Re: Review: No Heroes Allowed! VR (PS4)

OneManDroid

..again 'yet another' release to wait for a sale - I contacted Tequila about Invisible Hours and why it was priced at £35 in the UK - they said that Sony set the price... I'm not convinced myself... either way, it'll be inflated prices that kills VR if its not careful... I understand it's niche and there's not as much return on investment... but as an early adopter I won't be fleeced after taking the plunge and having faith in a new technology... :/

Re: Star Wars Battlefront 2's Single Player Campaign Will Last 5 to 7 Hours

OneManDroid

..I know there's a load of controversy over loot boxes, etc. but I had such fun with the first one... and I can't wait for this either... I won't spend a penny on microtransactions, I'll earn every upgrade (and enjoy every minute doing so)... games like this are really for their MP - the single-player is there to acclimatise to the controls again after being away for a while...

Re: Review: Megaton Rainfall (PS4)

OneManDroid

..a bit harsh of a review I'd say... (7/10) no mention of the actual bonkers aliens (some incredibly clever and original designs / animations - aliens hiding as building? GENIUS! those transparent ones clinging to buildings that knock them down before you've had chance to shoot them? ball and chain ones? really refreshing!) - that first time you accidentally nuke a city using your charge-up power in VR? Priceless!

Re: Resident Evil 7 Sneaks Past Its Sales Target Several Months Late

OneManDroid

..absolutely amazing game, especially in VR - it's STILL the best PSVR game released so far... I recently bought the DLC for it and they've added a cracking horde-esque mode and a puzzle room that is reminiscent of Misery... (and not even mentioning the bizarre 21 survival mode, etc.) - it works soooo well in VR, and an experience you'll never EVER forget... stunning stuff... bring on RE8...

Re: Sony Stealth Announced a Slew of PlayStation VR Games

OneManDroid

...it's really good to see this kind of support... and yes, I'd like more buy-in from larger publishers (it will come I'm sure) - but - as many have said, it's starting to feel like a console in its own right, which maybe the way to go in the future... have PSVR 2.0 as a separate entity perhaps and not reliant on owning a PS4 Pro? (or the option at least...) by the time it comes around, there could be in excess of 200 titles for it... that's a ruddy good start to any new console!

Re: Feature: PlayStation VR - How's Sony's Virtual Reality Gamble Going One Year Later?

OneManDroid

...day one purchaser - and like many - the cost of games for their short length really is an issue (especially when sales can provide AAA titles giving weeks' worth of play for peanuts) - and also the technological limits are clear (it does look like playing VR on a PS2) but I don't regret purchasing - experiences like Star Wars, Resident Evil, Eagle Flight, Statik, Batman, etc. - priceless... you really can see the future of gaming in these titles... now if only PSVR would move away from the multitude of boring wave shooters and 2-hour 'interactive experiences'... then I'd be more engaged again... I've just pre-ordered Megaton and can't wait for Invisible Hours to be released... hopefully they'll re-ignite my PSVR passion!

Re: Bungie Is Looking Into Improving Destiny 2's Endgame

OneManDroid

... it was so good whilst it lasted, but after getting 3 characters to 290+ there was literally nothing to do... even the weekly refreshes just meant a slightly improved gun or whatever... I traded it in, before losing money from it, in readiness for the onslaught of games due over the coming weeks...

Re: Ratings Board Rules That Loot Boxes in Games Aren't a Form of Gambling

OneManDroid

@Fath, @Bad-MuthaAdebisi - totally disagree... would you consider buying a Kinder Egg as gambling? (I would really hope not) - there's a difference between buying a randomised product (cards, loot, stickers, kinder eggs, mini-action figures that you don't know what you're getting, buying absolutely ANYTHING from Ebay, etc.) and actual gambling (semantics be damned) - this kind of literal interpretation is what causes more and more of a 'nanny state'... and where does it all end?

Common sense (and personal responsibility) has to apply somewhere... I think most would consider gambling as a process of chance / attempt at getting something for nothing (i.e. more than what you invested, with a possibility of losing that money / getting nothing in return)... However, a randomised product GUARANTEES you get at least 5 of whatever it is for your money, with the chance that one of those 5 things are rarer (not necessary more valuable) than the other 4...

