The Katamari Damacy series is one of gaming's greatest joys, and so it's great to see it make a grand return with a brand new entry: Once Upon a Katamari.

Unlike the remasters released in the last few years, Once Upon a Katamari is an all-new game, as you can see in the reveal trailer:

In this game, you'll need to roll up objects to form stars yet again, only this time, you'll be travelling through different eras.

Special items can be employed to help you complete missions, like a magnet that attracts nearby objects and a timer that freezes things in place.

You'll also be able to fully customise the Prince and his cousins however you like. There's also a four-player competitive online mode called KatamariBall, though details are thin on that for now.

The soundtrack is composed of returning artists and some new ones, and it's sounding pretty catchy so far.

The game launches on 24th October 2025, available digitally and physically.

Pre-ordering gets you some early customisation unlocks, and two DLC packs will also be available. One contains lots of songs from previous games, while the other includes a bunch of customisation parts from older titles.

Finally, if you have save data from Katamari Damacy Reroll or We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie, you'll get access to the King of All Cosmos in his childhood form as a playable, customisable character.
