One (unintended?) bit of nostalgia here is that since I've not heard of a single game on this list I will have the pure 90s experience again of going in blind and judging them for myself. They might all be *****, they might be amazing, but for £15 it's 100% worth a go.
And I love supporting classics coming to modern consoles.
Excited for this but curious who the target audience is. Will it be kids? Or more of a Princess Bride/Hook- type adventure where it's aiming for older kids? Would love it if it filled that gap. Little light violence and some scares but nothing too crazy - I feel like a lot of films today don't even try to strike that balance anymore.
I played for the first time (and platted) this game a couple weeks ago, so that's two playthroughs that are fresh in my mind. I was in the middle of doing my No Return trophies when this dropped so I hopped back into chronological mode and I actually really enjoyed it. Yes, there are a couple scenes that are jarring, but it actually helped me understand a couple things better.
Can't remember what those things were because they were small bits but in the moment I really appreciated it, and it made for an enjoyable third playthrough
I only use mine for gaming. It seems a waste of electric to use it for anything else. I guess if I were travelling and bringing my PS5 I'd use the apps it has but I'd much rather bring my Firestick as the UI is friendlier and there are more options.
I'm tired of Sony's existing output. Their games are extremely pretentious feeling, and yes they're really good but I want some different genres. If this is ANOTHER third person open world collectathon I will go insane. I love third person adventure games, but Playstation owns a ton of amazing IPs begging for even AA budgeted revivals (which is why I'm sad Embracer is gone despite their stupidity).
AA would mean we'd get more output, too, because we're basically getting one game every generation from each of their studios.
Love this but also hate the lack of competition for Sony, who instead of making another GT Sport or even MotorStorm will probably be happy with their 30% cut of Forza sales. 0 risk there for them. Probably the same for Sony's shooters too - Gears of War and Halo will help their bottom line. The only thing Xbox doesn't have really is a third party adventure game, thank god Sony has a hundred of them now 🙄
@ATaco they had one in development, it was a live service title which ultimately was cancelled.
I enjoyed the 2013 Twisted Metal, and Twisted Metal Black was the peak (although very much of its era). Wish they'd just give us an AA budget Twisted Metal game, keep it dark, have strong single player content but a few online maps and stuff, would be so happy. Not everything has to be live service or mega huge budget.
@TheFakulty I stated TLOU2 last month and have all trophies except the grounded No Return daily run and this chronological order one, which I'm working on now. Play the game normally, it's not hard to follow at all. I like it significantly more than the first game.
Love the AA games. Focused, solid, couple issues but they don't overshadow the game, and a passionate team of devs. Can't wait to play this after I finish Terminator.
I'm also looking forward to that side scrolling Terminator 2 game that's coming out in I think September. I don't care much about modern side scrollers but that looks something special.
@Nekomichu it's just such a relaxing game. Thanks for the tips! PSN name is the same so feel free to drop me more, I'm so unsure on what to pull for. Planning to go FTP but also just want to focus on the platinum from the very beginning, I'm not so fussed about the other stuff.. just post play casually and focus on the goal
Just started this game, my girlfriend's been laughing at me but it's the perfect chill game. I know nothing of the updates or community but find it extremely difficult to figure out what all the currencies all - especially what to hoard vs spend as I go for the platinum.
I think I'm almost finished Chapter 1 but is the story really that good? I've sort of been skipping it as I thought it was just an excuse to get you to spend money but maybe I shouldn't be?
Very late to this but just played the game for the first time and beat it last night. Thought it was brilliant, bit too gruesome in some scenes for me personally but overall really excellent game. I didn't love the first one to be honest, so maybe I'm not the best person to ask, but loved the ending especially.
@dskatter what a negative comment. The game should've never released in this state, but I hope they are able to fix it. That's a ton of devs staying employed in a terrible industry, hopefully it's the execs learning how to not do this in the future, and of course maybe we can all get a great game.
Too many gamers are just so, so negative. There's a lot of deserved criticism but there are real people at that studio who are trying to do a job and stay employed.
VR is a case where tech is telling audiences what they want instead of listening to what the audiences actually want. Just like 3D TVs, or curved ones, or the Kinect, or smart glasses. None of that is natural demand and none of them actually adds decent value to the existing experiences. The former two things in particular felt like a way to justify raising costs on items to increase profits.
