@MrPeanutbutterz I think it's a nice kasual list. Better than gatekeeping through difficulty, especially when trophies are tied to half a dozenish challenging titles
This level was frustrating but also great! Not complaining about a change though as some things need to be adjusted for modern day + the original is always available.
Question - how did they add more dialog to the spark? I can't remember but if it's spoken did they recast or AI or get the person back after 25 years?
I really don't think Microsoft has a bad strategy and I personally experienced it myself a few weeks ago. I used to have every console since the PS2 generation but my Xbox One was so unbelievably pointless, ugly, and disappointing that I've stuck with the PS4 for ease.
Fast forward to early October when I learned EE includes Xbox Game Pass Ultimate as a perk. Without an Xbox I just fired up Forza on my Fire stick and went for a drive. Granted Ultimate is £40 or something a month now which is insane but disregarding the pricing it's actually pretty awesome.
Depending on the price point I'm okay with this. I also don't play online much at all with anything so maybe I'm not the best person to ask, but if Halo 1's campaign drops on the PS5 looking gorgeous with minimal bugs I would be extremely happy.
@MFTWrecks Didn't realize it was on Wii but I absolutely loved MadWorld for similar reasons hahaha.
I've never heard of Deathrow but it looks a lot of fun! There are so many games from generations ago that are just gone and will never come back. It's a bit sad and one of the reasons why I still use my PS3 nearly as much as my PS5. I've got The Saboteur to play and ModNation Racers, and I've also gotten a Retroid for some classics - although emulation is never ever the same
Actually this review made the game more appealing for me.
I've only recently started playing these kinds of games - I 100% Skyrim 1.5 years ago and it was my first one. Then I went straight into Fallout 3 and got 100% in that too. At no point did I care about any of the characters, but I did wish the dialog was a bit more punchy as it was riiiiight on the cusp of it for me. And the combat sucked in all of the games. I also never played with companions so indifferent to their personalities.
So I guess if the combat is great, the exploration is in tighter areas, and the game isn't 200 hours long then it's exactly what I want to play.
I loved this game, the music was great, the world was fun, and I enjoyed having the mansion.
But I remember very clearly having an issue where in order to continue I needed to upgrade the mansion and at one point every option was greyed out and unselectable, thus ending my game prematurely. Was so sad!
Scarface, The Getaway and Roadkill (a game I'm sure no one's ever heard of) are my top three in wanting a current gen version, whether it's a remaster or otherwise. Chrono Trigger is a runner-up but that's only because it's on mobile and DS. And the DS holds up VERY well even today.
This won't happen anymore really but it I'll repeat something I said on another post. The live service market is crowded. I miss campaign-focused games with an online component - like the original TLOU, Spec Ops, or especially Transformers: War for Cybertron. Such fun. But on their own it's a bit of a disaster because they don't have enough content to maintain a huge community and would need a dedicated team to maintain.
There is no way FBC was going to cut it in today's world and I feel bad for the developers.. I doubt the CEO stepped down completely voluntarily but the fact that a high ranking effective was held accountable is good and it doesn't seem at this point that there are other innocent bystanders caught in redundancies so that's a positive.
@nomither6 Aggressive comment but I agree 100%. The SIXAXIS was such an idiotic pointless thing, I've never heard of a single person using it. I personally remember the first and only time it was used, when I finally figured out why my plane was flying weirdly in GTA IV. Rumble was a fantastic addition and "haptic feedback" with those fancy triggers in the Dualsense could have been cool except for the fact no one uses it.
Much like the touchpad, which is essentially used as an alternative Start button... I actually like the giant button, but I also remember the last time I used the touchpad itself and that was in Infamous: Second Son. Just cut out the gimmicks and give us a solid, durable controller, but that wouldn't justify the MSRP they want to see.
Oh god damn it did they not see what happened with Remedy's multiplayer game? Double down on what you've been great at, what's given your studio brand recognition. Don't waste your resources on a title that's competing with every other multiplayer game out there.
