Re: Snazzy PS5 Trailer Encourages Upgrade from PS4

NorrinRadd

For anyone wondering, it is a giant upgrade. I’ve been playing on my PS five since launch and I had to use my PS4 Pro the other day because my daughter is using the PS five. I was playing destiny and the 30 frames per second was almost unplayable. Once you get used to that smooth 60, it’s really hard to go back.

“I really wish the pinnacle grind would change. I only enjoy high difficulty content and it sucks having to grind low level stuff again just to replay the same endgame stuff I was able to do a week ago.”

Exactly! Tired of the grind. I played from the D1 Alpha through to about 6 months ago. Tried jumping in with WQ and was eternally behind on the grind. Said goodbye 5 and a half weeks into Season of Plunder.

I agree with those of you who say that those games are masterpieces. When I played part one I was completely blown away. It was like nothing I had ever played before. Everything about it was stellar. You can’t really felt the gameplay as it’s a product of its time. Part two had the advantage of coming after many technological advances in gaming.

When I completed part one I couldn’t wait to play the sequel. Then I played part two and it was absolutely stunning. So much so that no other game even appealed to me for six months. That the game has such a polarizing audience seems to me to be a product of exactly what it was trying to do with the story. To me it was a complete and total success. Even if it did ruin gaming for me for half a year. I love it for that and I always will.

Sure.

That took 7 seconds on google. Apple makes a lot of money - but they are more charitable than virtually any Forbes 500 company. They also are environmentally conscious - all of their facilities as of NOW are carbon neutral and all of their product manufacturing will be by 2030. How many other corps are there?

Well, I guess we’re just going to have to differ on what we perceive as responsible “reporting”.

Three questions pop immediately to mind:

1.) Was this “news“ intended for public information at that particular time?

2.) is the information so newsworthy that we are willing to spoil for our consumers/readers the contents of the “news”?

3.) Do we want to be known as a site that has journalistic integrity towards our readers or do we want to be known as the breaking news leader, damn the torpedoes?

Re: The Last of Us 2 Celebrates First Anniversary with New Merch

I honestly think this game killed gaming for me. And what I mean by that is that it was such an amazing story/game that everything else that I have tried to play since then has paled in comparison and just seems shallow and inconsequential. I guess I’ll just wait for the next naughty dog offering?

Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Gets Combat Focused 'Mastery Challenge' Update This Spring

@ShogunRok

Ok maybe objectively bad was too strong,, but you can (and you did) do a direct comparison to something that would be almost universally considered better by any reasonable judgment in the combat that exists in ghost.

I didn’t really enjoy combat in odyssey until obtaining the skill that allowed you to teleport after an assassination, and chain that three more times. That to me was the most fun part of the game, but to get there you have to be almost through the entire game and by the time you acquired that skill the story was already over. To me that’s just bad game design. And the same thing is true in Valhalla – that all of the good stuff that makes you super powerful can’t be acquired really until after you complete the whole story. I wanna be able to use all the wonderful stuff while I’m in the story. I want to be able to be submersed in the story while feeling like a bad ass. I don’t wanna have to wait to feel that powerful until after the game is already over.

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Is Another £70 / $70 PS5 Game from Sony

@Shadow_Beast

This is exactly what gets my goat! When digital downloads first became a thing, we were told that this would be the future and it would be good for the consumer because it would be cheaper for them to buy digital and not have to go buy a physical copy of a game. And what do we have now? We have the identical price. Not very fair to those of us who are all digital, but for now I’ll live with it.

As for the original topic of games being raised in price? For as many hours as I get out of any game an extra 10 bucks is almost negligible to the amount of play per hour that I get. There’s a ton of moaning and whining going on here, and it makes me think that this site is just full of people who don’t have anything better to do than complain about the cost of video games! I feel like the people who comment on this site are absolutely NOT an accurate cross-section of the actual gaming public, because most people aren’t going to bat an eye at paying that extra 10 bucks for the new CoD or Madden.

Re: Soapbox: PS5 Pricing Is Setting Releases Like Returnal Up to Fail

NorrinRadd

I think the answer to your question lies in the poll results. Most people will be waiting for a sale to pick it up. This follows buying trends from the last generation. Sony are aware of this. And sales AT release aren't as indicative to the lifetime sales health of a game as they used to be. SO, price high at release for early adopters and then expect a bump when the title goes "on sale".

If you don't start the initial price at a high enough point, the sale price won't look as good or generate enough revenue. If you drop from $70 to $40 or even $35 - that's a heck of a deal! But - if you go from $50 to $40 - not so much.
