Battlefield 6 is just three (and a bit) weeks from launch, and it feels like the game's been picking up wins for a while. The general consensus is that Battlefield is back, baby.
However, a potential sticking point has only just been made apparent: the shooter will not feature console-only crossplay.
This news has come as a bit of a shock, since just a few days ago, senior combat designer Matthew Nickerson had stated that disabling crossplay would allow PS5 players to match with Xbox players, and vice versa.

But that's not actually the case. As it turns out, EA has since clarified (via Dexerto) that disabling crossplay will limit you to playing with players on your platform alone.
So why's that such a big deal for some people? Well, for most, the bottom line here is that they don't want to be matched against players on PC, who have an innate advantage in using a mouse to aim.
And of course, there's also the concern that PC players can make use of certain software — cheats — to gain the upper hand.
Ideally, disabling crossplay, and therefore removing PC players from your pool of potential opponents, would let you play against anyone on console — a healthy mix of PS5 and Xbox players. But for whatever reason, Battlefield 6 isn't going to let you do that.
How do you feel about this? Would you have much preferred to have crossplay across PS5 and Xbox, or is it not that big of a deal? Fiddle with your sensitivity settings in the comments section below.
