I'm surprised Rocksteady is still a studio if I'm being honest 🤔 Seems these days a game company is on the chopping block for much less!
@graymamba For all of its faults, I love the humor, and I think the gameplay is fine (albeit a bit bland at times). And for what it's worth, my wife (a huge DC fan) was never a big fan of third person shooters until she played this, so that's worth something. I also give them props for making the game playable offline, warts and all.

Nobody wanted suicide squad or gotham knights, everyone wanted more batman arkham games. wb just chasing trends & live service money.

@nomither6 Making SSKTJL live service was purely Rocksteady's idea as reported by Jason Schreier last year. WB just told them to make whatever Suicide Squad game they wanted.

The Batman Arkham games are so good, their legacy is the only thing keeping Rocksteady alive (for now)

The worst part about this is that they still own the Nemesis system. At least until 2036

WB released a game in Q1 last year. They didn't release a game in Q1 this year.

Hence the decline...

It's normal for publishers to not regularly release games in Q1.

And I think we can stop the doom and gloom nonsense too. Hogwart's Legacy was and continues to be a success!

And that's before we even consider the fact Time Warner have more than enough cash flow to fund scores of naff games in search of the one golden goose.

They won't recover until Hogwarts 2 comes out. Still can't believe they cancelled Monolith from existence.

Stop making all these live service titles there's not enough time for people to play, watch, ect.

Warner bros as a publishing outfit have been mismanaged far longer than just suicide squad.

Sony should have learned the Redfall /suicide squad lesson back then or at the very least taken some notes. Instead they learned all the wrong things and learned nothing as to why Hell Divers was a rare but fairly decent success.

They are going to learn it the hard way even more so in the next 18 months.

They sowed live action slop with Captain Boomerang and his iconic guns, so they reaped what they deserved.

Stupid title. If they don't release new game, how can we expect to recover revenue from last year's game, particularly from the bombed game.

I don't know why people are saying that this is a nonsense story when WB themselves blame the 48% decline on SS:KtJL. This is the direct quote from their quarterly earnings report:

• Games revenue decreased 48% ex-FX, due to the prior year release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
  compared to no releases in the current year quarter, as well as higher carryover from Hogwarts Legacy and
  Mortal Kombat 1 in the prior year.

(Emphasis added.)

So WB is saying that sales are down because nothing released this quarter compared to the same quarter last year. And this article is pointing out that nothing released in Q1 2025 in part because of the ongoing impact of SS:KtJL's blast radius on their other studios.

I actually bought it on sale late last year and only played it recently and actually thought the game was really good, both gameplay and story. If you didn't associate online live sevice (which tou dont have to use) or that its a rock steady game then it would be appreciated much more. If they are moaning about lack of sales then giving it away as part of jan ps plus was never gonna help.

They could just remaster Arkham origins like people have been asking for years with some QOL updates to make it more playable and it would sell like crazy. It’s Batman and probably one of the least played titles.

Should have gone with Chris Raygun’s suggestion of Self-Harm Squad Unalives the Justice League, maybe it’d do better.

@nomither6 What's worse is that all the lead devs that actually made the game abandoned the studio before release so they would less likely to be associated with the mess they made, leaving all the lower level employees to take the hit. Their new studio is 100 Star Games and I would not trust anything they ever put out

I personally never understood the appeal of Suicide Squad.

The IP itself just doesn't have that je ne sais quoi. On top of that, set the game in Metropolis, which has no character beyond being, ya know, a metropolis and switching out stealth/action gameplay for a bland 3rd person shooter and you have a disaster in the making.

Just another example of talented developers being led by incompetent management that doesn't understand the market they're in.

@Boucho11 I picked up a hard copy of Origins on 360 and started playing it on my series X.

It’s amazing how a game from 2013 surpassed this slop in almost every possible way.

And WB/NRS just announced the "Definitive Edition" of Mortal Kombat 1 which essentially means support is over and they're on to the next project.

WarnerBros is becoming the worst...like how do you mess up a concept as great as Multiversus? A free to play Smashlike with WB characters...and it's dead.

Now MK1 is dead.

Also, this year marks 10 years since arkham knight release - the last batman we got 😭😭

@Boucho11 It would need a little polish for sure, but I enjoyed my two hours with Origins more than my two hours playing the Suicide Squad beta, that’s for sure.

It runs really well on series X, and I should bust out my PS3 and copy of Origins to see how it compares. I don’t THINK it got any fps boosts on MS side…

Time Warner has nothing to do with Warner Bros… They had nothing to do with them for years. Warner Bro is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery which is sinking ship at this point.

I tried it. I played for maybe (MAYBE) 2 hours. It was so unfun to me. And I am a fan of looter shooters, TPS games, and super hero fair.

It was aggravatingly dumb and not remotely what a Suicide Squad game should have been.

I played co-op with my brother and at first we really enjoyed it. Good production value, great graphics, cutscenes and voice acting. Plus the shooting and traversal was satisfying. You can tell the developers really did try, but man did the game get repetitive towards the end.

And yet I bet that the people who ultimately decided what that game was going to be (a live service game they wanted to milk) are still sitting in their very cushty jobs whilst laying off people who simply followed their instructions.

Genuinely borderline criminal to tie rocksteady down to that garbage for a decade, could have had 2 possibly even 3 batman games in that timeframe and even if it was just more of the same would have been superb.

This game was a total scam. I don't like seeing the developers lose their job when it was management's decisions to make it such, with no consequence to them of course, but this loss is well deserved.

Sorry, but serves them right for pushing this stupid live service crap that nobody asked for.
