Re: The Division 2’s First Raid Launches Tomorrow, Will Not Have Matchmaking

Its_badW0lf

@LowTech I totally get that mate, but in the age where you can get your groceries by just going online, there are ridiculous amounts of communities or LFG websites that require very little to find groups or clans for anything. Most subreddits have their own subdivision focused on LFG specifically.

People complain about these complex activities not having matchmaking but they have to understand that these activities are not mean for any old random group to clear with people that have never stepped foot into it, people that are not even close to being prepared for it, people that have no means of effective communication, people that don't know the mechanics at all.

Raids are supposed to be on a different level, they're supposed to be heavily mechanical, rely on effective teams that work like clockwork to easily get by. It is 100% fair of the developers to expect investment from the players where a raid is concerned, and it is in everyone's best interest at that level of difficulty to demand a group that is able to organise themselves before even attempting it, think of it as step 1 in the whole raid attempt.

Re: The Division 2’s First Raid Launches Tomorrow, Will Not Have Matchmaking

Its_badW0lf

Matchmaking for activities such as these - that require communication and team work above all - is ALWAYS a bad move. Hell, there are things in Destiny that offer matchmaking and it is an absolute pain in the ass to do them with randoms who are not on mic or are particularly uncooperative.

Why people would voluntarily sign up for hours of pain and frustration over any given number of people not being able to do their jobs properly and not bothering to learn, before inevitably having to give up on the whole thing and probably the idea of ever doing it due to such a bad initial experience is beyond me.

There's 99% of a game to be played with all the matchmaking you want, but if you can't be bothered to get a team together for content that needs a team to be on point to complete it is just not for you. Just because you own a football doesn't mean you get to play at the world cup, get over it.

Re: Latest ANTHEM Patch Removes Cosmetic Rewards That Were Added After Launch

Its_badW0lf

@nathanSF I'd say what makes the game bad it's not that people just decided they don't like it, the game itself is bad.

From the standpoint of a live service game it is an absolute failure, it has barely any content, is unable to deliver on its own roadmap, once you're done with the story the endgame is basically repeating one or two strongholds or missions ad infinitum for loot that will just make the same missions faster.

Not to mention bugs and poor design choices and not having the underlying structure to turn this game around into what it should have been.

You're allowed to like what you like, heck I still maintain that Destiny 1 vanilla was pretty much perfect as was and most people hated it, but I have no illusions on the issues it had, but it is one thing to like a bad game and another completely different thing to insist the game is great as is when it's blindingly obvious that is not the case.

People payed good money for the promises this game made, and objectively they have been screwed over at every single turn, to pretend all of that is fine is to say that shipping unfinished games with no actual plan to deliver on the features and expectations is a good business model - if you went to a restaurant and asked for a burger and some chips and they delivered a hot dog and delayed the chips indefinitely, you would have an issue with it, I don't see how one product should be treated any differently to the other.

Re: ANTHEM Player Survey Reveals Some Troubling Statistics

Its_badW0lf

@Gumbopudding I played the game for a total of 10 hours between alphas and betas and pot patch release on a friend's copy after I decided to cancel the pre-order when the dumpster fire became apparent, I still go to the anthem forums from time to time, it is so profoundly sad to see them going through the different stages of grief that it makes it gold comedic standard.

Re: ANTHEM Player Survey Reveals Some Troubling Statistics

Its_badW0lf

@redd214 Destiny 1 had everything it needed in the game assets, and the core gameplay loop even at launch wasn't even comparable to the content wasteland that is Anthem, you have 3/4 things to do and you repeat those 3/4 things until your eyes bleed.

Destiny 2 at launch is probably a better example perhaps, but on a complete opposite scale - the loot was plenty but it was absolutely meaningless, once you had it once you're done, armor drops even worse, they had no intrinsic difference other than their type, and the only type people cared for was Recovery, which you can have from a mid game tier vendor and you're set - just infuse everything else you get into it until you reach max level.

Even with this comparison, Anthem simply does not have it under the hood. The game is barren from the get go, the enemies are boring, the loot scales making the grind pointless, there's not enough endgame content and the little that there is is not rewarding at all, it is missing the necessary structure to build around in order to get to some sort of good state.

Anthem was dead on arrival, and it was clear to see since the alphas and betas, if it wasn't obvious by the time it actually released fully then I don't know what else to say to people...

Re: UK Sales Charts: ANTHEM Is Number One Despite Underwhelming Start

Its_badW0lf

The plight continues, game developers become businesses with no soul, exist to make money instead of games, let the actual TALENT go and then are surprised the game is a mess with no personality or future.
Bioware doesn't make another ME or satisfying DA, because they can't. The people that made those games what they are are gone now.

Re: Soapbox: Can We Please Kill Cursors in Console Games?

Its_badW0lf

The issue is not the cursors, the issue is UIs being absolute garbage - like Anthem's.