So glad to hear this. I've always preferred the Digimon anime to the Pokemon one because of how dark it was. Bunch of kids ripped from their parents and everything they know are thrust into a world that makes no sense where everything wants to kill them. The dynamics between the kids were great. Even saw the movie (which I think was 3 episodes?) in cinemas and it blew my mind
Anyway. Looking forward to this because I really liked Cyber Sleuth, and if everyone's saying this is a significant improvement then I'm about to be blown away
Still interested in this, just not at the price point. Shouldn't have been released in this condition, that executive should have shut his mouth about the bad press, and they wouldn't be rewarded for fixing a buggy game.. but I just selfishly want more games like this. Just polished. Some of the best games on PS3 are the ones that kept a story focused linear trajectory with minimal fluff, give me more X-Men Origins: Wolverine or Kane & Lynch and less Assassins Creed and Dark Souls
This is perfect for me! I have a Brook Wingman or whatever so I can use my Dualsense Edge (complete with custom profiles) on my PS3 and it's revived my love of gaming.
But it is so unbelievably annoying to re-pair every time I want to switch consoles
I hope any potential DLC gets trophies, because for some silly reason Atari 50's DLC never did. That being said, the 3D games are probably worth an entire sequel. Anyone excited for Shaolin Monks or Deadly Alliance will probably still have to wait years (if it even happens)
I'm glad this British hero is getting a 2am reveal 🤮
But I am looking forward to this. Really curious to see what his face is, every other 3D Bond game I'm pretty sure has had the likeness of the current actor. I also wonder if the Amazon/Broccoli fight had any impact on this, or whether once Amazon bought the creative rights if they demanded any changes
@Skyliner no they're not and that's one reason why the game was so successful early on. But you have to have a great underlying system, and the team just couldn't nail down proper upgrades - instead they took the game down for a year killing all the momentum and then relaunched it at a ***** state.
I don't mind a smorgasbord of IPs in a game as long as the game is fun. But that's just it - it HAS to be fun
My best friend has this on PC and we'd play it nonstop whenever I was over. He was killed by a drunk driver a couple weeks after we graduated high school at 18 and things have just never been the same. He wouldn't care to be honest but might get this just to honour his memory.
@themightyant no, I understand that, what I mean is that demos should be free on principle. They are a marketing tool to encourage people to buy your product. Us, as consumers, should not have that hidden behind a paywall.. it's an anti consumer move to do that. Well, at least in my opinion, but apparently it's not a popular one
@mariomaster96 it is, but if he didn't sign an NDA he's in the clear, and it's probably not such a high profile game that it'll cause concern for his future employers
I still think it's insane that they pitch demos as a premium perk. I said this months ago on another site and I was absolutely destroyed by everyone - and I still don't get it.. demos are meant to interest you into making a full purchase. It shouldn't be a paid for luxury..
Unbelievably dull selection for me. None are my type of game sadly
Glad others are finding enjoyment though! There certainly have been months I was excited about that got universal hatred from the masses so it's only fair in the world that it's now balanced out
@SeanOhOgain you don't, but there's an entire generation of people who never played any of them. I played the remaster of 1 a few years ago my first time experiencing the game, and it did not age that well.
Chasing the games as a service trend for the almighty profit at the expense of consumers. One may be a winner but it's going to disappoint the silent majority that want more Twisted Metal, Ape Escape, Legend of Dragoon, MotorStorm, Resistance, Killzone, Sly Cooper, The Getaway, Bloodborne, Wild Arms, Gravity Rush, Little Big Planet, Syphon Filter, Warhawk,
@PuppetMaster calm down buddy it's not that serious lol
I get it was successful but no one has free reign, there have to be boundaries set otherwise it becomes untenable. But you're free to have your opinion, just don't try to emulate him at work lol
I had PS Now and went into Premium for a while but cancelled several months ago, now I get by with Extra and just focus on my backlog.
Premium was such a massive disappointment. Where's my Getaway? RoadKill? Scarface? Uncharted: Golden Abyss? Why am I getting a PSP version of Toy Story????
I find it so weird that people seem to love Kojima. I respect and actually admire the fact that he is one of the few people to be able to make games the way he wants to, and they are truly unique experiences, but he is just so unbelievably pretentious as a person it's irritating.
And this is probably controversial, but (with 0 insider knowledge) I am pretty sure Konami, for all its faults, were right to fire him. Creativity is great, but in the business world you have to adhere to the limitations bestowed on you and your projects. That being said though I think he's significantly better off for it so win/win
