Jim Ward, an American voice actor and radio host known for his work in video games and cartoons, has sadly passed away.

This comes via his radio co-host Stephanie Miller, who shared the news on social media.

Aged 66, the precise reason for his passing was not disclosed, but health issues relating to Alzheimer's disease coupled with COVID-19 forced him to retire in 2021.

Of Ward's impressive body of work, he is perhaps best known for providing the voice of Captain Qwark, a key character in Sony's Ratchet & Clank series.

He lent his talents to many other games, including the likes of Grim Fandango, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Batman: Arkham Knight to name a few.

People will know him from his many voice acting roles in cartoons as well; The Fairly Odd Parents, Danny Phantom, Ben 10, and more featured him prominently.

Ward was unable to provide the voice of Captain Qwark in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, replaced by Scott Whyte. However, developer Insomniac Games honoured his longstanding portrayal of the character in the end credits, with a Qwark statue featuring a microphone with 'JW' initials.

Our thoughts go out to Ward's family and friends at this difficult time.