Destiny has a clean and easy to navigate UI, the cursor works just fine for example, its when you put a metric tonne of clickables in weird and wonderful places that you make it all extremelly awkward.

Re: EA Thinks ANTHEM Will Sell 6 Million Copies in Six Weeks

Its_badW0lf

The only thing I got from the demos was - cancel the pre-order, wait 6/9 months, pay 20 quid and play the game when it's fully developed - MAYBE.

There's not a lot to do there once the campaign is over, and seeing how BioWare's storytelling has bee lacking since the olden days I'd be surprised if that is motive enough to even play the game..

3 Strongholds is ridiculous, one contract a day is ridiculous. If you were looking at this game to be your new hobby, look elsewhere. In comparison the train wreck that was D2 at launch had effectively more content than this and it was still a very bad game for it.

You work on this for 5 years and that is the endgame you come up with.

Re: You've Got to See This First-Person Shooter in Dreams

Its_badW0lf

This looks amazing!

Wonder how the market will react to a game that can contain any number of games within it for the original price...I'm sure they'll have to monetize it somehow, it does all seem too good to be true. Nonetheless, this is absolutely amazing work and the tool itself shows great promise.

Re: Hands On: ANTHEM Shows Promise in VIP Demo, But the Finished Game Needs to Be So Much Better

Its_badW0lf

There were 3 Strongholds?! xD

I barely was able to participate in the only one I could see, but I didn't see any other strongholds.

It was a bit of a mess, made me cancel my preorder, will hold on until the reviews and gameplay start coming in, definitely not a day one, I'll probably wait a two months before I make a decision but it is looking like a resounding no for me.

Re: Far Cry: New Dawn Pushes 'Light RPG Approach' with Weapon Ranks and Base Resources

Its_badW0lf

@ApostateMage mixed feelings about it to be fair, I do miss the action oriented assassin playstyle of earlier games.

As an RPG I think AC Origins and Odyssey suffers a little from chronic light touch, still feels too much like a Ubisoft kind of game when you put it side by side to each other, especially when there's games out there that put so much more work into the huge world they build. Went in very strong and it got a hold on me and then after 10 hours it became quite generic, I just wanted the story to be over so I can learn what happened exactly.

From where I stand, seems like the RPG push by Ubisoft looks quite a lot like a move to pad out the games and push microtransactions to help with the "grind", for it to be more than that they really need to invest on special moments across the board that keep the game interesting to play.

If I felt about exploring the world of AC:Odyssey as I did about exploring the world of RDR2 and New York in Spider-man, it would have been up there with my 2018 favorites.

Re: Ubisoft Faces Fan Backlash as Assassin's Creed Odyssey DLC Totally Ignores Player Choice

Its_badW0lf

@sabaki08 that is in summary the difference between a game that is perfected over 7+ years and a company throwing spewing a product out every year.

I liked the game, but I did get the fatigue that people mention after a while. And that's a shame, the world was beautiful and some of the characters were really interesting, but it felt quite generic at points, the moments themselves outside of the main campaign and the journeys from A to B got really boring after a while, most of the map didn't have much of a reason to keep you exploring it other than 100% the collections.

Re: Bungie Splits from Activision, Takes the Rights to Destiny

Its_badW0lf

@get2sammyb If anything they will need that more than ever.

Microtransactions/Eververse is not going anywhere folks, but the structure of the game, the release schedule and the audience may, quite dramatically at that.

So please be aware that this doesn't mean that microtransactions are going anywhere, it is quite common to have them in games as services because they keep the boat afloat.

And make no mistake, this has not been a one sided decision by any means, Activision probably wanted to get rid of Destiny as much as Bungie wanted back control. It is no secret that the relationship had been a tense one from the get go, D1 never quite performed to the desired standards which got Activision much more involved in the final D2 product, in order to deliver the kind of money Activision was expecting off of it, Bungie needed to bring more people into the game, which was why D2 was a rather casual experience for the whole of year 1. But those people moved on, and that explains why Activision were so harsh on Forsaken during the Q2 call, in comparison to the influx of launch, it must have looked quite pityful when only the core players that remained from D1 plus some newly made fans from D2 launch that stayed and the new comers to Forsaken off the back of the freebies actually invested again in the game.

But look at reddit and you'll think a revolution has happened and now Destiny will be what everyone ever wanted, with only the good bits and none of the bad bits. Not quite, but if anything, I will take solace in the fact that Bungie can't hide behind anyone else for decisions made. Everything from this point onwards will be on them, and that's reassuring to a certain extent.

Re: Poll: Are You Enjoying Red Dead Online So Far?

Its_badW0lf

@kyleforrester87 Nope, got involved in a few shootouts, totally missed the point of bow and arrow playlist, haven't got money for anything, and havent progressed much in the MP story hahaha
The wholesome RDO experience I call it. Goin back to platting the SP part I think.

