Update: As it turns out, these PS5 enhancements are actually being applied to the PS4 version of Sniper Elite 4 instead of Rebellion shipping a new native version. So instead of looking for a PS5 version on the PS Store, you need only download the pre-existing PS4 edition and ensure it's fully patched. Then you'll be ready to go with speedy load times, 4K resolution, and 60 frames-per-second. You're looking for update 1.18.
Original story: Rebellion's ball-busting sniping experience Sniper Elite 4 has been treated to a native PlayStation 5 version, available today on the PS Store. Those who already own the game on PS4 will receive a free upgrade, allowing them to access a 4K resolution, 60 frames-per-second, and faster load times on Sony's newest console.
When we reviewed the last-gen version more than four years ago, we awarded Sniper Elite 4 a 7/10, praising many of its features and mechanics. "Enormous, open levels augment Sniper Elite 4 with some of the best long-distance shootouts that the series has seen thus far. The under-the-hood improvements – paired with the idyllic Italian backdrop – do give this entry the edge over its predecessor, but if you've played one of these games before then you'll know more or less what to expect. Nevertheless, as far as ball busters go, it doesn't get much better (or wince-inducing) than this."
The game was included in the PS Plus lineup for August 2019, so there's a good chance you already own the PS4 version. After the likes of GreedFall and Final Fantasy VII Remake did not allow owners of the PS Plus version to freely upgrade to PS5, Sniper Elite 4 will. When asked on Twitter, Rebellion confirmed to us this is indeed the case. The official handle responded: "It will be yes."

My brother played this one and enjoyed it. I haven’t yet so might play the PS5 version. The third one was legitimately good.
Such moves are always welcomed and reputable. Haven't played Sniper Elite 4 yet though, but would probably give it a try with this ps5 update.
I might try this..i managed to buy a ps5 online but the order is still pending..fingers crossed..
Awesome. Love these games so much. I actually started playing through 4 again last week
@nessisonett In my opinion, this is the best of the series
@zebric21 A friend of mine managed to get a PS5 yesterday, so they are becoming more available
Always a great move to make it free. Puts a game that wasn't on my radar at all to wondering if I should give it a shot sometime
Wanted to try this. I did enjoy sniper elite 3 though i absolutely sucked at the multiplayer lol will be claiming the free upgrade
@Tomato_Goose You won't regret playing this. It's awesome.
@Jayslow Do it
@Danloaded Multiplayer is hard. As soon as you move...Dead lol.
@GoodGame the thing is that if the store hasn't a good and reliable eshop i could easily loose my order cause i was a few minutes late..also the store could ship the orders with the minimum shipping costs..online only policy isn't doing any favors to sony..
Surely if this is an update to the PS4 version then it’s not a native PS5 app??
Awesome move by Rebellion!
thank you rebellion
. been a fan since v1 and omg those xray shots DO NOT GET OLD 🤣😂👍
Nice update. I actually played this it too long ago. It’s a shame this doesn’t have a native version, because trigger resistance for the sniper rifle and also resistance for aiming over the shoulder, but aiming down the scope when you partially hold the left trigger down, would be absolutely amazing.
@Angelus3K
You're right. This also means no haptic feedback.
It's still a PS4 game with improvements to benefit from while playing on PS5.
@GoodGame right? I only played one round i think lol
See this is why we should be using the actual term for when purchasing a game on PS4 grants you the other: cross buy.
Upgrade, as we see here, also means substantial patch.
@Angelus3K Yep, it’s just an update to the PS4 game. But better than nothing.
That's a nice free update but no gyro aiming support added to the PS5 version? I'll still with the Switch version then. 60 fps is great but I'll take gyro and local wireless play over that...
Sweet, never played it. Maybe I should now.
Did anyone see the Shadow of the Tomb Raider PS5 patch? Looks absolutely fantastic, 4k60fps in high resolution mode. Feels next-gen!
Nice! I'll have to load it in again soon.
I have the PS4 version on a USB hard drive connected to my PS5. Do I need to move it to the SSD to play the upgraded version?
@MattyP From what I've seen/read, it's not actually a PS5 game upgrade. It's a patch to make the PS4 version run in 4K on the PS5.
@GoodGame oh ok, cheers. I’ve just updated it & it’s playing from the USB hard drive so I guess that’s it lol
@MattyP Yep. I can't find an actual PS5 version anywhere. The official site says PS4, PS5, but I watched a Youtube video and it says exactly that. Upgraded to run at 4K.

@GoodGame that article explains it, thanks for the link. It does look a lot better with the update, but then it would I guess 🤣
..aaand with that it’s back up to full price.
Nice! Bonus points for Rebellion not pulling the BS Square Enix did with FF7 Remake, even if I have no desire to play it.
I always wanted to try Sniper Elite but wasnt sure if id like it, in other words justify buying it.
Ive upgraded to PS Plus Premium, downloaded Sniper Elite 4 as its included.
I have to say im really enjoying it so far. I can see myself sinking a lot of hours into this before moving on to Sniper Elite 5.
