Last week, we asked you to vote for your most anticipated games yet to release in 2021. The next six months or so are looking very busy indeed for new releases on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, which resulted in a huge poll made up of over 60 games. Over 4000 votes were cast by the Push Square community.
Your votes have since been counted, and we're left with a worthy top ten, which we've listed in this article.
10. Cyberpunk 2077 (PS5) - 134 votes (3%)
9. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PS5) - 157 votes (4%)
8. Dying Light 2 - 165 votes (4%)
7. Battlefield 2042 - 171 votes (4%)
6. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy - 177 votes (4%)
5. Far Cry 6 - 183 votes (4%)
Say what you will about Ubisoft's open world games, but they always turn out to be pretty popular. Far Cry 6 just about scraped into this top five, but to be fair, it does look fun. Set on the fictional Caribbean island of Yara, you're up against its fascist ruler (played by Giancarlo Esposito) and his militaristic regime. Yep, this is Far Cry through and through, but an even bigger sandbox and a slew of new gameplay mechanics should make it one to watch.
4. Tales of Arise - 197 votes (5%)
There's been steady interest building around Tales of Arise, especially since its September release date was confirmed, but it's still a bit of a surprise to see the action RPG get so many of your votes. The Tales series has always been reasonably popular, but Arise looks to be broadening its appeal with great graphics and some seriously slick looking gameplay. There's real promise here for something quite special, and as far as anime-style games go, Tales of Arise is shaping up to be the heavy hitter of 2021.
3. Deathloop - 208 votes (5%)
Snapped up as a PlayStation exclusive before Microsoft's Bethesda buyout, Deathloop continues to be an anticipated release. Dishonored developer Arkane Studios is going big on style with this power-based shooter, as you're tasked with taking out different targets across a range of intricately designed levels — all while being hunted by another character who can cheat death. We've seen plenty of Deathloop already, and now we're just looking forward to getting our hands on the finished product. Just like you, apparently!
2. Kena: Bridge of Spirits - 520 votes (12%)
Absolutely flying ahead into second place, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is that stunning indie title which was first announced at Sony's PS5 reveal event. While we haven't seen much raw gameplay footage, it's safe to say that Kena has the potential to be a bit of a showstopper. Enchanting environmental design, gorgeous animations, and what looks like a cool combat system could combine to create a next-gen must-buy. Here's hoping that we get to see more of it soon.
1. Horizon Forbidden West - 921 votes (22%)
It was inevitable, wasn't it? Horizon Forbidden West is your most anticipated game for the rest of 2021, and it's not even close. The PS5 and PS4 exclusive looked utterly jaw-dropping during its gameplay demonstration back in May, clearly building upon what was already a fantastic open world excursion in Horizon Zero Dawn. Of course, there's only one problem with Forbidden West being on this list, and that's its actual release date. Indeed, Sony has said that the sequel might not hit this year, despite developer Guerrilla Games' best efforts. Still, there's absolutely no mistaking the hype for Aloy's next adventure.
Did your most anticipated games make the cut? Make a case for your favourites, and let us know whether you agree with the top ten in the comments section below.

Not surprised to see that Top3 - I voted for 2 of them myself
Can't wait for Kena!
No Lost Judgment? Shame on you all.
cyberpunk yes
horizon will wait for the directors cut
I nearly spat my drink out when I saw the 10 and 9 games. Like I get why people will be interested, just wasn't expecting it.
Btw did we get results article on our E3 predictions or did I miss it?
@RBMango Lost Judgment wasn't too far behind, I think it placed 11th or 12th. I agree though, disgraceful.
You got the Top 3 right!
...well my top 3 anyway
Tales of Arise - check
Kena BoS - check
Horizon FW - check
= yeah, we good : )
Really looking forward to Far Cry myself. That and BF 2042 are my most anticipated games
No Diablo 2 love?
Would hardly describe the HZW gameplay as jaw dropping.
It was mediocre at best and didn’t excite me in the slightest.
Kena on the other hand looks very good as does Deathloop.
No interest in DeathLoop so my Top 5 would be:
5,Marvels Guardians Of The Galaxy
4,Far Cry 6
3,Dying Light 2
2,Kena Bridge Of Spirits
1,Horizon Forbidden West.
As much as I'm looking forward to the Tales Of Arise game I couldn't put it in my top 5 just in case it disappoints like the last couple.Let's hope it's as good as Graces F!
