It looks like playing RAGE 2 will be a blast, but based on what we've seen so far, there's not much more to the game than its mental weapons and fast-paced shooting. That isn't necessarily a problem, but we just... Well, this new gameplay footage is exactly what you expect. Go to location on map, shoot things or blow things up, complete basic objectives, collect upgrade materials, move on.
Now, the world looks pretty cool and gravity gun seems neat, but in all honesty we're yet to be wowed by RAGE 2. Maybe that'll change once we have a controller in our hands and we're turning mutants into bloody chunks.
What do you think of RAGE 2 so far? Are your opinions as split as ours? Don't go too crazy in the comments section below.

I like the dodge mechanic, and seeing the BFG again is nice.
It looks fun and it is not too politically correct. Predictable in some ways... maybe, but what game isn't? It is fast-paced, the music is cool, the world is long and there are plenty of enemies. I will buy it for sure and will recommend it to anyone I know.
That describes most open world games doesn't it? Let's face it few have become any more sophisticated than that, at least this one looks to have a good time whilst doing it. Doom is one of the very best games this generation but that basically boils down to running around and shooting everything is sight with a bit of light exploration. If the shooting holds up to that game then I'm definitely interested in this one
you may not be wow by rage 2.but I am.just because you are not impressed by it a lot of people I know are impressed.and yes this game have a story.they don't want to show everything.cant wait for this game.word up son
It looks better than Days Gone, that's about all I can say I guess. I do want to play it to be honest.
@kyleforrester87 completely agree. I’ve been somewhat underwhelmed from what I’ve seen of Days Gone so far. This looks like a lot of fun though.
I think this looks pretty fun and a bit of a breath of fresh air. Latest Doom was the fast pace FPS that had been lacking for many years and this looks similar.
As someone mentions above Days Gone looks boring compared. Running round in circles to get the horde close enough to a barrel to blow it up. Impressive to see the horde for the first few encounters but I’d imagine you’d get sick of them in the end.
Nice to see all six of the people excited for RAGE 2 in the comments here.
@ShogunRok go play Dragon Age
Do we need originality? Not all the time, we just want fun! The attraction of arcade games has always been their simplicity, I think we try to over complicate home gaming to justify the price tag...sometimes I just wanna repeatedly blow sh1t up! Over and over again!
@Ianjong yeah see, Doom got that right, this looks more like FarCry which (as we all know) is absolute nonsense. Still, it could hold its own if the gunplay and soundtrack are up to scratch.
Meh. Will wait for a price drop.
I've been very excited about this for quite a while. I really thought it looked amazing. Now, with the latest gameplay footage, I've noticed some stuff I'm not too happy about. I thought it looked a bit like mad max, which is a gorgeous game. But this new footage is a bit less convincing. I noticed bland textures, very harsh pop in and such. If this game ends up looking anything like Just Cause 4 instead of Mad Max, I'm out. Guess I'll just have to wait for Digital Foundry to enlighten me. I can deal with 1080p on pro, if they have have a great looking game on their hands, with some real impressive post processing. But if it's another 720p looking show like jc4...well... count me out
"Predictable" is one of the weakest arguments for an action game, or any game really. It's a reflection of your bias, not the game itself. I mean, you could make the very same argument against Bloodborne, Spider-Man, any Fifa, Fortnite, Far Cry, Division 2, Odyssey ... nothing new and surprising there, and they still sold quite well I'd think.
where was that predictable critique for days gone? man ya'll are some shills sometimes..
@kyleforrester87 You really have a issue with that game day one cant wait for the game.
I've been playing some Far Cry: New Dawn lately and I thought how these two seemed very similar but I think Rage 2 looks way better. I won't get it right away and I'm sure a discount will come fairly soon so I'll wait for that.
@kyleforrester87 days gone had nothing to do with this article yet you found a way to work it in congrats
@dark_knightmare2 cheers mate I did it for you x
hmm.. not convinced going open world is the right move for rage. kinda looked a bit like far cry meets mad max meets doom.. which could be a lot of dull punctuated by brief interludes of carnage. it looks a bit like they went open world just because it's in vogue. i think it would benefit from a much tighter structure/focus to be honest.

Boring, bland and unoriginal, just like the first game, might pick it up when its $5.
As I've said in the past, this looks like a boring, generic snoozefest.
Games are freaking boring these days!
So just like (almost) every other FPS ever made then, sign me up!
If it is a fps open world with Doom combat mechanics like it looks lile I am totally sold at day 1.
It looks more original than Days Gone or any generic Far Cry tbh....
Quite pathetic that people need to put down another game in a thread not even related to it.
Attacking a game made by Sony even in articles related to another game, that’s so Push Square.
@Tasuki
I appologize for the numerous corrections! I should have understood by now!
