So I've obviously heard people praising this game and there was a lot of excitement about it going multiplatform but until I read this article I absolutely thought this was a racing game.
These companies are really trying to encourage piracy again, and it has the government support this time considering the acquisition wasn't blocked. Is there viable mainstream competition to Sony's anime holdings now? Netflix is releasing some great content and also has a few classic big hitters but it's nothing compared to this.
Now that I typed that, I almost wish Netflix had bought Funimation.
Instead of GaaS generic shooters Playstation should have had some dedicated time to Dreams. Creative games can be huge (Roblox, etc), it just needs to be invested in. This game launched and was rarely spoken about again. PSVR2 support, a PC port, and maybe a "special" spot somewhere in the game store would have done wonders.
Should have just used the TLOU Factions money they pissed away to support MM
Imagine paying for early access and having the game not be playable for a chunk of it. It's definitely the publisher's fault for monetising that *****, but at this point it's also the gamers fault for paying the money when you know better.
I'm very curious whether this is DD2, an enhanced remake of DD, or something in between. I'm pretty sure it's the latter because everything announced and shown is either extremely gorgeous modern updates of the original DD or features the developers have said they wish they'd time/tech to do back in the day.
It doesn't matter though because it looks amazing. The first game was great despite obvious flaws and with the original team back on it with the gorgeous RE engine I cannot wait
eBay and CeX it is. It's funny how executives will say a company is losing money, then strip it of everything left that made up the brand, then say it's still not making money and shut it down. Still bitter they closed the Stratford Game in Westfield..
Honestly, if their used game prices were rated against the average eBay price + 10% the company would be so much more appealing, but Game and GameStop seem to think selling newly released used games for £3 cheaper than new is a great deal
I'll say this on every blog every time there is an article like this. Police really need to take this stuff seriously. Swatting, harassment, stalking, death threats - does anyone remember the man who died when police murdered him after being given a wrong address during a swatting attempt? I get it would be impossible to track every single person down, but at least be public about how serious it's being taken.
@nomither6 there are a ton of competitors and clones, big named ones too. DBD is the best one though... Not sure why it gets so much hate - it's fun, looks pretty good, great for playing with friends, and constantly updated. If people want perfectly balanced games and no issues whatsoever then they need to reset their expectations
Sony needs a PSVR2 big budget Half Life: Alyx-type release, not a Horizon climbing simulator. I'd love to buy the system but given the price they should be making it unbelievably tempting. Instead it seems like they pumped it out solely for people who enjoy wasting money on novelties
Really would like to see more Jaguar and some Jaguar CD titles make a showing (Blue Lightning???). I'm the only person I've ever met who had a Jaguar, let alone one with the CD expansion, and I loved it. Was my console between SNES and the N64, which I got much later.
I am loving all of these retro collections. Jurassic Park, Atari 50, the Mega Man collections (for like three generations now), the Ninja Turtles one.. Not just good for nostalgia but also for preservations sake.
I was actually changing my mind on buying this - we're having a baby, only have one TV, my girlfriend loves to watch stuff I don't enjoy, literally fulfill every niche reason to justify dropping £200 (a ridiculous sum).
Deal-breaker is the lack of Bluetooth. Zero reason they couldn't allow me to use my existing earbuds beyond idiotic greed. I hope this fails and a second revision with Bluetooth comes out.
I really like how the three major fighting game developers seem to all respect each other, and same for the fanbases (I think?). I'm a Mortal Kombat guy but recently platted Tekken 7 or whatever the easy one is.. couldn't believe the last boss was Akuma! Just really cool.
I'm excited for the story mode but I honestly hope there is a proper Konquest mode implemented. The last trilogy showed them go from a basic Krypt to a full movement puzzle adventure mode (albeit basic). Invasions were not enjoyable in MKX if it resembles that... Idk
It's better than I thought. Mindless, extremely cheesy, self aware, and the actors have charisma. Anthony Mackie also looks like he's having the time of his life which adds a ton of charge
Man I wish they'd do a proper remaster of Twisted Metal: Black with a platinum. I get that Sony is trying to appeal more to trophy hunters now than in the past, but TM:B is one of the best PS2 games of all time.. with no platinum
I don't understand how PlayStation thinks demos should be available if you pay for a subscription. Why has there been no major journalist/gaming community outcry over this?
