Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles Sees in the New Year with Major Sales Milestone 1

Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, a remaster of its classic strategy RPG, has reached an impressive sales milestone.

Shared on its social media channels, the publisher says the game has now surpassed one million copies sold:

The Ivalice Chronicles is an enhanced version of the beloved PS1 title, featuring refreshed visuals, full voice acting, and various gameplay updates. It also includes a retro version that replicates the original.

It was widely well received by both critics and players, serving as a reminder of the original game's strengths while revamping it with some modern touches.

Square Enix is notorious for setting high sales expectations, but the original game's director, Yasumi Matsuno, predicted it'd take about three years for the remaster to sell between 800,000 and 1 million copies. Instead, it took the game about three months to hit the milestone.

He's since admitted he underestimated the game's sales potential.

We loved it in our review, calling it "masterful" and praising the "quality-of-life improvements, additions, and upgrades" built onto an already great game.
