Re: Rumour: PlayStation Is Working on Reviving Some of Its 'Deep Cut' Franchises

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

PlayStation's become so ridiculously greedy. Huge collection of excellent well regarded original IPs and they seem to solely focus on live service games and sequels to PS4-era ones that are all the exact same formula.

They should have set up a talented AA studio when thinking of their subscription service and have them pound out some remasters/AA remakes or sequels of the dormant IPs. Nothing that's expected to sell millions but are instead a bit different from the AAA flagships, maybe experimental a bit with features and styles, etc. Not only would they pad out that subscription service to justify the insane price increase but would also potentially have an unexpected hit they can build on.

Hate how every publisher seems to be intent on spending 4+ years developing a game that may or may not be a hit.

Re: Outriders Dev People Can Fly Cancels Multiple Projects, Laying Off 120 Staff

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

I really like People Can Fly's games. They're never the greatest of all time but I've always found them to be something many other games are not - mindlessly fun, bit goofy, always enjoyable on some level. I really wish they would be finding more success but unfortunately I guess they're stuck in the Gears of War era and have never evolved.

And I guess that's why I like them. I miss the Gears of War era

Re: You Can Get Excited for The Game Awards, Says Reputable Journalist

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

For me, the issue is that it's very obviously a show purely about marketing. Trailer after trailer after trailer, boring rehearsed speeches and pre-recorded interviews, you forget 90% of what's been shown with minutes.

The thing about E3 was that you got a steady drip of info across every platform in every type of genre over several days. And you got journalists who were able to go hands on with the games and not only provide written previews but also be able to provide context from their interviews and informal chats with the developers themselves to add a lot of flavour to the articles. Now every single article is a three sentence rehash of a trailer, because that's all they're given

Re: PlayStation Joins Social Media Shift as Bluesky Rockets in Popularity

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

Gonna be honest, I kind of like Threads. Clean looking, bit confusing to navigate (might be a bug in at least one area?) but I enjoy the simplicity. Twitter was always a bit oblivious looking for me going back ten years and even though I don't care that Musk owns it, I do care that my feed somehow has become filled with the most controversial and misogynistic/racist posts ever. Which mates no sense because I don't tweet and only follow video game developers and actors/writers I like

Re: In the UK, You Can't Buy a PS5 Pro Disc Drive without Paying a Premium

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

@Medic_alert so you're saying to go to a third party website to buy a discount? I obviously chose a few games instead of doing a long list, but yes you can wait for a sale and hope the prices drop low or you can buy physical significantly cheaper any time, resell if you'd like to recoup cost, and most importantly - you actually own it.

But if you want to defend Sony trying to have a monopoly over their games go ahead 🤷‍♂️

Re: In the UK, You Can't Buy a PS5 Pro Disc Drive without Paying a Premium

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

This one's on Sony. They want their consumers to be 100% locked into their storefront, where they obviously set the prices and control discounts.

Pricing comparison of digital vs eBay physical:
Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut: £70 vs £32.99

HZD Complete: £45 for remaster as original was delisted vs £9.79 for PS4 + £10 upgrade if you wanted to

Spider-Man 2: £69.99 vs £30

Re: PS5 Pro was a '5-Year Project', In Development Before PS5's Launch

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

@trev666 dunno man, they literally said only 20% bought PS4 Pro.. and that could output 4k and came a few years after everyone started upgrading their TVs from 1080p, so nice market.

The PS5 Pro is appealing, but between the high cost, unnecessary enhancements (still enjoyed obviously), and the disc drive not being included...... It'll sell fine, I just can't see it blowing up until the price drops significantly

Re: PS5 Fans Believe Halo Could Make Its PlayStation Debut

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

I still remember being absolutely blown away when Halo was in GameStop. I can't remember if it was a demo or the full game (thinking demo?) but the part available was The Cartographer, when you're dropped in and just charge forward. Absolutely stunning visually and it was tight gameplay wise. When I eventually got an Xbox I realised how great the story was too.

I wish the console wars were raging still because competition breeds innovation, but I'm all for Halo on my PS5.

Re: Mini Review: Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns (PS5) – DLC Add-On Is Mostly Unfunny and Overpriced

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

I live NetherRealm reiterating on its core characters over and over again, even if I dislike some of it it keeps everything fresh and new. That being said.. WB needs to get to some realistic pricing for MK's content. £20 this is a must buy, £30 I'd buy it with justification it includes all the new characters, £40 is insanity.

WB could create insane amounts of goodwill by backing off the pricing a bit but for some reason they're so obsessed with short term profits that they don't seem to care anymore about alienating a ton of players. MK has been around since the beginning of the 90s - keep the pricing reasonable and there's no reason it can't continue another 30 years.

I fear the day Ed Boon has enough and retires and some corporate bozo comes in and destroys it all

Re: Suicide Squad the Villain Behind Warner Bros Gaming Revenue Drop

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

I've platted Suicide Squad and honestly the story was decent. If they fleshed it out, had more epic boss battles, and replaced the the absolutely ridiculous live service ending (seriously, wtf? I've never seen that before in any video game, including MMOs) then it would have been an amazing story driven game. Honestly, the combat and traversal, great graphics, and story ideas were excellent but absolutely ruined by greed

Re: PS5 Fans Beg Sony for a More Fulfilling Livestream in the Aftermath of Xbox Show

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

Too much gamer rage here. The Xbox showcase was phenomenal, great mixture of AA and AAA games, lots of different genres, big and small and new names, everything on Game Pass which is a great sell. My only complaint is the lack of dates, but don't rush development and let them cook. Look at Perfect Dark - thought the development was failing miserably then suddenly I see the trailer and am a fan. Didn't even like the N64 game.

Re: Sony Aggrieves Anime Fans by Erasing Digital Funimation Content in Crunchyroll Merger

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

These companies are really trying to encourage piracy again, and it has the government support this time considering the acquisition wasn't blocked. Is there viable mainstream competition to Sony's anime holdings now? Netflix is releasing some great content and also has a few classic big hitters but it's nothing compared to this.

Now that I typed that, I almost wish Netflix had bought Funimation.

Re: Rumour: PC, PS5 Versions of Media Molecule's Dreams Were Allegedly Real, Cancelled

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

Instead of GaaS generic shooters Playstation should have had some dedicated time to Dreams. Creative games can be huge (Roblox, etc), it just needs to be invested in. This game launched and was rarely spoken about again. PSVR2 support, a PC port, and maybe a "special" spot somewhere in the game store would have done wonders.

Should have just used the TLOU Factions money they pissed away to support MM

Re: Create Realistically-Furred Characters in Dragon's Dogma 2's Complex Creator

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

I'm very curious whether this is DD2, an enhanced remake of DD, or something in between. I'm pretty sure it's the latter because everything announced and shown is either extremely gorgeous modern updates of the original DD or features the developers have said they wish they'd time/tech to do back in the day.

It doesn't matter though because it looks amazing. The first game was great despite obvious flaws and with the original team back on it with the gorgeous RE engine I cannot wait

Re: UK's GAME Stores to Stop Accepting Trade-Ins from Next Month

ItsAlwaysSunnyyy

eBay and CeX it is. It's funny how executives will say a company is losing money, then strip it of everything left that made up the brand, then say it's still not making money and shut it down. Still bitter they closed the Stratford Game in Westfield..

Honestly, if their used game prices were rated against the average eBay price + 10% the company would be so much more appealing, but Game and GameStop seem to think selling newly released used games for £3 cheaper than new is a great deal