Life is Strange is also a game I'm really looking forward to.
I don't understand the excitement for Deathloop. The others in the top 4 I totally agree with!
@Hurblyburbly you're one person and in the minority so your opinion isn't widely shared and it is indeed jaw-dropping to alot of people. Horizon is objectively better.
Uhh Kena on 2nd place, that’s nice
Hopefully it won’t be delayed again.
That bottom 5 is so weak it makes the year look awful!
@Splat
1 Horizon, 2 Kena, 3 Diablo 2! I am playing Diablo 3 seasons now ☺
Genuinely interested : anyone who voted for Far Cry 6... why?
To me, it felt as a PS4 game with very few improvements from any of the previous games.
But I'm not a big fan of the series (my favorites are Primal and Blood Dragon, and I quite liked FC5, but neither FC3 nor FC4... never played FC1 and FC2), so maybe I'm not seeing what makes this iteration something to be waiting for.
Kena, Horizon and Tales of Arise will do me nicely.
@middyone
Ok so your point is what?
I shared my opinion. So I’m in the minority.
Thanks for pointing that out
Shadow warrior 3 for me.word up son
I would honestly say that we need to ban the 134 users excited for Cyberpunk lol some people don't learn, I guess
No Lego Star Wars? I can't wait for that one!
@JohnKarnes Good list. All three will be day one for me.
@Hurblyburbly there was no point. Just sharing my opinion as well. You're welcome.
Deathloop doesn't look like anything impressive. Kinda just looks like doom but you can teleport and there's a loop when you die. Kena looks good but i'll have to wait to see more.
I had Witcher 3 as my personal 3rd, but other than that it's hard to argue with anything on this list.
Kena and HZD. Can't wait. Getting very excited thinking about them.
When you compare the year we've had so far to the first year of the PS4, it's an epic improvement.
Very happy so far.
SOOOOOO happy Kena is so high up on the list 😁
I definitely agree with the top 2 winners, but would replace Deathloop with either Life is Strange: True Colors or Guardians of the Galaxy.
I want to play kena, atomic hearts, the world ends with you 2 and axiom verge 2
@AFCC I know right 😂😂😂
No FIFA 22? Madden 22?
I plan to at least try 4 out the top 5. Death Loop being the one left out. Swap that one out with Lost Judgment and we are set for myself!
@Olmaz No reply in 2h30... and nobody commenting on how they're waiting for Far Cry 6.
You know what, I'm going to go full conspiracy theory here and say it : I think Ubisoft is extremely heavy handed with media outlets, to the points that any criticism, or even lack of positive coverage, of their game is going to have big impact on the access of the outlet to Ubisoft products.
We have already quite a lot of independent people (Youtubers mostly, but that's because I use mostly this media) saying how Ubisoft has "banned" them from receiving their products because of a bad reviews, so it's not that out there of a theory.
I mean, check the big media outlets and tell me which one covered the absolute technical debacle that Assassin's Creed Valhalla has been. The most you got is a quick and mild acknowledgement of said technical issues when an update is published.
Look at the reviews and how positive they are. Look how big the coverage of anything Ubisoft is (even freaking game updates!). So while I want to trust PushSquare on that, I must say I'm dubious about the result of Far Cry 6 in this survey.
To prove me wrong, please, Far Cry 6 fans, make yourselves known!!!
@Royalblues If that game is as wonderful as it looks they definitely should I think Ember Lab have serious potential and having a team dedicated to amazing platforming games like that would be a godsend. Kena looks like a game straight out of the PS2 era and I can't get enough of it 😁
@Olmaz I loved the Far Cry series, the first game on PC was my OG fps and 2 was my favourite PS3 shooter - but I agree.
I really liked Far Cry 3. Far Cry 4 felt very comfortable and lowered my expectations for the series in seeing how little they evolved the formula, but was still GREAT fun.
Then I played Far Cry 5. The series was never great literary art but told effective survival thriller stories nonetheless. Five started the trend of empty social commentary, ROFLCOPTER gag trash that was dated once 2012 ended. The story was shallow, the characters were pathetically empty and it some of the T>R>A>S>H humour was actually quite depraved, like making players burn animals alive to Marvin Gaye songs or beating a trapped screaming pig to death 'for the lols'. I'm fine with hunting mechanics and fighting predatory animals in a survival game - but honestly it left the worst taste in my mouth. It felt like it was developed by disgusting people with nothing to say - the tone of the game was that gross -and that's to say nothing of the awful writing which aspired to be so much more than it was. The A.I and "chaos" of the open world was too much. It felt like a broken piece of sandbox steam junk that someone had asset flipped together. The game was a lazy 'throw ***** at a wall' mess, though in spite of that retained an entertaining but repetitive gameplay loop.
