Re: Going Platinum #9: Marvel's Spider-Man

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

This game was amazing. Spider-Man 2 somehow BADLY dropped the ball. I played once for the platinum so obviously that's me skipping out from the main story and doing side quests and collectibles which can break up the flow (although I didn't have this problem in the first game?) but when I did NG+ and just focused on the story it really wasn't cohesive.

First Spider-Man though? One of the best and riskiest original Marvel stories in video games. They really took the characters and redefined them beautifully.

Re: Sony Is Still Patching Trophies into Retro PS Plus Premium Games

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

@LifeGirl it's not free, it's part of the subscription.

I really don't understand everyone defending the decision to not include them? Surely people believe a multi billion dollar company can support this. The inconsistency is not great, especially when the classics are tagged as PS4/PS5 - which in itself is silly to have both

Re: Sony Is Still Patching Trophies into Retro PS Plus Premium Games

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

See guys that really feels like an excuse so there's one less hurdle for devs to overcome. The entire point is that if you're paying a premium price you should get the full benefits. There are other ways to offset the trophy cost - look at Xbox and their backwards compatibility team (not for achievements obviously but for the effort dedicated).

PlayStation makes a lot of money. They can afford to support this. Instead they've raised the prices of subscriptions and lowered the value received 🤷‍♂️

Re: Amazon's PS5 MMORPG New World: Aeternum Delisted, Will Be Shut Down in 2027

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

There are really only two still running MMOs I'd love to see on console.

World of Warcraft, which has been (honestly rightfully for today's age) dumbed down in every way so would probably work well on console

Star Wars: The Old Republic, which we'll never see, but is actually a fantastic game if you don't mind it being a WoW clone. Really good class stories at least in the base game.

FFXIV is a great MMO but I find it so overwhelming on console to play, can't navigate or even read the menus and there's just too much in it to understand as a newbie

Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro's Big PSSR Update Releasing by March, Improves Graphics and Performance

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

The PS4 Pro was a great price point and had the impact of 4k gaming. I would love higher quality graphics or loading or anything really, would sell my launch PS5 to get this, but it's way too expensive. And to pay extra for a disc drive is disgusting - especially as if you get a digital console Sony is automatically making at least that 30% cut on anything you want to play. You'd think that would subsidize the costs a bit.

Re: Metaphor: ReFantazio 'Guidebook' Version Out Now, and It's a Discount Upgrade If You Already Own the Game

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

Genuinely curious - how many people actually use this kind of digital content, or listen to the soundtracks? I can't see myself ever utilizing either while in-game because if I need a guide I'll use my phone or tablet just because it's easier. Maybe I'm just old 🤷‍♂️

The soundtracks and stuff also - kind of nice for a gimmick I guess if you're able to listen while playing other games like NFS or something but it's so niche

Re: Dragon Ball Z Action RPG Kakarot Tops a Mighty 10 Million Sales

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

@ShogunRok It also got me to watch the abridged Dragon Ball Z Kai or whatever it's called! Except I knew everything that happened because the game was so good at speeding through the major plot beats.

Maybe I should revisit the show, I only watched up to the Buu saga.. which I think is also where the base game ended maybe

Re: Dragon Ball Z Action RPG Kakarot Tops a Mighty 10 Million Sales

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

This game was my introduction to Dragon Ball Z, I never cared for it on TV growing up despite my friends being huge into the show. I just thought it would be a fun an easy platinum and I was shocked at how into the story I was!!!

My one complaint, as a trophy hunter with limited time, is that the DLC didn't have any trophies attached. This is the only game where I wish it had trophies so I could justify the purchase, but rightly or wrongly I use trophies to gauge when to move into the next game so I can keep up with my backlog.

If they retroactively added them though I'd be all over that!

Re: BioWare's Biggest Failure ANTHEM Shuts Down Today

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

Anthem. One of the funnest games I've played 100% online with to the platinum, one of the worst most aimless stories I've played, and one with the most potential. I read Schreier's book (I believe it was in his book!) which covered the development of this game and it's just sad, those talented developers knew exactly how to make a third person online shooter feel great and terrible management and corporate meddling ruined it.

I'm sure it's deeper than that, but I definitely had a lot of fun. All the credit to EA in the current gaming environment (of the past decade) though for keeping the servers around as long as they did but it's a shame.

Re: 'It's Coming to a Turning Point': Persona, Metaphor Director Says Atlus RPGs Must Attract 'A Wider Audience'

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

P5R revived a love for JRPGs that I didn't even know used to exist, and it still stands out as one of the best games I've ever played - it was so addictive that when I went on holiday I bought a Vita just to play P4G so I can get my fix. And then I got every trophy in those and P3R too.

P5R though could have easily saved 30 hours by not having the characters recap the entire story or current objective every few conversations. Was incredibly boring, and I was reading every single line. I think, without changing what they are fundamentally, a good traditional JRPG can be around 50 hours long, maybe do something more than the static talking head that appears every time a character talks, and double down on making the characters and story stand out.

Re: The FIFA Video Game Will Return, on Netflix of All Places

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

A FIFA-branded football management simulator could be really nice on a touchscreen, maybe even bordering on how fantasy football works. Netflix also doesn't have microtransactions which would make it super appealing on mobile.

An ACTUAL football game by an untested(?) developer on mobile sounds horrible

Re: Disappointment as PS2 All-Timer SoulCalibur 3 Launches on PS5, PS4 without Trophies

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

Lots of negative comments. First off, we're subscribing to a service and trophies were "mandated" in the PS3 era for every title - except apparently when it comes to premium titles, the ones from the most expensive tier. As someone who loves trophies, that's the reason for me to go back sometimes (for extended periods of time) - the game is fun but there are a ton of fun games, however trophy goals to have in my profile are a good excuse to clean it up. Otherwise I'll play another game I really want to play.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that if you're subscribing to a top tier of service you'd expect the games on it to have all the bells and whistles regardless of whether it's Sony first party or not.

