Personally I don't really know if putting the events in chronological order will work for TLOU2. I really liked seeing everything through Ellie's eyes. Like any person she remembers things from the past when something in the present reminds her of it. It also made things in the story more of a surprise. Especially at the very end, with that last flashback you realize why she was so obsessed.

I don't think the decline of FF can be attributed to the lack of turn based combat. There's still room for action heavy games to succeed. I think it's just because Square can't/doesn't want to(?) change or evolve. You can't just copy something else and expect people to keep going along for the ride. The reason Clair Obscur felt new and fresh imo is because it did its own thing. They took the turn based design and made it their own through changes and additions. I always appreciate when studios aren't afraid to take risks, especially when games today can feel quite same-y.

I'm curious to see how well this game does. It's a cheaper price so that might help it at least a little.

@nessisonett There already is 😐 From what I can see it's mostly just them trying to convince others that it's "not that bad", trying to get others to buy it, or just making excuses for the devs' weird behavior. It hasn't gotten into full-on aggressive weirdo territory yet.

Hopefully the game will finally meet Square's "sales expectations" now. They're running out of things/people to blame.

@GravyThief Some people that got the physical carts have already dumped the rom so you should be able to find it with a bit of searching. I doubt WayForward would sell the rom itself.

A Japanese only console is a really interesting idea and would make sense to have over there. I doubt Sony will be too bothered though. They left Japan behind long ago and probably still expect Nintendo to outsell them there as they did before regardless.

I assume it's because Sony is still selling its own hardware. It goes back to the issue Microsoft is currently having right now with the Xbox; If their games are available everywhere then why would anyone need that platform? As long as Sony's trying to sell consoles it wouldn't make sense to allow that imo.

I wonder how many copies sold would be enough for Ubisoft to consider it a "success". Too often these companies put unrealistic expectations on their games so I hope it turns out well.

@RBMango You definitely still can, that's what it actually sells for. The article only mentions the outrageously priced ones. But they're mostly for sale currently in the $20-30 range lol

No, I think using "scam" in the phrasing is definitely appropriate here. But it's kind of insane that the devs would want to put a spotlight on that whole disaster by filing a lawsuit lol

Not too surprising but still sad to see. I enjoyed it okay but it had too many issues. Released in buggy, unpolished state and weird monetization by Square didn't do it any favors.

I remember it being kinda weird at the time the "Ultimate" edition was announced that those suits and mission were missing. But I suppose it's good for players just jumping in now.

I'm thankful for the PS5 version since I really enjoyed this game, but it's crazy how many bad PC ports continue to be released. I thought 2023 was bad but it just seems to get worse.

I'm glad Sony's still making these unique controllers, seems like a no brainer for all their big IP. Now with that being said, please release a Horizon one 🙏

@Rich33 That's what I had thought. Since games seem to leak pretty frequently now, I figured at least one of these companies would have already figured out a way to keep people from playing early just in case. But since it's a physical copy I guess those players could theoretically just play it offline to bypass any update.

Given how much this game has been through, at this point I'd almost think it was cursed 👻

I know copies of games being leaked early has become a pretty common thing now to the point it's actually surprising when it doesn't happen, but for it to happen almost a full month before release is crazy if this is true.

With all the time and resources put into these pc releases for little return at this point, I gotta wonder if it's even worth it. Obviously the quality matters but "expanding their audience" through these players doesn't really seem to be much of a thing anymore.

It's great there's going to be a physical release. Hopefully they'll have the option for disc owners to upgrade to the deluxe version too.

While I understand how much it sucks to be a big fan of something that eventually just goes away, at this point it's probably best for them to just accept that it probably won't ever happen.

You're not joking. I remember being a kid really excited for this game since I really loved the series. Then the game released...
But just for my own nostalgia it would've been kinda funny if Aspyr used the original version of the game that has the game breaking progression blocker in it lol

Which sucks because with the cost of living always increasing it's nice for people to have options to get games at cheaper prices.

For a base version of any game, absolutely not. I could understand for a special edition or something like that, but if 100 a pop ever did happen I wonder how many would be priced out and just wouldn't bother anymore.

I'm glad Sony didn't follow that path. With the budgets of games increasing it's too much of a gamble to put all their hopes in these subscriptions especially if they end up failing. Every player is different you know; Some people only buy that one big release every year, and some game all year round. It's nice these services exist for those that want them, but imo they should always be an option and not a complete replacement.

Nope. There's no point in watching it (for me at least). Any game announcements/info I'm interested in will be everywhere online right after anyway so I'll just check afterward.

I still remember getting the PS1 as a kid. We did have a Genesis that I played before that but that was my Dad's. Having a system that was mine was pretty sweet. I had played so many games both good and bad; From the awful, yet incredible(for all the wrong reasons) Phantom Menace, to Spyro 2. Ghost in the Shell, Crash, Fighting Force, Mega Man Legends, Parappa, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Medievil, just to name a few.
God now I feel old 😑

@somnambulance Spin Master just recently started making figures of PS games. They're currently doing human characters (Aloy, Jin, Kratos the ones you'd expect to be made first) but they'll probably do other non-human ones if they sell well. Ratchet, Astro etc.