The nice thing about story focused games is once you're done you can move onto the next thing. There's an entire generation who is into online multiplayer but they will always and forever compete on players' time, who usually only do one or two at a time for ages. Story focused games are great because after they're finished gamers are ready for the next one. It's such a shorter time commitment.
Maybe I'm rambling, maybe I'm old, but as a dad with a full-time job I just have no time in online gaming. This isn't 2007 where I could spend 6 hours in Sunken Temple fighting it out
I remember when Saints Row launched. Filled a HUGE gap on the market when GTA IV was missing and there weren't any games on the 360 that were even remotely similar. And it was silly, goofy, stupid, and had a really fun story and great characters. Saints Row 2 was more of the same.
Saints Row 3 was also pretty good, but 4 really sucked. The superhero powers meant there was no point to the open world and stealing cars which was a huge highlight, and everyone was literally go to your hub, take a mission, go out and do it, return to hub repeat. I know people liked it but as someone who 100% the game it really just was not fun.
I would love to play the reboot, but it's so low on my priority list it's almost depressing
Is this the first time we've seen a game re-released on the same platform with the developers blatantly saying it's for a platinum trophy? Because I love the transparency
@SoulsBourne128 Yeah you gotta hide the game from your profile, go to trophies > hide I think. Nothing is confirmed yet but if it's open source it means they can confirm if trophies are unlocked unfairly or not, and if not then it'll be allowed. Let's see how long it'll take but I think I'm going to grab the game from CeX regardless!
@themightyant I'm not an anime person but I'm dying for a good show with a deep story.. can you sell Avatar to me in a few sentences without spoiling? Sorry bit off topic from this but I just assumed it's for my daughter when she's like 7 lol
@PerpetualBoredom Platted it!! Loved that game, and P4G and P5R (which was my first one). Platted all three! I want more of that, would love Chrono Trigger coming to modern consoles but we'll see. FF7 Rebirth and FFXV are great modern versions of what I loved.
@SoulsBourne128 hopefully someone can confirm for sure but I'd say yes - the IP change shouldn't matter digital or physical. Kind of related, I played and platted War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron on PS3, physical copies to be fair, and it worked extremely well. The private server has been up for years but I was still finding full matches a couple years ago! Was insane and so much fun.
As an FYI private servers are not supported by PSNProfiles generally speaking so you'll have to hide the game from your profile or you'll get a warning. Sadly.
Can't wait to pick this up. Dying for a classic JRPG adventure that won't take me a year to beat. I don't get this vibe from the game but I'd especially love to play a dark stereotypical world ending JRPG story
Serious question: does anyone actually buy strategy guides or soundtracks digitally on consoles to use them? I couldn't think of a scenario where I'd do that over just using my phone and googling.
I couldn't even imagine balancing fighting games. All of the characters, trying to appeal to casual fans who drive up the sales so you can turn a nice profit, also catering to the pros at the same time to keep the game alive as long as possible and also in the public eye.
Totally unrelated but a random unlocked memory, the second fighting game I ever played (I'm counting MK2 and UMK3 as one game...) was Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition which was horribly unbalanced and so much fun. We'll never get games like that anymore...
I've always liked the Digimon anime more than Pokemon, it was more teenager-y with the angst and the drama and the constant looming of the end of the world, the friends having disagreements over how to fix things, and the overall loneliness of being ripped away from your parents and placed in a strange world where everything is trying to kill you.
The games sucked though, I've never liked any of them until Cyber Sleuth - it was pretty good, not my top game but addictive and, well, Digimon. Stopped halfway through and years later picked up Digimon Survive which I did not realize was grid based or a visual novel but the story was so, so good! Loved it. Glad to see the series doing great but I would love to see a bigger budget proper open world RPG in the style of the anime.
@get2sammyb Yes and no, they're also slowly corraling everyone into their ecosystem where there's 0 competition to purchase. Don't you remember when you could at the very least walk into a store and buy a digital game card? They did away with that years ago - now you can only buy PSN credit or a PS+ card, and buy on their digital store that has no competition.
