazingly crafted arcade shooter... of course I don't condone what they've done... and I reckon after recent changes - once you've completed the story and played a good few online rounds (and some arcade rounds) - you'll have enough credits to unlock 2 or 3 heroes... obviously once those have been collected you need to then start using credits for loot boxes... it'll be a slow process, but I'm trying to ignore all that fluff and just get on with enjoying the game (which is still rather awesome)... I know, I know... I'm a hypocritical dumb consumer... :/
@JoeBlogs - thanks... yeah... it's good to have a balance or '2nd opinion' - I really didn't like the last NFS, it felt too sluggish and that really was a dead city... but this is bright, great day/night cycle - it really feels like Burnout again! Sure the storyline is pants - but it the racing, and the off-road races in particular are an absolute blast... as are the cop chases (and I personally like the fact the cops aren't around all the time interfering in races, it means you can just focus on winning!) I honestly love it... get Spotify on in the background and go hunting for car-parts around the vast map - great stuff... nice down-time before more racing occurs (and there's so many nods to Burnout Paradise - the observatory, the city part feels really similar to it too) - I'm no fan of EA, but I think two years away has really done this franchise some good... :/
..yeah I have to totally disagree with this review... I've had it well over a week now and there's not once I felt I needed to purchase anything more or even grind that much (simply because there's so much to do and so many ways to earn in-game currency)... definitely it's annoying not being able to transfer cards - but by the time you upgrade to a new car, you just sell your old one, get a shed-load of cash for it and the cards attached to it, and then upgrade your new one... I had over 1,000,000 at one point and plenty of cars, and I wasn't even on the second round of races (after the helicopter chase)... and the map isn't dead - once you beat the races, you have racers driving around, derelicts to find, coins to collect, billboards to smash (nice to see those back), all the on-road challenges (speed, jump, drift, etc.) - the map is CHOC-FULL of things to do, and it certainly looks great in 4K... but ultimately the racing is just FUN, there's loads of racing (definitely more than the last version of NFS) - and it's just mindless arcade fun... it's definitely the closest thing we've had to Burnout... since... Burnout! (sometimes you have to try games for yourself to decide whether you like it or not...) :/
...despite me loving the hell out of it so far, I feel the review sites have an obligation to the industry and to their readers to really highlight the loot box (and arcade timer aspect "come back to tomorrow to get more credits?!?! WTF?!?!) debacle and mark this down accordingly - it really shouldn't be getting more than 5/10 - full marks for gameplay mechanics / maps / etc. - 0/10 for trying to fleece the eyeballs out of people who have paid £50+ for this... you can clearly tell who provides the bulk of IGN's advertising revenue... :/
..I pre-ordered it, and have virtually none of my 10 hours trial left... it's utterly amazing.. I was curious to why half of the heroes / villains were 'locked' - but actually, like many have said... I've played half of the arcade challenges, done the first couple of chapters in single player (which is awesome btw... utterly brilliant) and had a good few online matches... and I've spent thousands on crates (didn't realise I needed to save them for heroes!) - it gives people something to work towards and keep you playing... you don't want everything at once - where's the fun in that? Will it mean me spending any more on it? NO! but will it give me incentive to play it more and unlock the ones I want? YES! Clearly the original prices were waaaaay too high (reminds me of the For Honor debacle - why do publishers not learn from each others' mistakes??!?!?) loving every minute of it, and it looks utterly stunning on XB1X... those space battles... my goodness they're impressive...
...I think they really need to look at doubling-down the user experience and focusing on FPS next... they need to a) nail 4K native (no more checkerboarding) then they need to b) ensure 60FPS (especially for racing games, etc.) - I've just got the new XB1X, and oh my word is Forza 7 a genuine tour de force... and of course c) PSVR 2.0 needs a resolution bump and more grunt to give even more detail (especially with draw distances)... alongside improved camera and totally revamped controllers... and of course a 4TB hard drive for all the 4K content that comes with it!