Re: Poll: Are You Still Playing Destiny 2 One Month Later?

Its_badW0lf

@get2sammyb If anything I need to disagree with you when you say that Bungie failed to cater for new players.

I was a hardcore D1 player, and still am for D2, but hardcore has got very little meaning now. The endgame is shallow and it is pretty much directed to more casual players, the removal of 70% of the RNG is doing nothing for me personally so there's only the one point left which is collecting, and even with that I'm almost done.

For a game that always wanted the player to play it's own way, in terms of that solely the sequel has failed, finding myself to HAVE to wear certain armor to get the best stats, making you have the same strategy each time you do a nightfall because the timer is always a constant, locking your loadout outside of PvP. I hope much of this is erased from the game especially the fixed perks on armor, not too bothered about fixed perks on guns, they need to have something to get into the MLG stage.

Re: Poll: 1 Year Later, What Are Your Thoughts on No Man's Sky?

Its_badW0lf

@Rudy_Manchego I honestly believe the next "update" will be DLC style and price, which is totally fine by me.

I would not mind paying for them to continue working on the game, they virtually tripled on the base game itself over this last year and there's a lot more possibilities in such a set up, so I will always be there as long as they want to continue working on this game.

Re: PS4 Firmware 5.0 Features Leaked Ahead of Beta Testing

Its_badW0lf

After the increase on PS+ costs, I really hoped they'd come out with a good enough reason to justify that, but is seems like they're only bleeding you because they can. At the current asking price, none of the wild guesses of changing username, Now included with +, and a few other big hitters that keep on being mentioned since launch seem like asking too much. Ridiculous.

Re: No Man's Sky Patch 1.3 Discovers New Story Content and Fast Travel Portals

Its_badW0lf

@kyleforrester87 Calling me out on the internet, daaaaaamn!

I was playing it on and off while watching some show so I totally left it on at one point hahaha, I don't seem to be able to get into it, but if you're on today I'll join you after dinner? I'm very low level though. but I found a pretty good starting out guide on reddit, hopefully things will make a little bit more sense!

Re: No Man's Sky Patch 1.3 Discovers New Story Content and Fast Travel Portals

Its_badW0lf

It's worth mentioning that this was part of the email for the end of the Waking Titan ARG, not in any way patch notes denoting all changes.

That said, don't expect too much, just think of what happened at launch and take a moment to realize how amazing it is that this tiny team is still working on it and is trying to make their vision work.

I'll be hitting this after 1.3 not too much because of Destiny 2 and holidays in between but I'm looking forward to see how it changed from last year - bought the limited edition, played it for a week or so and was disheartened by the bad reactions to it let it affect my own enjoyment of it, promised myself I'd wait a year to see if they tried to make it work at least.

Re: Destiny 2 Is Going to Be a Huge Hit, but You Knew That Already

Its_badW0lf

Next up: rain is wet!

I still keep seeing new players on the tower from time to time, so really it shouldn't be a surprise that pre orders for the second game are ahead of the first game, PS4 and xBone back then were still quite expensive, the game drought was real and many players didn't transition until later, so players on the fence to buy a new system would not have bought the game for the legacy systems when they could wait and then get it for the latest console.

And this is coming from someone that was active throughout the game history from launch till recently, the amount of times I picked people up from LFG sites that were doing raids for the first time, was actually a constant factor, just two weeks ago I took a clan member through Crota for the first time for example and I know for a fact that everyone in there has pre-ordered.

Re: Destiny 2's Beta Pre-Load Goes Live Today on PS4

Its_badW0lf

@mrobinson91 Mate!! Definitely, get back on it. If you need a clan come D2 let me know, I'm in a pretty good one for a year now, very active, clan activities and challenges all the time, focus on both PvP and PvE, there's a bit for everyone, and we'll be going on strong to D2, same applies to any and all Destiny looking for an active group to play with.

You have been warned about your language in the past, this is your last one. -Tasuki-

Re: The Destiny 2 Beta Weighs in at Around 13GB on PS4

Its_badW0lf

@JohnnyBastos My clan will be transferring to D2, I'm guessing most of them will automatically, it would be really stupid of Bungie to not automate the process, but then again they can go with something like "tower records have been destroyed so you'll have to find your mates again" or some stuff.

But there will be guided games available all around, I'm hoping they provide clans good rewards for completing guided games so it becomes a real thing, cuz if they're only hoping for people to help out for no reason, then it's not gonna work, not for the really committed clans anyway.

Re: Destiny 2's Beta Pre-Load Goes Live Today on PS4

Its_badW0lf

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi @ShogunRok @kyleforrester87 For sure! Hit me up there and we can plan something when it's live.

@CFDennett It IS indeed Destiny, but that is endgame content in every game, the difference between endgame and this is that we will be overpowered from the get go, there is no challenge to be had from it. If only they added patrol, that was the best thing about D1 Alpha/Beta in my opinion.
