Remedy has revealed its co-op-focused Control spin-off, named FBC: Firebreak, will launch for PS5 on 17th June 2025. The game is included in PS Plus Extra from day one, meaning we now know the first title included in that month's lineup for the service, even before May's selection has been confirmed.
If you wish to buy the game, it'll cost £32.99 / $39.99 for the base version, and all post-launch content will be free. There is also a Deluxe Edition on offer that bundles in extra voice packs, cosmetics, and skins for an additional £7 / $10.
"Return to the strange and unexpected world of Control or venture in for the first time in this standalone, multiplayer experience. Discover the iconic and unfathomable headquarters of the FBC — the Oldest House — from an entirely new perspective as a team of volunteer first responders with nothing but gear and guts to bring the Bureau back from the brink."
Will you give FBC: Firebreak a go on PS Plus Extra, or are you buying it outright? Let us know in the comments below.

Control was great because it was single player I hate that all these Devs sell out chasing multiplayer money
@MisterWhen Don’t be so ignorant. They made a game that they wanted to make, Remedy has talked a lot about having a large culture of FPS gaming inside their studio. The idea that people might like both narrative single player games and co-op shooters is really that strange?
It doesn’t look good to me
@LiamCroft I’d rather talk about the last game of the season against you’re mob 😂. We could send you down or vice Versa 🤷♂️
Definitely an in between game to fund their next big project.
@PlatinumMikey I'm hoping there won't be anything riding on the game, where we beat Hull this weekend and Luton lose to Coventry. I wouldn't say no to an extra three points from yourselves, though
@LiamCroft 😂😂 ditto! I can see us getting a result against sheff though🤞 I work with loads of derby fans. The banter is real!
@MisterWhen i know the feeling. as someone who loves multiplayer i was pissed when red barrels decided to make a multiplayer outlast spinoff instead of an outlast 3.
@MisterWhen They are also making Control 2! I'm glad Remedy is trying something different for them in between big SP games. And I wouldn't say they're chasing multiplayer money, the post says all post-launch content is free and it's not even a premium release.
For what it's worth I think FBC looks fun. I like a good co-op PvE experience, and nobody makes better settings than Remedy.
Control was a janky and unengaging third person shooter with a quirky X-Files vibe to it. Remedy are overrated in the extreme.
@MisterWhen FYI, Remedy said here that you can play it solo:

Looks intriguing to me. I love Remedy. A Remedy game, a Kojima game, and a Metroid game all in one year. Sometimes the industry feels made for me specifically.
I like remedy, I'm rooting for them to do well and find that monumental seller that secures their long term future, I suspect this won't be that. Does nothing for me, id have to hear overwhelmingly postive hype for me to even contemplate giving it a go even for "free"
can only hope they've covered their backs financially by bringing it straight to subscription services it also gives them a lot of day 1 eyes so they've made a wise decision in signing those deals.
Good luck to them.
Smart move keeping it free at launch to build the base.
@LiamCroft your close to my neck of the woods in stoke I think like stoke Derby might just survive I hope this is good but I have visions of that god awful last xbox exclusive they released I can't remember it's name it was an awful game
I always appreciate the wit and humour of Control.
So, the rogue mass-multiplying sticky-notes really made me chuckle. I could see the root cause being a driven career woman.
I believe this is the third game, after Sea of Stars & Blue Prince, to come to both Game Pass and PS+ Extra Day 1, so it's in mighty strong company. Have there been any others?
hate co op so hell no
Loved control, so I might give this a look - but I'm not a multi player kinda guy normally..
I loved Control, such a surreal game.
But with this going straight to PSplus, it's a thumbs down already.
@GirlVersusGame please play Control 😀
NIIIIIIIIIICE!!!!! I’ve been looking forward to this game so I’ll be all over it day 1 w my PS+ Extra subscription. Game looks like it’ll be a good time!
@GirlVersusGame also Alan wake 1 & 2 !!