Re: Ratings Board Rules That Loot Boxes in Games Aren't a Form of Gambling

OneManDroid

..let's be honest, nobody likes loot boxes, but, they're not gambling... you do get SOMETHING, and kids have been buying packs of cards in the playground (football stickers, etc. etc.) for YEARS. By purchasing one of these (with real money) you're hoping you get that special player or Magic the Gathering card, or Yu-Gi-Oh, or,
(my personal favourite that I miss so much) - that Eye of Judgement Admiral Belta card (loved him)... it's irrelevant that you can't swap / sell - you're choosing to buy a randomised product, and that isn't gambling... and it's been going on for decades.. yes, the gaming industry have twisted it and have made games worse by doing so... but it still isn't gambling... (in my humble opinion)

Re: Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite's Monster Hunter Slays from 17th October

OneManDroid

..have to say, only reason I bought it was a pre-order of £30 - I've since part-exed it for the same amount... I got a couple of weeks free play of it, completed the campaign, played arcade and a lot of missions... it really wasn't anything to write home about... nice fighting, but god-awful to look at... and really long load times too... at least I gave it a shot! one for the hardcore fighting crowd I suspect...

Re: Destiny 2 Down For Another 4 Hours Today, European Players Aren't Too Happy

OneManDroid

..what's annoying is a) it's almost like in Eurozone you can only play 6 out of 7 evenings (as one is a write-off) and b) there's zero acknowledgement from Bungie about this... they could easily schedule this earlier as many have said and not alienate an entire continent, but no, 4 weeks in a row (last week it wasn't back up until about 9pmish) they constantly shafted Europe.. it isn't good enough... FORTUNATELY Battlefront 2 is only a month away, and then Destiny 2 gets part-exed for that (in an instant) so only another month of this lunacy to endure...

Re: Review: Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (PS4)

OneManDroid

.. I remember LOVING this game first time around... grabbing onto chimeras and ogres, etc (similar to Shadow of the Colossus style) was just genius! Why they never made a proper sequel is beyond me... the only criticism I would make is that by about 2/3 of the way through you're so powerful that you can demolish pretty much anything that it throws at you (but the fight to get there is very much worth it!) I just love the usage of classic monsters - no messing around - it deserves a sequel!

Re: Revised PlayStation VR Model Adds HDR Passthrough

OneManDroid

@kyleforrester87 - fair enough.. I think with any tech - it's really got to be something new / exciting to warrant a day one purchase (and I'd definitely put PSVR into that category) - don't wait forever though - you're missing out on some incredible game-changing experiences... and knowing that you're part of something making it a success, makes it even more worthwhile! It's the 'sit and wait' mentality that can make / break a technology!

Re: Revised PlayStation VR Model Adds HDR Passthrough

OneManDroid

... although not exactly life-threatening - this is a bit of a kick in the nuts to day one purchasers like myself.. sure there's ways around it (have both plugged into your TV and then just change the hdmi at the back of PS is the best way imo) but still, not being able to just change the processor and 'upgrade' if you've already purchased PSVR is yet another oversight on Sony's part... got to say... as time goes on, slightly regretting adopting early on this one...

Re: Poll: Do You Want Another Portable PlayStation?

OneManDroid

...after the Vita debacle I can never trust Sony again to support another handheld... I was really on the fence with PSVR knowing just how poorly Sony support their new ideas (take a bow Play TV, Move, Vita, Wonderbook, Eye Toy, etc.) and then when they closed the RIGS studio right after PSVR launch it was like "oh no, duped by Sony again..." - still not convinced Sony have supported PSVR anywhere near as much as they could / should... but I'm giving it another year before I sell it... :/

Re: Hands On: Bravo Team Fails to Make Its Mark

OneManDroid

@get2sammyb - it has undoubtedly been popular with the VR community - but it was clearly under-manufactured, because it's still hard to get (I'm in a few VR groups and it's still a complaint - so clearly it was a small production run). But honestly, one five-hour game for such a pricey peripheral, so soon after the initial cost of the PSVR - was a really bad move (controllers?) in my humble opinion... I don't feel like I'm missing out on much not having played it - and that's the worry really, it doesn't feel like an essential purchase which might in turn end up killing support for the aim controller (and I can't be the only one thinking that) - this preview doesn't bode well either... :/

Re: Hands On: Bravo Team Fails to Make Its Mark

OneManDroid

...I'm one of the few who didn't go for Farpoint... it just didn't justify the price-tag... and the few games that have tried to shoe-horn using it haven't been successful... and now this... it's sad, but I think it was way too ambitious (dare I say silly / greedy) to release such a pricey and niche accessory in an already tiny / niche market... it's just bonkers...