So yeah, how do I feel about Far Cry 6. If 4 and 5 felt like PS3 games remastered, 6 is becoming a joke. Watch Dogs legion had much the same energy of FC5 to me, and the disabled bomb dog indicates they're continuing the trend. Gimmick after gimmick after gimmick. It would be a 'wait for £20-£30 sale' buy for me, but after 5 I'm concerned it won't even be that.
Mine are god of war and gran turismo.....
Already into second half of the year, so many on this list I can't see making it. Haven't seen a single screenshot of witcher 3 either.
Kena, Horizon, and Diablo II for me.
Honestly, kind of light release schedule after the blitzkrieg of releases in the first half, but it will provide a much-needed opportunity to catch up on my backlog.
Imagine voting for Guardians of the Galaxy and Far Cry 6 that high up the list. Ha, that could never be me.😂😎
The Witcher 3? What? Like come on now, what year is it. I see stuff like this list and I lose faith the gaming community😟
Just HFW for me. As a cross-gen title developed primarily for the PS4, it should run well, and without the hideous next-gen hero lighting, too.
Might grab Kena down the line if gets a deep sale and/or a physical edition releases on PS4.
So no Psychonauts 2, Life Is Strange, Hades, Back 4 Blood, man even Farming Simulator 22?!
The Witcher & Cyberpunk?! Are you kidding me? My opinion of alot of you dropped hard on that one! Geez
Awesome! So glad to see Kena so high up in this list. It looks stunning, and I can hardly wait to play it. It's actually my most wanted game at the moment.
I'm surprised, and a bit sad to see Dying Light 2 so low on the list.
Cyberpunk...just...🤦♂️
@JapaneseSonic
I believe it was meant for late 2021, but with everything going on at CDPR, I'm not holding out hope it will release when they say. I hope I'm wrong though.
I get the feeling some people are going to be very disappointed with the sort of game Kena winds up being. Hopefully they aren't expecting some AAA grandiose in scale game.
@JapaneseSonic thats exactly what i was thinking…👀
Sy-fu for me.looks decent.
Great year the rest of the way across all platforms. I'd say my top 10 most anticipated are...
1. Metroid: Dread
2. Lost Judgment
3. Horizon: Forbidden West
4. No More Heroes 3
5. Kena: Bridge of Spirits
6. Forza Horizon 5
7. Tales of Arise
8. Guardians of the Galaxy
9. Severed Steel
10. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
Well pleasantly surprised to see Kena Bridge of Spirts and Tales of Arise (two of my pre-orders) make the top five in the vote.
Overall I think the end of this year is gonna be very good for me in terms of playing 'new games' and of course I'm looking forward to Far Cry 6 too.
@ATaco Not at all well for me at least too me it looks like an amazing fun little AA PS2 era style platformer I don't think anyone's expecting God Of War IV from this game
Hi there fellow gamers.
Yup, my 3 game choices are there, Deathloop, Tales of Arise, Horizon Forbidden West and one of my other choices, Kena Bridge of Spirits. All for my precious PS5 😉
There´s also Metroid Dread for my Switch and The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles for my PS4.
Playing Zesteria on PC is making me super hyped for Arise.
Can´t wait. Really good games until the end of 2021.
And all of them so different as well.
Cheers, stay safe eveyone and happy gaming to us all
Deathloop and Horizon for me! I wasn't very impressed with the most recent footage of Kena unfortunately so that has dropped down a good few places for me.
Honourable mention for Witcher 3 - that could shoot up the ranks once we get some footage. I tried to replay the PS4 version recently and after playing through some incredible looking open worlds like Red Dead 2 and Valhalla in recent years, Witcher 3 is starting to look quite dated indeed.
@Olmaz I voted for Far Cry 6. The latest trailer sold it to me - mad weapons and companions, customisable vehicles and a voiced female protagonist which is a first for the series. I think it looks like cracking fun.
@ApostateMage @JapaneseSonic Thanks for the reply!
