Update: The Destiny 2 Showcase has now confirmed all of the details listed below along with revealing the trailer for The Witch Queen expansion. It is indeed releasing on PS5 and PS4 on 22nd February 2022, and pre-orders will be available on the PS Store shortly.
Original story: Bungie is scheduled to reveal the next big expansion heading to Destiny 2 later today, but a new PlayStation Store listing appears to have spoiled the party for the developer. As spotted by True Trophies, a product on the Australian PS Store lists The Witch Queen DLC as releasing on 22nd February 2022. We'll have to wait until later in the day for the official trailer, but the listing reveals the expansion will house a new location to explore and "the definitive Destiny campaign".
The description goes on to explain how Guardians will "delve into Savathûn’s Throne World to uncover the mystery of how she and her Lucent Hive stole the Light. Learn the secrets to crafting new weapons, the new Glaive, and survive the truth within her web of lies." The new location will feature areas such as the antagonist's palace as well as a swamp, but another addition will be a new weapon type.
"Master the new Glaive weapon type and unleash powerful melee combos, projectile attacks, and a deployable energy shield," the PS Store listing reads. The Destiny 2 Showcase, where all of this information and more will be revealed, is scheduled to take place later today at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST. To whet your appetite until then, check out the teaser trailer Bungie recently posted.

There's stuff in the body of this article that is way more spoilery than a release date (we already knew Feb was on the cards) that maybe should have carried a separate and clearer warning...
@Marquez It's all info taken from a PlayStation Store listing, so it's just marketing stuff.
@LiamCroft I agree to a point but weapon crafting (if true) coming to Destiny would be a massive reveal and potentially a big part of Bungie's Twitch stream tonight at 5 BST. Not a big deal to me as I'll watch regardless, but just a heads up!
@Marquez
Agree on all counts. Is it a giant PITA to add a spoiler tag to the title? Come on, man.
And just because it’s info from a PS store listing doesn’t make it ripe for public publication. I mean this site has some Ethics and journalistic integrity, right?
@NorrinRadd It was posted publicly in a PS Store listing. This is information Bungie literally wants you to know to try and make you buy the DLC. They're hardly spoilers when they come from the developer itself.
@LiamCroft to be fair, you did take it from a sudden release on the Australian ps store so it definitely was not a planned world wide marketing release until after the twitch stream.
@DrJames That's not my problem, we're not here to serve publishers; we're here to report on news. The information was made public and therefore is free to cover. You would have found all of this out in a matter of hours anyway.
Yeah, I'm good. Gonna pass on this.
Sounds good! Always fun to hop back into destiny a few times a year. Hopefully this expansion delivers!
Destiny is still a thing??
As someone who never played Destiny, I can't even tell what's supposed to be a spoiler above. I guess I'm not the target demo.
@LiamCroft
Well, I guess we’re just going to have to differ on what we perceive as responsible “reporting”.
Three questions pop immediately to mind:
1.) Was this “news“ intended for public information at that particular time?
2.) is the information so newsworthy that we are willing to spoil for our consumers/readers the contents of the “news”?
3.) Do we want to be known as a site that has journalistic integrity towards our readers or do we want to be known as the breaking news leader, damn the torpedoes?
@NorrinRadd
"Spoilers" for a press release.. really?? Do you work for Bungie's marketing team?
@NorrinRadd You came to the website and you clicked the article. Don't blame the site for doing it's intended purpose. Blame yourself for visiting and clicking. The sites job is to report on video game news and this was put up on Sony's marketplace. Welcome to the internet.
@d-slice the plot of the new DLC is completely spoiled now that we know there's a witch queen.
Dude, they're charging for Gjallarhorn?!
Screw Bungie and their monetization system on this game. It seems I actually preferred when they were under Activision.
Leave @LiamCroft alone! Good work on reporting the news.
@Bdbrady Thanks!
Feb 2021? Shouldn't it be out by now then 🤔
@LiamCroft is the year wrong?
And I wished destiny would have just come out in games.. destiny 1, 2, 3, etc.. instead of just going on with expansions.. but just my preference, doesn’t matter
Calm down, children. Learning that you'll get a new weapon in the expansion is not a spoiler. It was already implied.
