It's pathetic. I know exactly why... little johnny notices he has a 0-10 score, quits the game and doesn't buy any skins over little johnny only sees some good stuff he did, makes him smile and think he wasn't crap for 40 minutes
Growing up on games like Quake, Kingpin, Counter-Strike, Unreal-Tournament seeing how you were performing is what spurned me on. It made me thrive to be better. Why has that guy got 10 kills to my 1, what's he doing different? I need to learn.
They will claim K/D isn't relevant and to PTFO but it is very relevant, this is a FPS. You can only take an objective by killing/dying so the objective, while important, is always secondary in a shooter.
Now they prefer to dumb it down for everyone to not hurt their feelingss and maybe squeeze a few more quid. Glad Steam refunded me.
@Iroha Millions of computers (including mine) can't play the latest games. You have to leave hardware behind in order to progress. PS4 has had its life cycle so it's time for new games to be fully designed from the ground up around using the new available technologies. it's just evolution and it's how it always has been. Go play a NES game of a SNES... oh wait.
What's annoying is that these games which will be stunning could of been levels ahead if they discarded the old tech. It's time to move on. But now we have to wait 7 years for their next instalments to only fully appreciated this current tech.
@Northern_munkey Is this deja vu or did they also doa "It's been 4 months since..." article too? It's not even news. It's like reporting every day that the sun hasn't died out yet.
@naruball Waiting over a year for the very slim chance of it being marginally cheaper than a disc... I can't take any positives from that. Its dirty and greedy.
£60 for a digital game (and while heavily discounted) is disgusting.
The £100 you save buying a digital console is soon spent after you have purchased your first 6 or 7 games. After that you are handing piles of cash to Sony, in comparison to disc owners, for your purchases for the next 7 years.
@Kang81 That was my main point yes, bandwidth costs less than physically printing and packaging items, driving/flying/shipping them all over the world to stores in little towns (and STILL selling them cheaper). It's completely backwards and clearly shows the unreasonable profit margin Sony have added. We're already paying for PS Plus which contributes towards the upkeep of their network.
@2cents Yep. You paid less for the console because it lacked hardware. So why should you now have to pay inflated software prices for the next 7 years. For someone who buys plenty of games think of the additional spend over a long period. Ridiculous.
@Kang81 Exactly. For single player story games I'm old enough to not get too excited now and just wait. Look at the price of TLOU2 etc now. However, the problem comes when it's a big multiplayer game which you want to start fresh with friends. You want it at launch so why should the PS Store get away with charging £10 above the price in a general store. Dirty tactics.
@WallyWest They aren't buying at RRP because they buy in bulk. Economies of scale and all that. Besides, why do you care if ASDA sell you something at a loss? Anybody who argues FOR a closed market... well... You cant argue with those people lol
@WallyWest GAME are generally a rip off (I worked there briefly but quit because I felt like a criminal taking bags of games off kids for pennies.)
Besides GAME, you will find a normal launch game is cheaper pretty much everywhere compared to the store. Anywhere from Amazon, Play, all supermarkets and catalogues.
Good and I hope they lose. We need more competitive pricing.
What I find disgusting, and people will argue against me, is the price of digital games being higher than physical. That's the absolute opposite of how it should be and they are purely praying on people wanting the game at midnight or quickly.
Printing discs and shipping them all over the world is more expensive than a little bandwidth. So how can they justify selling a digital game for £55-£60 at launch when it is £45 in the supermarkets.
It should be cheaper on the digital store to encourage people to rely less on physical.
This new £70 price bracket for games is terrible too so I'll always borrow or wait for huge discounts now.
Does fix the trophy screen layout? That's got to be the worst design I've ever seen, obviously made by someone who never uses it. Massive ugly tiles that don't even show half of the description. It's bad times when the phone app is better than the console UI.
The long delay on the overlay menu appearing after you tap the PS button on the pad is annoying too. I always find myself pressing it again, thinking it didn't register.
@Hypnotoad107 They come back as soon as you are subbed again. Unlike Gamepass.
Like I say, it is good value for kids who bounce from indie game to indie game. Older people who just want the latest greatest titles day 1... it's not for them.
@Hypnotoad107 Yeah, you own the game for the entirety of your sub. It's in your digital library for good, while subbed. Gamepass you rent the game for 4 months. It's not yours and no matter whether you are subbed or not, it vanishes.
You pretty much can't do anything online without PS Plus (which is *****, but same for both consoles), so who doesn't have it? Your games dont vanish while you are playing them though.
