Fortnite Is Ditching Several Modes Including Rocket Racing Amid Layoffs and Cost-Cutting 1

Epic Games has just announced that it's laying off more than 1,000 employees, and it's all part of a big push to cut costs.

Fortnite itself will feel some of the impact from these changes, too, as it's now been confirmed that several modes are being shut down.

Fortnite Ballistic, Fortnite Festival Battle Stage, and Rocket Racing are all getting the boot.

Ballistic and Festival Battle Stage are closing on 16th April 2026, while Rocket Racing has until October before it'll no longer be playable.

It seems these three modes are going away because they failed to attract a large enough audience. "We've built a lot of Fortnite modes, and in some cases we failed to build something awesome enough to attract and retain a large player base," Epic says.

Ballistic is a first-person, team-based shooter mode that's been in Early Access since 2024. Festival is the rhythm-based game, and Battle Stage is its competitive PvP mode. Rocket Racing is an arcade racer spin-off of Rocket League.

If you've any burning desire to play any of these Fortnite modes, now's the time.