Yes they still have physical games thankfully. But they're taking a different route of anti-consumerism.
Cannot wait. I don't know how similar in quality or not it'll be to Gears, but I'm having an absolute blast with that. If it is at least similar in quality then I cannot wait to jump back into that first game. First FPS I've ever played where the story actually gripped me. And similar to Gears I have a feeling that it's one of the few games that will hold up just as well as my nostalgia is telling me.
@Toot1st That's a shame. Remasters are great. New IPs are great too, but given how insanely long it takes for a lot of developers to create new games I'm happy with the drip feed of remasters to keep things moving along... and who knows? Maybe they'll be granted a budget for Prototype 3
If this was listed at £30 it's day one for me. Dynasty Warriors 3 brings back some very sentimental memories with a friend who's been gone for over 15 years.
Putting that entire bit aside because it is definitely not relevant, Dynasty Warriors 3, 4 and 5 were excellent, but the series really lost the fun connection I had to specific characters once they made nearly all weapons available to everyone.
@themightyant It sounds like this is strictly due to logistics. I can't even imagine how much of a headache it must be for companies trying to navigate the tariff landscape, from the purchasers to the suppliers and every company in between that facilitates this stuff.
Game is going to be awesome - not only does it look great it's obviously led by a team of people who truly appreciate the IP.
My non-gaming girlfriend found this hilarious and she's 100% right. You pay £70 or whatever for the game, then you invest all of the time to get x trophy ("engagement" which has a tangible value for Sony), then you earn the ability to pay $30 for a t-shirt. If they actually cared about their audience it would be a reasonable price, but it feels a bit like exploiting your hardcore fans. Just sell this as normal merch!
Just a painful reminder that PlayStation used to take risks and wasn't afraid of giving us strange games. Some don't do so well but that's the price of innovation.
When the PS4 Pro was announced it actually had a purpose - 4k. I'm not sure what the PS5 Pro is meant to achieve considering it doesn't even feel like the base PS5 has reached anywhere near its potential.
Demos not locked behind a paywall. Posted somewhere how ridiculous it is Sony has demos exclusive to Premium and I got absolutely obliterated in the replies, but I stand by it - demos should be used as an advertisement tool for a game, not a gatekept perk or privilege for those that pay.
Anyway, I'm very excited for this game, and I am so so happy demos are more commonly carrying progress over! I've not downloaded a demo in over 15 years until this year where I've gotten several. Can't wait for Trails.
I liked the trailer for this so much that I went out and bought Sonic All Stars Racing with 0 research or whatever it's called for the PS3 and it is really, really good. If that's how I feel about what I think is the first one, and this one is several iterations later, when it drops within my budget I'm going to have to snag it.
I don't play FPS games much and I've not touched Battlefield or COD in nearly 15 years but I am so happy to see proper competition to Call of Duty. That's what the gaming world needs, and that's also why it's sad Xbox has fallen so far behind.
Competition is vital to the health of the gaming industry. Although I'm not going to play this I will say that I've really been enjoying watching the videos online, it looks so much fun.
Those words aren't that comforting to me. Not every game needs to be huge and ambitious and cost hundreds of millions of dollars. I miss more focused games. The recent Mafia is a great example
Yesssss can't wait!!!! Given how passionate Mortal Kombat fans are I'm wondering if they'll work on their PS2 era emulators and skills to give us a volume 2 with the extremely beloved 3D era. Those games are extremely janky but I would love to get back into Deception's Konquest mode.
But for now, I grew up on Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for SNES. I hope they've kept the Galaga game in it!!
I've never heard of these! But I will say that the Mega Man X series is the one I grew up with and love so, so much. Mega Man X4 specifically was my first experience ever with an anime and the story really broke my 7 year old heart hahaha
Once I platinum the X series I guess I'll start picking up the other series and work through them all
@Michael2008ish I am genuinely wondering at this point if there's a rights issue, or a severely troubled remake they're working on. It's officially available on modern phones, why not consoles?!