Game Pass is good value for some people, mainly parents for their kids. But for me I look at that GamePass library and wonder... What does it have that I want to play that I cant on PS5... Slim to zero because their exclusives are lacking so desperately. There is maybe the odd indie game I would have a go of to test that I wouldn't risk buying but not at that monthly subscription cost. I think the best game I could find that I'd want to play was RAGE 2.... Years old.
Also the fact they are rented so if you decide to play it 4 months into it's cycle and it vanishes on you, you'd be pissed. Owning games in your library like on PS Plus in the way.
@LowTech Took about 3 hours or so to get that one trophy as it just wasn't working properly. Nailed the 3 kills perfectly, with shields up and 100% while on fire. It wouldn't pop so I kept reloading the previous save, probably about 40 times. Last attempt before I jumped out the window I nailed the 3 perfects but then just carried on and killed 3 more and it finally popped. So it's a pretty glitchy trophy. Recommend doing it down south prior to Skill power 300. Use the stand on burning roof returning their spears method.
Finished all the Arcs now too so just got a few hours of collectable mopping up to do now and that's it put to bed.
Incredible world building and detail, they've pretty much mastered that. Not as smooth for movement as the previous two games though. And it seriously does not respect a persons time.
I'm all for huge games but it's become extremely tedious after 85 hours, with another 15 even more repetitive ones on the horizon. "This door is barred from the other side" "This chest needs a key"
@Omnicron ps. Tonight my goal is to go for that hardest trophy and get that boxed off so I can relax for the remainder. (The 3 hard kills in one fight while on fire and no broken shields one). After that it's plain sailing hopefully. I've seen people with Plat breaking bugs regards fishing through, so hopefully that plays ball.
@LowTech I'm not aware of the exploit. Missed a trick haha
I'm going for Plat too, like the last 2 Creeds. I'm 70 hours deep and only have a couple of England Arcs left and collectables to chase.
I come across some total show stopping bugs with Mysteries but I hope I have managed to get around them in various silly ways after googling about. Like throwing dead bodies at objects to get them to do what they should lol
With platinum in the back of my mind the Mysteries have been very stressful. Always half expected them to bug out, and sometimes that being so. Hopefully I'm on course though otherwise I'll putting my head through the screen.
@LowTech I had this bug. Icon for the key as there on the stool but no key. I did something random after googling it like riding on my horse and kicking the door in. I think the other method is to fully complete the Lunden Arc too.
@wiiware I would love to see the entire collection of his TLOU2 comments since its release across the whole internet.
We feel him here all day but I can only imagine the flood of posts on other forums and reviews. He really has commited full time to hating lesbians and trans in games regardless of how good the game is.
@wiiware They cant make a 30+ hour game of just Joel and Ellie plodding around the country aimlessly. We've already done 30+ hours with them in the first game. it had to be shaken up.
Joel not being there actually made it stronger narratively because it shown that despite their conflict, Ellie and Joel were bound by love and she went through the whole ordeal to prove that.
@wiiware In terms of gameplay everyone knew exactly what to expect and it more than delivered. Story wise why would they reveal all the shock value in a trailer?
You not liking the story doesn't make it a broken game like Cyberpunk, or a game that was a total lie in terms of promised features and key gameplay mechanics like No Mans Lie.
TLOU2 is a complete, meaty and very polished game.
@jmac1686 He's basically written it off completely. I'm half way in now, it's an absolutely brilliant achievement. Another step to blurring the line between game and film.

I think this looks pretty fun and a bit of a breath of fresh air. Latest Doom was the fast pace FPS that had been lacking for many years and this looks similar.
As someone mentions above Days Gone looks boring compared. Running round in circles to get the horde close enough to a barrel to blow it up. Impressive to see the horde for the first few encounters but I’d imagine you’d get sick of them in the end.
Strange that EA would drop Apex Legends right before Firestorm, killing it before it has started. Also, Firestorm should of been made free to play, with it being a vehicle to get people to then go and buy Battlefield V by linking the cosmetics and teasing the other modes/content. Not having Firestorm ready for launch (which was already delayed and a PR disaster) and then locking it behind a paywall, it had no chance.
The mode itself...

@arnoldlayne83 Yeah I'm right in the thick of that at the moment, it's great. How on earth did they review it with a score of only 1.3 more than Anthem? My brain hurts trying to understand their thinking behind that one. The reviewer must have some sort of grudge or bias somewhere.
