Re: Another Highly Regarded PSVR2 Dev on the Brink After Mass Layoffs

@AdamNovice Live service wasn’t something that should be abandoned and they had some good ones, but largely their efforts failed and didn’t even come out. The ones you mentioned would have happened almost independent of trends too. The number of eggs they put in the basket was short sighted and a bad idea. If they don’t see that putting some of them literally anywhere else would have been better, they should replace them because they can’t admit failure and can’t read the room outside of a spreadsheet of trends. So many of their studios wasted years of development time and they took big losses in this. So when I say some VR games would have been better than many of their failed projects, I mean that objectively and from a revenue perspective - not because I want VR games (though I do).

They’ve had a lot of mismanagement recently. I really hope they get people that can see their mistakes for their sake and ours as gamers.

Re: Another Highly Regarded PSVR2 Dev on the Brink After Mass Layoffs

@AdamNovice I think they’ve would’ve made more money from the VR because it wouldn’t have just been a bunch of expensive cancelled projects.VR games would have sold something and boosted the profits overall from the headset.
From a business point of view, it was foolish trend chasing that wasn’t well planned IMO.

Re: 'We're Going to Pull Funding if You Don't Fix This': Uncharted 4 Was Almost Cancelled on PS4 Because It 'Sucked'

Jaz007

This makes sense. It’s the worst Uncharted game all things considered IMO. Pacing is bad, fights are very short, set pieces are a shell of what they were in U3, I was waiting for the game to actually get on U3’s level once and it never did. Way too much climbing and not enough action.
And when I say it’s the worst, I mean that Golden Abyss also was a better game in its own right than 4 was.
I was super hyped for U4 only to feel like the game never even truly started once I played it.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Believes Exclusives Make Consoles 'Sing'

Jaz007

@BAMozzy In theory this sounds good, but in practice there’s lots of TV makers and the sell TVs for profit, consoles are often sold at a loss or are to start with to get people into an ecosystem. On TV I might have a CR or Netflix account, but on console I have a console account that gets the console maker money when I buy a game. Not to mention a TV just runs something, a console has to have a version made specifically for it, which even if technically possible, costs time and money. There just won’t be competition naturally like with TV and without gamers buying multiple consoles or there being fighting over the customer base, there’s not enough market for multiple consoles.
We’re more likely to lose healthy competition than gain it because the market is so wildly different without exclusives IMO.

Re: 'Even I Can't Tell the Difference': Shuhei Yoshida Thinks PS6 Needs Something Other Than Just More Power

Jaz007

I think one more generation of more power for better resolutions, better framerate, and making developing ambitious games easier, more possible, and less costly to optimize (since less is needed) will still be good for another gen. Plus VR could definitely use the power. PS6 could do great things with the PSVR2 and they could basically relaunch it again on the PS6. Cheaper with and built in user base.

Re: Write Full-Length Reviews for Your Favourite (or Least Favourite) PS5, PS4 Games on the PS Store

Jaz007

So, I can tell who plays smaller games here I feel like. The reviews aren’t for AAA games so much as games that are smaller. I shouldn’t have to go to Steam to see if a small game or indie game is good or a real game or the rubbish slop they let on to the store now. This will sort that out. Crazy it took this long and now that it’s only on web. It needs to be on the apps soon.

Re: New Dying Light 2 PS5, PS4 Patch Has Completely Changed the Game

Jaz007

@Reeneman Because it’s fundamentally altering how a single player game people already bought paid for with no ability to play the game they actually bought if they want to. Great as an option, even by default, but people should absolutely be able to turn the stamina back on.
Games being altered after release has happened too many times now.