..yeah another short / simple experience worthy of a half-price sale... :/ kind of reminds me of RUSE (remember that using the move controllers?!?) now something like that in VR, and then we're talking! (and I reckon totally doable given it's a good few years old)
..I don't mind getting something like this day 0 - purely because, a) it gives me more time to practice, b) I get more practice, c) I NEED THAT PRACTICE TIME...
In all seriousness, it looks a hoot, and you could always wait forever for that next £10/£20 drop - people who bought it day 1 will have had more their money's worth by ploughing hours and hours into it! (I know I will!)
..Bound is GORGEOUS in both 4K and VR... Worms = meh.. but having Rush of Blood on the hard-drive instead of disc is a huge bonus! Happy with that alone! (I can now part-ex that for a bit of cash)
.... yeah, definitely setting the tone... and yes it was violent, and I think that was the point - it differentiates itself from other games, by going for a more realistic approach.. there are so many zombie games out there (and coming) - that I think this really does set itself apart... it's an adult game for an adult audience... and for me (as not a particular fan of the first - I think the boring shooting got in the way of an amazing story) - it rekindles interest in something I may not have purchased...
...yeah, I think the statement " we just hope that the studio has access to enough budget to make the true new-gen tennis title we all deserve" is going to ring very true... not showing any faces (always a bad sign) - but equally, I wasn't overly impressed with the animation, etc. I loved Top Spin 4 so much, and have been dying for a new decent tennis sim... maybe it'll be 'gameplay over graphics' (I can live with that...)
..I'm glad this is being done - it really is surprising that Sony hasn't officially published (like MS) all PS4Pro / HDR titles... (and forthcoming ones) - yes, there is a 'Pro' section in the store, but it's not great, easily navigatable(?), nor complete... the good thing about XB1X's launch next week is that Sony will now have to up its game again (which I know they will) - because I think they've become a little too complacent of late (25% increase in PSN and for little / nothing in return) - this is the wake-up call they need!

Re: Poll: Ultimate PlayStation Character Tournament: Round 1 - Matches 17-20
Majima FTW! You can't truly appreciate him until you've seen him do karoake...
Re: Missing Bloodborne Monster Finally Hunted Down
..such a big fan of the 'souls' series... and I did complete BB (and loved it) - but I did miss the shield aspect and never really got into the gun / parry mechanic as much... it just felt a bit too twitchy... maybe showing my age here though! (and of course I'd purchase a sequel on day zero!)
Re: Review: SingStar: Celebration (PS4)
Re: Review: SingStar: Celebration (PS4)
@naruball @get2sammyb - I think the review of this needs revisiting - the game is technically accomplished, probably providing more options than ever before, and as far as 'singable karoake' tracks - there's an awful lot of crowd pleasers to suit all ages on here (whether you like them or not is irrelevant) - and think this really stands out as a bad score for no good reason...
Re: Review: SingStar: Celebration (PS4)
...here's the full tracklist (oddly omitted from the review).. there's a nice balance of old and new on there... it looks like it's been scored harshly because of musical taste, rather than the actual game itself... :/

Re: Poll: Are You Buying Star Wars Battlefront 2?
...I think the good news about them removing transactions NOW is that it gives everyone time to get to an even level... if in 3 months time they re-introduce them - then it won't matter so much, because by then you'll probably have got all the cards you want / need and heroes / villains, so there'll be absolutely no advantage to buying crates - so actually now is the time to get it, play with people who can't pay to win, get good, get cards, and then when they do re-open the flood-gates, it won't matter one bit... as you're already there! (that's what I've been doing all week!)
Re: EA Removes Microtransactions from Star Wars Battlefront 2, for Now at Least
..but what about the £160 I've spent on loot crates after paying full price on my pre-order??!?