Anyway, I wish I could play these types of games on console but I did The Sims 4 and the controls were awful. Planet Coaster too. Are any of these games pleasant to use a controller with??
I'm thinking they're going to do away with the Krypt and bring in a Konquest mode. Ed Boon teases a lot and doesn't deliver which is kind of nice, keeps the mystique etc, but between MK9 and MK11 you can tell they basically are building significantly each time.
@nessisonett honestly though, the expensive ***** is cosmetics. Every new character that comes out is definitely worth the price, you can tell the live and care that went into them. The other stuff.. pretty obvious it's the parent company overlords
@JayCee-007 I am very late because I didn't realize you had commented, but I've thought about it more and changed my mind, I'm looking forward to the game. Bungie has consistently designed the best feeling FPS controls I've played, and although the trailer is CGI it's obviously representative of the tone, which I'm completely into
The gameplay is okay on the Spider-Man games, the combat really doesn't inspire me despite feeling very fluid, but I'm super excited for the story. MM wasn't great but it was a shorter and smaller can't, but I was actually surprised and impressed at how dark the first one was. Marvel obviously is removing some of the MCU barriers and allowing them to take some creative risks.
Never played the original but downed a couple collosi in this remake on PS4. One of the most beautiful atmospheric games I've ever played.. didn't know about this issue but I'm happy for the patch because I was thinking about picking it up again on PS5! Wish Sony would fund more games like this. Truly art.
As a Mortal Kombat fan since the early 90s, please be true! I love how Netherealm isn't afraid to experiment with the games then keep what works and change what doesn't iteration to iteration. I also hope Boon's teasing of a new Konquest mode is true - the Krypt seemed to be heading in that direction anyway
I hate that developers seem to equate throwing dozens or hundreds of millions of dollars at development with higher chance of success. Maybe it's true and I'm old and dumb, but the PS3 era had really good budget titles. I'm glad THQ Nordic are around - they must be successful considering how many old IPs they're reviving on an obvious budget that are faithfully done, fun, and affordable
@J2theEzzo it's been confirmed in another article that they do not. I recently finished the original FFVII on PS4 and the modifiers there didn't block the trophies either.
Never played the originals but have been itching for some 2D JRPGs. With the FF pixel remasters around the corner and a potential launch date announcement on this I'm going to be in heaven for the rest of the year
@Chaotic_Goat Sony made it very clear and it was widely reported that they do not want to add first party games at launch because it would "de-value" the games, so that's kind of on you for not researching.
That being said - I subscribed for the "retro" games and besides an odd few all they're doing is charging more money for the same games that were on PS Now, with a few decent extras that can be purchased separately. So maybe joke's on me
@NEStalgia what do you mean? It feels very much like another studio's take on Smash Bros.. battle passes are annoying but commonplace unfortunately, just like premium and.. extra premium currencies to unlock skins and characters. Normal for a free to play. What part is mobile that's different from other games with currency and unlockables? League of Legends?
@NEStalgia what are you talking about? It actually plays and runs pretty decently. It also looks pretty good for the type of game it is. Do you want Mortal Kombat graphics?
@TaMpA_bLaCk you're still talking about a modern version of a demo and mixing it up with the marketing jargon being used. In fact, it's probably even more affordable to release a demo now as it's essentially the full game with a timer, right? Back in the day they'd have to essentially make a mini game for people to try since they had no real way to timelock it. Saves carrying forward, trophy unlocks, etc are very much natural enhancements to the modern version of a demo.
@TaMpA_bLaCk the "trials" are an incredible insult to consumers and I'm not sure why people don't push back. Demos are advertising to convince you to purchase a full game. They should be free, not behind a paywall.
I really want to buy this, but the lack of reviews so close to launch tells me that Sony is worried about something with the controller. Will wait until they're a V2 that irons out whatever issues they are

@thefourfoldroot1 genuinely do not understand why they did that. Absolutely idiotic

I'm excited to see what a Pro would have to offer but if it's digital only it'll never be a purchase from me.