Re: Free-to-Play FPS Highguard Closes Out The Game Awards, Coming to PS5 on 26th January

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

god i miss E3. Every developer/publisher having their own thing, trailers coming out at a clip over days, journalists meeting the developers in person and testing out the games, giving great previews. The way they do these things now sucks - hour of game trailers and awkwardness.

When everyone decided to skip the in-person events is when a bit of the gaming industry's soul chunked off and died.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Dev Announces New Divinity RPG, Its 'Biggest Game Ever'

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

I really, really wish I could get into this type of game but I think I'm just too dumb. I tried out Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition for the first time on my PS5 last week and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to position and control all of the characters. They each have spells and abilities and I got them, but I spent 20 minutes just grouping up on enemies and everyone bashing them with weapons.

Anyone have any advice? Because I'd LOVE to get into all of this.

Re: Xbox Ruthlessly Cancelled Perfect Dark, But Take-Two Just Hired Its Directors

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

There must have been something truly wrong in development that resulted in the cancellation. Even after all the delays and problems it was a huge announcement that tons of people were excited about, and although MS is obviously cutting costs if this had progressed well after the vertical slice I think would they'd have stuck with it.

Sucks it was cancelled but I'd love to read about what happened one day

Re: Sony Allegedly Encouraging Devs to Use PS5's New Low Power Mode, Prompting Fresh PS6 Handheld Speculation

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

I think I'm the only person in the gaming world who doesn't want a hybrid PS6. Something will be compromised somewhere in the games, and while the Switch is a great system the common criticisms are very valid. I can't see a hardcore gaming audience tolerating them too much.

A dedicated console would be so much nicer - like a modern day Vita/PS3, but whatever

Re: Riot's Free-to-Play Fighter 2XKO Out on PS5 in a Few Weeks

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

Said this before but all of their talk about competitive play completely puts me off as a casual player, and the name of the game alone makes me feel like I'm not the target audience. I can't even guess how to pronounce it.

But that's ok, games probably shouldn't cater to every single demographic of person - in fact they absolutely shouldn't. I hope this is successful because the artwork and designs look amazing!

Re: The Story of Shenmue Is Far from Over, Says ININ

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

I am going to actually say maybe it's not AI? There are subtle differences between what looks like cutscenes and the gameplay where the character models are different (not sure the term) and with my admittedly untrained eye on shaky camera footage I've not noticed any telltale signs of AI, like strange text, backgrounds or image warping.

Fingers crossed

Re: New PS5 Controllers Said to Be Optimised for Better Battery Life

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

@iNightfarer not sure that's relevant at all - I don't want wires coming from my TV to my couch. My kids would trip, my dog would get in the way, my wife would think it looks disgusting. I can leave it plugged into the wall but the sockets are taken up by other things like lamps.

The battery life is atrocious on these controllers because they keep cramming in useless gimmicks that add 0 value and are solely there to drive up the price. How many games utilize haptic feedback, the touchpad as more than a button or map/typing swipe, the stupid lightbar? None of that adds anything to the experience.

Re: Sony's All-In on Exciting PS5 Action RPG The God Slayer, Despite an Xbox Version Existing

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

@SMJ on even footing I disagree. Exclusives encouraged users to buy multiple platforms, created more competition, and allowed developers to fully utilise the specifics of that target system. While it sucks for consumers who don't own the console I think it ultimately helped gaming innovation and also pricing - think of the PS2/Xbox era.

With Xbox doing.. nothing really though there's no point to the exclusive because the developers will never make their money back. And games are just too expensive

Re: Talking Point: Does PS5 Have a Sequel Problem?

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

Games are taking way too long to come out, and I can't think of any new PS5 IPs that have really had a cultural impact.

PS1: Tomb Raider, Twisted Metal, Silent Hill, Spyro, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid

PS2: God of War, Kingdom Hearts, Grand Theft Auto 3 (different enough to count)

PS3: Uncharted, Resistance, Little Big Planet - all of which are essentially dead franchises, and also Sony-owned.

PS4: Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Marvel's Spider-Man

Ps5: ???

Re: Bloodlines 2 Publisher Accepts the Blame Over $37 Million Failure

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

@RawnDawn No, Colossal Order (the devs) split from Paradox and are now essentially an indie studio. They don't own the Cities: Skylines brand, however. Very curious as to what happened behind the scenes but I'm going to assume that since the studio split instead of having executives "resign" it was Paradox that forced them into making disastrous decisions that doomed CS:2.

Could be wrong, but something's up with Paradox the last few years.

Re: Here's Your First Look at Sony's Zelda Movie, Film Shots Revealed

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

I'm kind of excited for this to be honest! Live action is a huge risk and I think a TV show would've been better suited, but I can't see Nintendo letting this be *****.

Very very different scenarios but Detective Pikachu and the Mario movie (newer one obviously) were extremely fun to watch. Detective Pikachu was actually a pretty dark film but they absolutely nailed everything. Mario was a fun goofy film that actually was well paced, had a lot of cool scenes, and the animation was awesome. And those movies are total opposites of each other so it shows whatever hand Nintendo is using to drive the creative stuff works well!

Re: The Next Horizon Game Is an MMO by NCSOFT for PC, Mobile

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

If it's like the current trend of Genshin's millions of currencies, millions of menus, hardcore gacha microtransactions, etc then I'm beyond not interested. I know it's basically nonexistent in new MMOs, but at least when you paid monthly you used to get mini expansions' worth of content every couple months. Elder Scrolls Online and SWTOR are good examples of F2P MMOs with optional purchases, but I don't think this will be like that.