Re: 'We Will Fix This' Says Star Wars Battlefront 2 Dev as Loot Box Outrage Rumbles On
..like many, I think EA deserve all they get - it'll no doubt have been the greedy suits implementing this on top of what is an amazingly crafted arcade shooter... of course I don't condone what they've done... and I reckon after recent changes - once you've completed the story and played a good few online rounds (and some arcade rounds) - you'll have enough credits to unlock 2 or 3 heroes... obviously once those have been collected you need to then start using credits for loot boxes... it'll be a slow process, but I'm trying to ignore all that fluff and just get on with enjoying the game (which is still rather awesome)... I know, I know... I'm a hypocritical dumb consumer... :/
Re: Review: Need for Speed Payback (PS4)
Re: Review: Need for Speed Payback (PS4)
..yeah I have to totally disagree with this review... I had over 1,000,000 at one point and plenty of cars, and I wasn't even on the second round of races (after the helicopter chase)... and the map isn't dead - once you beat the races, you have racers driving around, derelicts to find, coins to collect, billboards to smash (nice to see those back), all the on-road challenges (speed, jump, drift, etc.) - the map is CHOC-FULL of things to do, and it certainly looks great in 4K... but ultimately the racing is just FUN, there's loads of racing (definitely more than the last version of NFS) - and it's just mindless arcade fun... it's definitely the closest thing we've had to Burnout... since... Burnout! (sometimes you have to try games for yourself to decide whether you like it or not...) :/
Re: Round Up: Star Wars Battlefront 2 Reviews Lurch Towards the Dark Side
...despite me loving the hell out of it so far, I feel the review sites have an obligation to the industry and to their readers to really highlight the loot box (and arcade timer aspect "come back to tomorrow to get more credits?!?! :/
Re: EA Already Promising Changes to Star Wars Battlefront 2 Following Fresh Loot Box Outrage
..I pre-ordered it, and have virtually none of my 10 hours trial left... it's utterly amazing..
Re: PS5 Is Still At Least Two Years Away, Says Ubisoft
...I think they really need to look at doubling-down the user experience and focusing on FPS next... they need to a) nail 4K native (no more checkerboarding) then they need to b) ensure 60FPS (especially for racing games, etc.) - I've just got the new XB1X, and oh my word is Forza 7 a genuine tour de force... and of course c) PSVR 2.0 needs a resolution bump and more grunt to give even more detail (especially with draw distances)... alongside improved camera and totally revamped controllers... and of course a 4TB hard drive for all the 4K content that comes with it!
Re: Review: League of War: VR Arena (PS4)
..yeah another short / simple experience worthy of a half-price sale... :/ kind of reminds me of RUSE (remember that using the move controllers?!?) now something like that in VR, and then we're talking! (and I reckon totally doable given it's a good few years old)
Re: Maybe Don't Buy Star Wars Battlefront 2 at Launch
..I don't mind getting something like this day 0 - purely because, a) it gives me more time to practice, b) I get more practice, c) I NEED THAT PRACTICE TIME...
In all seriousness, it looks a hoot, and you could always wait forever for that next £10/£20 drop - people who bought it day 1 will have had more their money's worth by ploughing hours and hours into it! (I know I will!)
Re: November PlayStation Plus Games Announced
..Bound is GORGEOUS in both 4K and VR... Worms = meh.. but having Rush of Blood on the hard-drive instead of disc is a huge bonus! Happy with that alone! (I can now part-ex that for a bit of cash)
Re: Poll: Is The Last of Us: Part II's New Trailer Too Much?
.... yeah, definitely setting the tone... and yes it was violent, and I think that was the point - it differentiates itself from other games, by going for a more realistic approach.. there are so many zombie games out there (and coming) - that I think this really does set itself apart... it's an adult game for an adult audience... and for me (as not a particular fan of the first - I think the boring shooting got in the way of an amazing story) - it rekindles interest in something I may not have purchased...
Re: PGW 2017: Tennis World Tour Avoids Double Fault with Debut Trailer
...yeah, I think the statement " we just hope that the studio has access to enough budget to make the true new-gen tennis title we all deserve" is going to ring very true... not showing any faces (always a bad sign) - but equally, I wasn't overly impressed with the animation, etc. I loved Top Spin 4 so much, and have been dying for a new decent tennis sim... maybe it'll be 'gameplay over graphics' (I can live with that...)
Re: Guide: All PS4 HDR Compatible Games
..I'm glad this is being done - it really is surprising that Sony hasn't officially published (like MS) all PS4Pro / HDR titles...