Re: Sony Ships Another Half Million PlayStation VR Headsets

OneManDroid

...VR is the ONLY medium (in my humble opinion) that gives players that 'WOW' moment... if you're a gamer veteran - there's probably not much you haven't seen already.. sure, games are getting shinier and larger, and harder (DS franchise) and more complex, and 4K and teraflops and checkerboarding and so on... but when you see for the first time a star destroyer fly above your head, or when Margeurite makes your life a living hell and scares the bejesus out of you (simply by slamming a door in your face).. or you simply pick up a cowboy and make them ride a dinosaur... all of a sudden, simple things become WOW moments... that first time you go down the lift in Batman VR, that first time you get on the Rush of Blood rollercoaster... the first time you see a boss in Thumper and then look at it on the TV and think "that looks rubbish in 4K, where's the sense of scale?!?!" - that's the magic of VR... it just needs more publishers and developers to realise this and see the potential (and an entirely new market for them to cash in on!)

Re: Hands On: Is Skyrim Any Good with PlayStation VR?

OneManDroid

..this is such a tough sell... as a PSVR day one owner, spending £50 on this AGAIN (which would be the third time if I bought it) - after only recentish-ly getting the legendary edition.. I dunno... going to wait for reviews... if it looks anything like RE7 then count me in... but it barely runs that well in 2D, I shudder to think how many flying cows are going to appear in this version... (and the pop-in and muddy distances...) eeeesh... it'll either be a technical marvel or a complete avoid... :/ fingers crossed it's good!

Re: UK Sales Charts: Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Appears to Flop

OneManDroid

..it's also bad timing coming out the week after Destiny 2 - I bought MVCI last week, completed the story mode (cheesy but okay) - but it's now on the back-burner whilst I get to level 290 and beyond! it'll be one I return to before the new XB1X arrives! (and then it'll probably be part-exed for something new!)

Re: Review: Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite (PS4)

OneManDroid

..I got it for £35 on pre-order (should be arriving tonight / tomorrow) - the demo was REALLY underwhelming, but if you look online at actual matches - it does look really fun (and colourful, etc.) - a lot of the character detail is fortunately lost in the maelstrom of colours... heck if it's not that good, I can always part-ex it... I'm saving Injustice 2 for XB1X - so this looks a little less serious and little more crazy fun to be cracking on with in the meantime! And a Chun-Li / Spidey tag-team? Count me in!

Re: Review: Destiny 2 (PS4)

OneManDroid

@ShogunRok - thanks for the quick response! 1000ish words I do think is a bit small for such a massive game like this, and I guess with things like the weapons changes and subclasses - these are signficant enough(?) changes from D1 to mention. I don't believe these are just about how the game works, these are how it differs and adds an extra wrinkle of complexity (depth, new mechanics, etc. etc.) - but - still a good review!

Re: Review: Destiny 2 (PS4)

OneManDroid

..having owned / played it for over a week now (and by no means a Destiny fanboy - didn't buy any DLC for D1, etc. etc. but did complete the campaign) - microtransactions haven't affected me once.. I've got a truckload of shaders I've never used, alongside a bagload of armour/weapon mods... I think it's a great review, but I have to say it's way too short for this type of AAA game - as a few have said, the weapons overhaul (new different types) needs a mention, and microtransactions do need to be referred to in this review, regardless of what articles have gone before it... (and there's a truckload of stuff that probably deserves a mention, like subclasses, etc. etc.)

Re: Destiny 2 PS4 Pro Crash Issues Being Investigated by Sony and Bungie

OneManDroid

..only 2 of these crashes since Wednesday (non-stop playing it!) but I've had a few instances whereby I've gone to the farm and then it's a black screen and "there's a problem with your Bungie account" - as if it's their servers or something - and you have to reset the the game (usually after unlocking engrams) - that's happened a good handful of times... :/

Re: Review: Redout: Lightspeed Edition (PS4)

OneManDroid

@MadAussieBloke ahhhh, the old mcable debate... that's a reddit thread in itself! alas it doesn't upscale or change the resolution (bar maybe sharpening things a bit and changing colour, etc.) - it can't prevent severe lack of draw distance / details though (just sharpen what's there...) bring on PSVR 2.0!

