Re: Official Ghost of Yotei Popcorn Bucket Triggers Tedious Takes on PS5 Exclusives

JackiePriest

"Sony’s attracted criticism for investing in story-telling."

That's such a weird thing complain about. Especially when those types of games made them stand out and forge their own identity at a time when big companies tried telling anyone who'd listen that single player games were "dead". Now those are the games people come to the PS ecosystem for (or beg for ports of).

The samurai movie tie is a great idea though. And the design of the bucket is really nice too, I'd like to get one if I can.

Re: Helldivers 2 Xbox Announcement Prompts Avalanche of Spider-Man Port Begging

JackiePriest

"With many assuming the post is teasing some kind of incoming announcement."

Why? lol That's a pretty big leap there with just a tweet πŸ˜‚ You can kind of understand it with Helldivers. But I can't ever see Sony porting its own single player stuff over, especially with Xbox's days as a platform already being numbered by MS themselves. PS games would have to sell as poorly as Microsoft's stuff is currently selling to realistically consider that. And as we've seen recently with other companies, the long-term harm to their brand just wouldn't be worth it.

Re: Astro Bot Has Added Its Most Wanted Cameo in Huge PS5 Update

JackiePriest

It's crazy Square even allowed those bots in at this point (especially without charging an insane amount of money) when they initially refused. I was surprised when 2B wasn't even allowed in since they give that character to pretty much anything and anyone. But I'm really happy to see them here now 😁

Re: The Last of Us Part 2 'Chronological' Update Out Today on PS5, PC, Lets You Play Through the Story in Linear Order

JackiePriest

Personally I don't really know if putting the events in chronological order will work for TLOU2. I really liked seeing everything through Ellie's eyes. Like any person she remembers things from the past when something in the present reminds her of it. It also made things in the story more of a surprise. Especially at the very end, with that last flashback you realize why she was so obsessed.

Re: Square Enix 'Aware' of Clair Obscur's Success, Ponders Turn-Based RPG Revival

JackiePriest

I don't think the decline of FF can be attributed to the lack of turn based combat. There's still room for action heavy games to succeed. I think it's just because Square can't/doesn't want to(?) change or evolve. You can't just copy something else and expect people to keep going along for the ride. The reason Clair Obscur felt new and fresh imo is because it did its own thing. They took the turn based design and made it their own through changes and additions. I always appreciate when studios aren't afraid to take risks, especially when games today can feel quite same-y.

Re: Hands On: MindsEye Is a Boring Mess

JackiePriest

@nessisonett There already is 😐 From what I can see it's mostly just them trying to convince others that it's "not that bad", trying to get others to buy it, or just making excuses for the devs' weird behavior. It hasn't gotten into full-on aggressive weirdo territory yet.

Re: Everyone's Wondering Whether Sony Will Block PS5 Games on Xbox's Rumoured PC Hardware

JackiePriest

"We’re not entirely sure why it would prevent sales on one specific piece of hardware."

I assume it's because Sony is still selling its own hardware. It goes back to the issue Microsoft is currently having right now with the Xbox; If their games are available everywhere then why would anyone need that platform? As long as Sony's trying to sell consoles it wouldn't make sense to allow that imo.

Re: Ubisoft Responds to Latest Assassin's Creed Shadows PS5 Crisis

JackiePriest

@Rich33 That's what I had thought. Since games seem to leak pretty frequently now, I figured at least one of these companies would have already figured out a way to keep people from playing early just in case. But since it's a physical copy I guess those players could theoretically just play it offline to bypass any update.

Re: Would You Pay $100 for GTA 6?

JackiePriest

For a base version of any game, absolutely not. I could understand for a special edition or something like that, but if 100 a pop ever did happen I wonder how many would be priced out and just wouldn't bother anymore.

Re: Video Game Industry 'Doesn't Want a Game Pass', Says Market Analyst

JackiePriest

I'm glad Sony didn't follow that path. With the budgets of games increasing it's too much of a gamble to put all their hopes in these subscriptions especially if they end up failing. Every player is different you know; Some people only buy that one big release every year, and some game all year round. It's nice these services exist for those that want them, but imo they should always be an option and not a complete replacement.