@UltimateOtaku91 I agree but I also really like them revisiting their older titles. Lots of gems hiding in the vaults.
And I'm just going to say it - please give us some sort of Chrono Trigger re-release! Genuinely holds up extremely well all these years later. Even a direct port of the most basic version would be fine.
I wish people on the internet realized this but for some reason gamers online live in a world of extreme hyperbole and can't accept opinions other than their own.
@Thumper yes I have a US account but have lived in the UK for years so I'm unfortunately very familiar with the pricing differences. I think you're mixing it up a bit - £35 is over $45 and $30 with tax would be let's say $33, which is like £25. Obviously USD of course
0 regret purchase for me. Loads of fun on PS5. I've only done multiplayer (I'm ***** but don't want to touch campaign until schedules align for coop) and it looks amazing, sounds great, runs smooth as butter and the added details of colour here and there in the environment really add a lot.

Re: Sony's Social Media Tribute to the PS2 Borders on Insulting
give me The Getaway, dammit. That's a first person title.
Or third party, what about True Crime? Def Jam? Cold Fear? Tenchu? Black? Shadow Hearts? Roadkill? Xenosaga?
I understand licensing can be a bitch but come on. For charging £120 a year or whatever the selection is paltry.

Re: 'Intergalactic's the Most Ambitious Game We've Ever Made': Neil Druckmann Teases Naughty Dog's Next PS5 Project
Those words aren't that comforting to me. Not every game needs to be huge and ambitious and cost hundreds of millions of dollars. I miss more focused games. The recent Mafia is a great example
Re: 'Finish Him': Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection Launches 30th October on PS5, PS4
Re: An Unthinkable Amount of Mega Man Is Coming to PS5, PS4 in New Star Force Collection
I've never heard of these! But I will say that the Mega Man X series is the one I grew up with and love so, so much. Mega Man X4 specifically was my first experience ever with an anime and the story really broke my 7 year old heart hahaha
Once I platinum the X series I guess I'll start picking up the other series and work through them all
Re: Tomb Raider's Anime Will Wrap Up with Season 2, Due Out on Netflix in December
There's nothing more dorky than a bunch of people on the internet arguing over the scope of the word "anime" lol.
Re: Square Enix Is Taking All Its Big Guns to TGS This Month
@Michael2008ish I am genuinely wondering at this point if there's a rights issue, or a severely troubled remake they're working on. It's officially available on modern phones, why not consoles?!
Re: Square Enix Is Taking All Its Big Guns to TGS This Month
@UltimateOtaku91 I agree but I also really like them revisiting their older titles. Lots of gems hiding in the vaults.
And I'm just going to say it - please give us some sort of Chrono Trigger re-release! Genuinely holds up extremely well all these years later. Even a direct port of the most basic version would be fine.
Re: MindsEye Flopped So Badly That Its Publisher Is Questioning If It Should Publish Games Ever Again
I wish this game was better. Plenty of room for a game of this scope, they just can't be *****
Re: 'The Vast Majority of Players Don't Post on Reddit' - Helldivers 2 Boss Warns of Online Tunnel Vision
I wish people on the internet realized this but for some reason gamers online live in a world of extreme hyperbole and can't accept opinions other than their own.
Re: 64+ PS5, PS4 Games to Buy in PS Store's Ready Set Play Sale (North America/Europe)
@Thumper yes I have a US account but have lived in the UK for years so I'm unfortunately very familiar with the pricing differences. I think you're mixing it up a bit - £35 is over $45 and $30 with tax would be let's say $33, which is like £25. Obviously USD of course
Re: Gears of War Reckons It's Ended the Console War as Reloaded Tops 1 Million Players
0 regret purchase for me. Loads of fun on PS5. I've only done multiplayer (I'm ***** but don't want to touch campaign until schedules align for coop) and it looks amazing, sounds great, runs smooth as butter and the added details of colour here and there in the environment really add a lot.
