EA and BioWare have slapped a free trial for Mass Effect: Andromeda on the PlayStation Store. The download offers up 10 whole hours of the divisive sci-fi title, so if you've been on the fence, you might want to give it a shot.
The trial will be available until the 1st November, so you've got a good few months to think about it. What's more, any progress that you make can be carried over into the full game if you decide to buy it at a later date.
Are you yet to play Andromeda? Will you be trying this free trial out? Jet off to a different galaxy in the comments section below.

Nice, will give that a go then.
I've been eyeing this up for weeks. It's available for £24 online in places. This is perfect. Thanks.
Wow this is a very smart decision and not one I expect from EA. Especially since they just got the game all patched up.
Yeah, it's a good idea to get a free trial out. I'm sure there are a lot of people who were totally put off the game by the negative backlash it received at launch. They might give this a shot and think "you know, this isn't actually that bad".
I didn't think the game was that bad. Certainly not as good as last gen Mass Effect but it was better than the internet would have you believe. I spent around 100hrs playing the campaign inc Side Missions and quite a bit was good fun.
Are things really that bad? Never played a ME but it kinda makes me sad to see how the general opinion of it's gone on such a downhill. It's a great offer though as I'll try it and finally play a ME. Hopefully it'll be something mint to come back to.
10 hours is longer than I've been willing to even play it.
And I own the game lol.
I will definitely try this out. Too much to play right now but later in the year I will definitely do it.
Hmm I'm very tempted! But I only spend 20 euros or less on this game so unless there's a sale after...
I probably would have played it anyway at some point regardless of issues. Like I would have Played Assassins Creed Unity but I already know Syndicate is superior and bought that. Anyway, we'll bang, OK?
Im in.. until my face gets sore
I'll definitely try this , some of my favourite games are ones the internet told me where rubbish like Driveclub , Battlefield 4 and Battlefront.
I'll give it a go. Some of my favorite games got some not so great reviews. Mad Max and the surge both got some low scores but they are two of my favorite games right now.
Comparing mass effect 2 to mass effect Andromeda. Is like comparing the Mona Lisa to a maggot infested green turd.
But it's a good deal for those who enjoy maggot infested green turds.
Great move by EA in my opinion. The nagtive backlash the game got was so intense and over the top that offering a large chunk of this game to those who were discouraged by it all is wise choice. I'm still waiting for a larger price drop to get it, not many games that can scratch that specific sc-fi itch.
Who wants to bet this is jumping on the PS Plus bandwagon before the first quarter of 2018?
@themcnoisy I am all about maggot infested green turds. I'm actually a taster by profession
Just kidding, don't have the time to sink into this game unless it is really special.
Nice, will definitely give this a go. I had been waiting for this game for years but was completely put off by the bad reviews.
@AFCC Im pretty sure you can find it second hand for 20 euro (maybe less)
@themcnoisy
But is it so terrbile because of the bugs/glitches, or the story, or the gameplay? Im not that bothered by wonky facial animations tbh and I heard the combat was pretty good. So that leaves the story which was never really that good to start with? I mean, the chainsmoking dude on a chair, the oversexualized hot girl with skin tight latex suit?
@Flurpsel The elephant in the room is that only the first Mass Effect had a good/great story, also setting up great Lovecraftian baddes in form of the Reapers. The sequels were botched in terms of storyline (even everyones favorite ME2 had a weak main arc). Only the characters and side stories saved it, and from the look of it, it seems that part is missing in Andromeda.
@JoeBlogs Sorry man, obviously I use ketchup to add a bit of colour.
@Flurpsel Hard to do it here in Portugal! But I can try to look online...but the sending fees are always a piece of crap xD
This is a really smart move by EA. I guess they patched the game enough to a point they feel confident with it and gave us the trial. I played about 2 hours last night and REALLY enjoyed the game, not nearly as bad as the reviews, but if course this is 4 months after. If my backlog wasnt so crowded i would of bought it today but i guess ill finish afew games and hopefully catch a nice sale
@Flurpsel The games badly made and the story roll out is laughable. I had zero connection to anything happening and the shooting isnt great either. The bugs and glitches are a joke. I suffered a game breaking bug and couldn't progress, the lift at a point didn't move so I was running around for an hour before I checked a walk through. So bad.
@Lurker I thought so too. I enjoyed all of the games, but storywise I only started to enjoy it when I looked at it as a sort of absurd comic book.
@themcnoisy Fair point(s), well made. I'll still download the trial to see if its worth the effort though. Maybe the patches fixed some of those by this time.
My question is: Will the trial let me play the Multiplayer modes? Genuinely some of the most fun I had from last generation was Mass Effect 3's online modes with my buddies.
I'll give it a whirl but I'm too engrossed in Elite Dangerous at the mo. Better character creation in ED too.
Lol no thanks. When Old Bioware comes back, so will I. A trial won't fix the issues I had with the game (which were not animation glitches)
@Azikira You can play multiplayer. I personally only played one match and I'm not certain if it let's you play all the modes, but I don't recall any choices being greyed out. I'm still on the fence about buying the game, but this definitely pushed me closer to pulling the trigger on it.
@Number_6 I ended up just cracking and buying a new copy (at the surprisingly reasonable price of $19.99).
Still haven't bothered opening it. XD
