Dev Pledges to Make Crimson Desert 'Even More Enjoyable' as It Sells Over 3 Million Copies in First Week

I was actually interested in this game but hearing that the story belongs in the Khia asylum was a huge turnoff... Playing this after finishing Banishers would be a the very definition of a whiplash lol. Still, I'm so happy that the game turned out to be a success!

Honestly good for them for selling 3M but it does make you think "surely it should have been enjoyable since day 1?"

And word of mouth trumps some dodgy reviews from people who get stuck on the tutorial puzzle for over an hour , i love this game , been a very long time since I've been thinking about a game ,when im not playing it ,its hard to stop , very addictive.

@Oram77 it was enjoyable thats why its sold 3 million copies , they only recently added a patch , a storage chest and slightly easier bosses isnt going to sell a million copies of any game,word of mouth gets around no matter how many critics tell people its bad , same thing happened to days gone.

I've got to play this game just out of curiosity. I'm kind of glad my backlog has stopped me from getting it straight away though

@lazarus11 Bro we get it, you love the game (you say this on every article) but no game is invulnerable to criticism, just like my personal GOTY RE9 there are still things they could improve on, (oh which has sold over 6 million copies) same with Crimson Desert.

In a year o so should be a good game after all feedback

@Frmknst if you think thats all there is your missing out , ive had more excitement, more wow moments,more suprises in my 20 hours of gameplay than the whole of ac shadows and yotei combined , and im still in the first area.

@Oram77 and some people hate it without having even played it, im here to level things out , Requiem is superb i loved that as well , but its a much beloved franchise i expect it to do well , for a studios first single player game with no massive fan following, 3 million sales for crimson desert is highly impressive , there must be a reason its selling so well, i dunno ,maybe the game is actually great.

@Shepherd_Tallon same here! The world looks awesome, the activities, puzzles and boss fights keep surprising me every time. Great game. Got too much negatives tbh.

I look forward to playing it in 10-12 months when they've released all the notable patches to make the game more enjoyable. Thanks to all the beta testers who bought early.

@Frmknst So, you must dislike the average consumer, who works 5 days a week and does “boring” tasks.

I haven’t played the game yet - I bought it yesterday because the more I read about the game, and hear from those on forums, they are enjoying the game a lot. When it comes to open world games with an emphasis on exploration, I gravitate more to those games. I never expect a game of that magnitude to have a great story and character behind it — it’s rare when that is achieved; however, the consensus seems to be exploration is on the same level as Elden Ring, and I crave those moments. Additionally, it seems like Pearl Abyss is really listening to its audience and trying to make improvements as hastily as possible. Say what you want about AI generated art: I’m personally never going to really notice, or if I do it won’t break my immersion, so if there is a painting on a wall that doesn’t look right, it’s whatever.

thats the trouble years ago you bought a game on a disk it and it at to work now most need patches asap to play them still thats what modern gaming is today

Like most other positive comments - been massively enjoying this since launch, those patches that dropped yesterday have made a huge difference.

@Oram77 It was. People are crying because the controls are different than what they're used to. It's unbelievable how lazy people are nowadays. Unwilling to absorb and accept any new information.

@don-neto yeah i get you, there's good and bad though, back in the day if a game was broken it stayed broken.

I’m really enjoying it. The controls aren’t even that bad once you get used to them. I’ve also seen people saying it looks bad, even on the pro and I have no idea what they are smoking. The game looks amazing to me and you just want to explore everywhere. The side quests at the beginning aren’t very exciting but that doesn’t bother me because if it means heading off to a new part of the map I haven’t been too yet then I’m happy!
