Re: Switch 2 RPG Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Rated for PS5

Jaz007

This puts me in a weird spot, I have a pre-order for the Switch 2 version, but I don’t want to play an inferior version of the game. I’ll probably keep ot since who knows when this come out. Sometimes I just want clear cut excuses and non-exclusives though. I did a pre-order because I thought it was a console exclusive for the Switch 2 like 5 (which I never played) was.

Re: Iconic 90s Dating Sim Remake Dokyusei Makes Surprise Appearance on PS4

Jaz007

@thefourfoldroot1 Believe it or not some of us want VNs but not porn. Not to mention the consoles releases will often enough come out with new scenes to replace the explicit ones, like with Nekopara’s excellent console releases.

I would never play the adult versions of Nekopara, but I’ll be there day one for the console releases.

Re: Iconic 90s Dating Sim Remake Dokyusei Makes Surprise Appearance on PS4

Jaz007

@Acquiescence Common practice with VNs. They have much more than sex scenes and tell actual stories without them. In fact, many VNs have sex in them because it’s a common practice, not because it fits the story or the creator even wants them.
Sometimes they aren’t even in the story and are just a main menu option after you beat the game.

Re: Opinion: Baldur's Gate 3 Was Already a 10/10, But Updates Have Made It an All-Time Masterpiece

Jaz007

@doctommaso Why? Gale’s quest talks up the crown as a huge event, and then the quest journal never says finished, it says to get the crown, telling that’s an in-game thing and the quest has the best yet to come. Then it never happens, the game ends and Gale says he’ll just go do that on his own. Gale’s quest was set up to be one of the most epic things to ever be in a game, except it just didn’t and you never do or see the big event he talks about. They just didn’t finish it and have no plans to.

Re: Opinion: Baldur's Gate 3 Was Already a 10/10, But Updates Have Made It an All-Time Masterpiece

Jaz007

Honestly, the third act turns into an incomplete disaster that doesn’t even finish or reach the climax of all the question lines or companion quest lines. The evil ending is still a bad add-on that wasn’t taken seriously either and forgets your companions have stories, even the evil ones. (Frankly the upside to the evil endings after almost a year was almost an insult because it looked like it was cobbled together in two weeks)
It throws away your choices big time and stops respecting them.
This update needed to address many story issues, not had more subclasses.
I have never seen a game start as a real 10/10 and then crash and burn so hard and still get called a 10/10 while it’s clear they have no plans of ever finishing the game.

Re: PSVR2's Best New Game About to Get Even Better

Jaz007

I’ve been having issues where if I open a hiding spot to hide or to hide a body, it opens halfway and gets stuck and I can’t use it. I hope that gets fixed and I think it will. However, they really need to add in the ability to keep in first person at all times, even during the animations that you were putting in third person for Some of the coolest stuff from the first version on PSVR1, are now ruined because you’re taking out of the moment. Just make it like resident evil eight cut scenes where it’s a locked animation. It might be a little janky, but it’s so much better than the awful third person they have going on. It’s a perfectly acceptable jank too. Resi 8 cutscenes were incredible in VR.

Re: Round Up: Civilization 7 Reviews Are Glowing Ahead of PS5 Launch

Jaz007

The average is 78 on PC right now. This is actually very low for a Civ game which usually gets 90 and above. This is likely a drop in quality and many of the changes they are making seem bad. I stopped looking forward to Civ 7 a while ago. Give me Civ 8 where I can play as the Roman Empire the entire game.

Sad to see Civ fall, but I’m not surprised at all since I’ve followed some of the news for it.

Re: Horizon's MMO Appears to Have Been Cancelled

Jaz007

@get2sammyb People do buy them, they just aren’t as big potentially as the online games. They also get cancelled less and don’t result in giant concord losses.
They’re less risky than these games. We need more games that aren’t built on giant budget like we used to have.

What is Sony supposed to do? Barely make any games because live service ends up as a disaster and SP apparently doesn’t sell?

Re: Shuhei Yoshida on PSVR2: 'I'm Sorry'

Jaz007

@tameshiyaku I’m pretty sure the attack rate is very high. A game can sell more on Quest, but while PSVR2 has a much smaller install base, more of that base or an equal amount might be likely to buy in practice.

