Re: Stellar Blade PS5 Fans Irate Over Alleged Censorship

Jaz007

@DennisReynolds We can know through reason and prudence. In fact, all situations with a vague similarity are not the same and don’t need to be treated the same. There’s been a pattern here and we all know there’s not a good reason to think “but muh Spider-Man” is the same thing.

@NotoriousWhiz Tell the slippery slope is false to Japanese devs who have no idea of their game will be sold on PlayStation (while having no duty) while CyberPunk and Baldur’s Gate have a dong slider. (Which for point of reference, I think disallowing something that extreme as a clear company policy is reasonable, clear being an operative word).

Re: Stellar Blade PS5 Fans Irate Over Alleged Censorship

Jaz007

This is wrong. If it was already intended, it should not have gone gold.
This is changing the product bought, not updating, changing and taking away.
They should have added an “alt” version to choose, not removed the original.
For context, I prefer the one of the right (post-patch) and think it’s more tasteful. However, the game went gold, and they sold it. This is important for them to understand. I’m not sure I believe him and I don’t side with him.

Re: Sexy Lara Croft Posters Will Return in Next Tomb Raider Remastered Patch

Jaz007

@nomither6 It’s also nonsensical. If they weren’t in the game already, wouldn’t necessarily argue for them frankly, but at the same time we have the weird stuff in BG3 and that’s fine. Stuff that actually “crosses a line” is fine so to speak, but anything more “normal” and is just a bit spicy and not terribly offensive is problematic.

Re: Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Update Quietly Removes Sexy Lara Croft Pinups

Jaz007

Why? Keep it pixelated at worst? This is dumb, especially after it launched. They sold a product and are retracting it. Frankly, there should be laws against this. Supeehot VR had it really bad where they removed the suicide, first by making it optional in the menu, they patronizingly telling we deserved better and removing it entirely, you know, when no one asked for it.

Re: Everybody's Golf Dev Skips PSVR2 for New VR Golf Game

Jaz007

@NEStalgia I personally feel like PSVR2 offers much more than Vita ever offered at this point. Sony has problems supporting it unless there’s something we don’t know, but third party support has been quite good so far.
Sony really just needs to ensure games don’t just go to Meta at the least.

Re: Extra Evil Endings Planned for Baldur's Gate 3

Jaz007

Dark urge aside, there is only a joke of an afterthought for an evil ending right now, so this is good news.
It should have been there at launch and we should be be acting like this is a "great example of going above and beyond", this is base expected content being put in the game over half a year after launch. Every site I've seen has terrible reporting on BG3 stuff added after launch.

The current evil ending a bad cartoon, so imagining something more evil is not hard. I also hope it actually respects your choices (certain evil alliances at the end will actually carry through and you see what happens) and doesn't require me to restart the game but just use one of my already late-game saves that I've kept so carefully.

Re: No Baldur's Gate 3 DLC from Larian Studios, and It's Not Making Baldur's Gate 4 Either

Jaz007

@mazzel Assuming it’s like the two Divinity DE, it would redo Act 3 big time. There would be more endings, more consequences to choices, more choices would follow through, companion side quests for Minthara and towers would get added, Gale’s and Karla’s quests would get finished, more dialogue between companions like the first, act 3 would also have a lot more camp cutscenes, a few blatantly unfinished quests in Act 3 (the firework shop) would get finished.
It would be huge.
Act 1&2 would also be changed to accommodate for Act 3’s changes too.
So essentially all the cut content would get added back in.
Saves from the original game would just be incompatible because the story would change so much.

Re: Feb 2024 USA Sales: Helldivers 2 Kills It as 2024's Best-Selling Game So Far

Jaz007

@Ralizah too many games look to see what they can add what they should be seeing what they can cut.
For budget and for game quality. Many games for example would have made the ship in Helldivers 2 far too big and with stuff far apart, spending more money on making it and pushing up the budget.
The game is both better and cheaper for keeping it so small and concise.
"content" in some ways has become a terrible buzzword.

Re: Sony Allegedly Pausing PSVR2 Production Due to Surplus of Unsold Stock

Jaz007

@NEStalgia this is quarterly market share for PSVR2, so no PSVR1.
Here’s where I saw it. I haven’t looked deep into its reliability, but trust it more than Bloomberg’s guy. (Faint praise, I know.)
https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/comments/1bemj0c/psvr2_market_share_by_quarter_units_sold_psvr2/

I agree about Jim Ryan, I think he knows how to boost some profit short term, but he doesn’t think out of the box enough for the long term.
Sony got where it is now by taking creative risks and building up exclusives very well.
I think the direct only thing is a good example too. It was a shortsighted decision that doesn’t take into account any ways to actually solve the problems (PS4 has no issues when pre-orders launched). It just moved it away from risk of that one problem without considering what was sacrificed in the process. Very short-term reactionary thinking.

Re: Sony Allegedly Pausing PSVR2 Production Due to Surplus of Unsold Stock

Jaz007

@NEStalgia I think some proper marketing could help a lot. Making the launch only the for the hardcore willing to buy from Sony direct no extra warranty was an awful idea. They got rid of free marketing from stores and them hyping it up wanting pre-orders.
but what if it sold out? GOOD! You think making sure the "loyals" get one in the first 3 months will be better by any real metric in the long term?
I think a price drop with some new games could do a lot as long we get support from Sony like the PSVR1 did.
I did find a VR market study that more or less said Sony sold about 2M so far and it was holding a 35% VR market share consistently outside when the Q3 launched.
