It only launched a few hours ago, but Crimson Desert has already sold through two million copies worldwide, making it a massive success for dev Pearl Abyss.

In a message on social media, the dev acknowledged the support of its fans, and said it’s already paying close attention to feedback and will continue to improve the game over time.

A spokesperson said:

“We will listen closely to the wide range of feedback shared by the community and work to make improvements quickly, doing our utmost to make the journey ahead even more enjoyable for our players.”

Reviews focused on PC only, and we’ve only just been able to test the console release.

So far, we think the base PS5 is “rough”, and have captured 25 minutes of direct feed footage to show that.

However, the game looks and runs better on the PS5 Pro, even if we’re finding the quest design and narrative structure bizarre. We’ll have a full review ASAP.

While reviews for the game have been fine, they’ve fallen below the expectations some players had, as some believed Crimson Desert may be a Game of the Year contender.

It currently sits at a 78 on Metacritic, which is good, but not the masterpiece some anticipated.

Nevertheless, that’s certainly not hindered the game’s launch day sales, and it looks like Crimson Desert is going to be a huge hit for dev Pearl Abyss.
