Ghost of Yotei developer Sucker Punch has avoided questioning around the possibility of a second multiplayer Legends mode for the PS5 sequel.
In a new interview with IGN, creative director Nate Fox is asked whether there's a possibility Ghost of Yotei will receive a multiplayer mode similar to Legends, either at launch or afterwards. Fox responded, saying the studio is "very focused" on finishing the follow-up's single player campaign to "the highest quality possible".
Avoiding any mention of whether a new Legends mode is actually in production or not, Fox's full response reads:

"We were extremely happy with Ghost of Tsushima Legends and allowing players to connect with friends and use their skills fighting with the katana against a variety of enemies. We loved it. Right now we are very focused on completing Ghost of Yotei to the highest quality possible and putting it in players' hands very soon on October 2. That is our absolute focus right now."
Of course, a multiplayer mode to go alongside Ghost of Yotei would be confirmed on Sucker Punch's own terms instead of in response to an interview question, but the lack of clarification leaves fans of the original mode with no definitive answer.
The first Legends mode was a surprise announcement roughly a month after Ghost of Tsushima launched on PS4, and was a free offering that was later made available standalone. It provided a co-op multiplayer experience for up to four players, and offered story missions to complete together, as well as Survival, Raid, and Rivals modes.
For now, Sucker Punch isn't saying whether there'll be another Legends. The single player campaign for Ghost of Yotei is its "absolute focus" for the time being, which launches for PS5 on 2nd October 2025.

It would be a MASSIVE fumble if they don't do a Legends 2, just saying.... I can see this being the first DLC they do.
There's no way there won't be a Yotei version of Legends.
As an avid trophy hunter completionist, I missed the first game on PS4 but was there for the PS5 version, and that initial PS5 debut was everything I could have hoped for. It was exactly what I wanted; the game was fantastic. 100%+Platinum was an absolute joy.
Then they screwed every trophy hunter over with that trash Legends mode.
Low effort, asset flip tacked on wave survival slop for people with low IQ’s who are entertained by repetitive simplicity. Those awful team based objective missions. Oh and that raid was pure garbage and a nightmare to slog through. If they had churned that filth out and never forced trophies for it, all well and good—I wouldn’t have touched it with a ten foot pole. Unfortunately SuckerPunch has shown us they don’t value trophy hunters’ time and dropped everyone’s 100% forcing a slow, tedious crawl back to full completion.
At least now I know to find/borrow/steal a copy of Yotei and play it on an alt account for the enjoyable single player portion of the game while waiting a few years to see if they’ll repeat their mistake with that Legends rubbish.
I think there going to make Legends a standalone game.
And now it begins: we will have some saying they should drop the multiplayer mode and focus on SP and others who will says if it's not out by End of Year it's an L.
Reality: Anything like Legends in 2025 would be made into a Live Service with a Battlepass and Im not sure that's what gamers want.
I thought Legends was fantastic personally. I hope they have more of that to come.
Translation PR -> English:
When the game is successful enough they will definitely think about it but for the moment there is nothing they want to announce.
Good. The focus SHOULD be on single player.
@AdamNovice That would be a bold move, are you suggesting F2P?

I'm glad they are focusing on single player, at least to start with. Then build on the game later on with things like legends.
I gave legends a go in the first game, but it wasn't my thing. The single player game was where i spent many hours and numerous playthroughs.
Legends was fun af. These are the sorts of smaller, more focused multiplayer titles that Sony should be going after.
A Legends 2 doesn't need to be a live service game and probably shouldn't be. It's OKAY to not be the only game gamers ever play. Make something fun and engaging and make some money, not ALL the money.
@Balaam_ You could have just said you didn't enjoy Legends.
But nothing about it was "Low effort" or "slop".
Get a grip, there's far more to games than trophies. A broken record.
I'm okay if they didn't make Legends 2 since Legends 1 still exist.
Legends 2 will be a live service spin-off that spends years in development before being cancelled after bungie review the gameplay and decide it doesn’t work as a live service title. The player-base will rightly question why it wasn’t just added to the sequel for free as with with the original rather than trying to cash-cow it as a standalone title 😔
Makes sense to leave it the way it is if people are still playing Tsushima's multiplayer.
I hope they bring back co-op missions
Not every game needs multiplayer
Legends will be there but definitely not at launch they spent 4 years on this game while reusing assets which cuts down dwv time so I can see this being all in on single player 1st than multiplayer within a year
@Oram77 Not necessarily but it wouldn't surprise me. After all Sony were planning to do MP spinoffs like TLOU and the much rumoured Horizon MP game. Plus they did eventually sell Legends separately.
I actually never tried legends so i don't really care plus im sure they will add post launch