Re: Poll: Are You Enjoying Destiny 2?

OneManDroid

@kyleforrester87 ha! snap! yes, 4K does bring out all the imperfections... and I have to say it gets better looking the more you play (IO, for example) - it just maybe didn't have that 'wow' factor (due to better-looking games like Horizon, etc.) out there!

Re: Review: Redout: Lightspeed Edition (PS4)

OneManDroid

@MadAussieBloke PSVR support incoming!?! Insta-purchase when it lands (as long it's the whole game and not just a tacked-on 'mode')... oooh nothing makes my VR blood boil more than tacked-on VR...

Seriously though, I do have my concerns about this in VR - one thing PSVR can't do well is draw-distances, and for something this fast and the idea of seeing a blurry, muddy track in front of you? Insta-vomit! (but if it's the full game, WHO CARES EH?!?)

Re: UK Sales Charts: Destiny 2 Down Dramatically Compared to First Game

OneManDroid

@FaultyDroid - hey you might be right there, also no Destiny fatigue as it's been years since I played the first... I thought the DLC got good reviews though (Taken King, etc.) but yeah, maybe because I didn't invest hundreds of hours into the first I can appreciate the second a bit more... if I'm honest, I doubt I'll get the DLC on D2 either, but I'll enjoy the base game and if the new raid is good, who knows?!?

Re: UK Sales Charts: Destiny 2 Down Dramatically Compared to First Game

OneManDroid

... I don't get the hate around the Destiny franchise... I'm not a massive fan (I bought the first, didn't bother with the expansions) - but I really enjoyed it.. and I got this middle of last week and haven't stopped playing it so far! Sure, it feels like more of the same - but to those who enjoyed the first - that's good (nothing broken so far!) and for return visitors like myself (I bought it physically just in case, so I could part-ex it if I didn't enjoy it!) it's packed with content, I even tried the PVP Crucible for the first time and it was really fun! I can see this becoming a staple game for quite some time... at least until XB1X comes out (itching for the new NFS on it, and Battlefront 2) - that should be 4K gaming and then some!

Re: The Witcher 3 PS4 Pro Patch Is Coming Soon

OneManDroid

..I've been sitting on W3 for ages now, still haven't allocated time for it... and I've just sold my PS4 version as I'll be getting an Xbox One X in Novemeber, so I want it on that (that's why I'm also holding off on Elite too...) - I reckon XB1X will be the place for 4K cross-platforming, and my Pro will be for exclusives and VR! (best of both worlds!)

Re: Poll: Are You Enjoying Destiny 2?

OneManDroid

...several hours in, loving it and liking it just as much as the first...
..my only gripe is that it doesn't look as impressive as I thought it would... it's certainly not as good looking as say Titanfall 2 for example...

Re: Review: The Lost Bear (PS4)

OneManDroid

... I love my PSVR, but until people / review sites take a stand about the fact that it's unacceptable to sell a game clocking in at under an hour for a tenner, then we're just going to get more and more of these 'experiences' and fewer 'games'... this shouldn't score higher than a 4 purely on game length / value... we aren't buying movies, we're buying GAMES, and I think as gamers who have forked out hundreds of pounds on this tech - we want more than this and Fated, Theseus, even Superhot and all the other 'experiences'... we want full-fat games like RIGs (free this month), RE7, Korix, Battlezone, Thumper, etc. (thus endeth the sermon!)

Re: Push Rewind: Was Knack Really That Bad?

OneManDroid

... I remember getting Knack far later into the console's life (I was a late PS4 starter) and it was under a tenner... and the first couple of hours were enjoyable enough (I guess) - but it was the repetition, oh lord did it get stale - FAST... the unfair, unseen deaths that caused restarts and then the whole 'trial and error' in later stages.. it looked bad, played okay, but as a launch title (I think it was) - it was shockingly bad... Knack 2? I'll get again when it's under a tenner, just for the sh1ts and giggles at how bad the first one was... I think I even did a YouTube video at the time... as sharing was all new and shiny (and I played it so others didn't have to...)