Re: Shuhei Yoshida on PSVR2: 'I'm Sorry'

Jaz007

First one had some better first-party support, but the PSVR2 is honestly a better purchase than PSVR1 at this point.
I wouldn’t say it’s agreed that it’s a failure, I would say it’s agreed Sony did not do its best or close to it. There’s obviously a good market for devs to keep putting games on it and I imagine the software attach rate is very high.

Re: Lists of Sony’s Cancelled Live Service PS5 Games Paint a Worrying Picture

Jaz007

@nomither6 I feel like Factions would if not a giant hit, been fine if ND had just released it and not had Bungie told them it wasn't sustainable. MP used to not be forever deals, and it would have been fine for factions to do that too like ND's previous MP attempts.

Sony is listening to bad ideas that weird like Concord, trying to put square cubes into circular holes with SP games as live service, and then just not willing to let something be a SP and MP mix that isn't a huge, but is successful. Twisted Metal should have just had another traditional premium entry without a huge focus on post-release monetization but Sony is floundering these days sadly.

Re: Poll: Do You Use PS Stars?

Jaz007

It’s a nice points program, but the tasks are terrible. If you own a game you can’t get points for buying it, so loyalty is punished there.
It’s good to at least leave in the background. Certain games are like half off with the points, otherwise always get the credit.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for January 2025 Announced

Jaz007

I wish I hadn’t bought that NFS a while back. It should be the new one, Unbound though. Suicide Squad should have been a 4th, not a normal one. Thanks for dying game no one wanted.
Sanely Parable seems cool.
Honestly, this month feels like someone lowered the budget for 2025.

Re: Unfazed by Concord, Sony Doubles Down on Exploring Service Games

Jaz007

@crossbit Helldivers 2 is very much defined by being live service, and the entire story of the game is build around it. It’s built upon the opportunities live service brings though, not the monetization aspects. It uses live service for storytelling in a way never seen before and doesn’t just iteratively add single player like storytelling.
And so people love it because it does it the right way.

Re: Helldivers 2 Dev Arrowhead Takes Blame for Killzone Pricing Blunder

Jaz007

@PloverNutter It’s not that the weapons weren’t over-powered, it’s that they nerfed them into the ground, even if for a bug, and had no plans to revert after the bug.
They buffed the flamethrower a few times, boasted about certain things it could do, then made it useless when they released the flame warbond. It stopped me from buying some supercredits until the game got patched.
Some nerfs are fine, how they liked to burn the down the house in order to get rid of a few spiders instead of just removing perhaps not all at once.

Re: Helldivers 2 Dev Arrowhead Takes Blame for Killzone Pricing Blunder

Jaz007

So why does the warbond need to be priced higher? There should be no licensing fees because Sony owns Killzone and published Helldivers. Just release it as another warbond.
For finances maybe decrease super credit spawn rates on trivial missions? That’s how people farm. For some reason there seems to be more super credits there than playing on normal fun difficulties, which doesn’t even make sense. That’s be a good way of doing it.
The fact is other live service games are designed to bleed your wallet, HD isn’t and people like that.

Re: Helldivers 2 Devs Gift Players Second Wave of Killzone Crossover Content for Free

Jaz007

@LogicStrikesAgain Sony published Helldivers 2 and controls which platforms it’s on and whatnot. It’d pretty much be Sony paying Sony lol.

I hear you though, there is a balance to strike and AH is far better than most, I’m just worried about a slippery slope. I think superstore weapons are a bridge too far, so that needs to addressed in general. I feel giving some stuff away for free is a very nice band-aid, but only a band-aid.

I think they also put themselves in a bad spot by making it kinda too late to turn it into a warbond which it easily could have been and should have been.
@The_Wailing_Doom See above paragraph, they made it so there is no right answer by their own hand and fault. This is the only game over eve bought current for because it wasn’t trying to Nickel and dime me. This cross-over was nickel and diming me.

Re: Helldivers 2 Devs Gift Players Second Wave of Killzone Crossover Content for Free

Jaz007

It’s great this was free after the outrageous prices, but now we need to get the other KZ stuff and superstore weapons given away. This is simply not good enough and after the big mistep.
They should have simply made all of this a war one from the start. It costs super-credits, but it’s reasonable.
Helldivers 2 is the only game I have ever bought currency for because it doesn’t feel like it’s nickel and diming me, it’s feels fair. I hope they don’t lose that.
