@Splash_Woman Oh man. I finally finished the first Death Stranding two days ago and the credit sequence+exposition dump at the end felt like an hour. I was about to lose it. It was so unnecessarily dragged out. Ended up putting the ps5 in rest mode and let it run the next day.
Nah. PS Studios expansions while nice, take way too long to develop. By the time they come out, I’ve been long done with the game and it’s so confusing trying to figure out all the mechanics again so I just get whooped for a while. I’d rather they start working on a new inFamous or IP.
@Veritas7Ax this is why I only buy games when they’re on super sale. Indie games for less than 10 or AAA less than 20. I won’t be too upset when it eventually gets thrown into Plus or Gamepass.
Never played a Silent Hill game and never pulled the trigger on this one because the Pro issues so this’ll be a good test to see if I click with these games. Also never pulled the trigger on Until Dawn because it never hit a sale price I would buy it at so this is good news for me. It’s my favorite horror game so I’m excited to play it again.
@REALAIS I have definitely kept it running while cooking, cleaning, spending time with gf, etc so I def have way less hours played than it says haha. But I think they might have finally fixed the hours played across the board? Yesterday it was 27 hours on the app, in my profile, and within the game base itself. Usually the profile and game base hours were different by a large margin. Interesting!
So far it’s an 8. I’m like 20 hours in (27 according to the PS app but I don’t trust that) but only beat the Oni so far. I’m loving it, especially the exploration. It doesn’t feel like busy work like Tsushima did. Everything feels natural. I think the only thing I can knock it for is the difficulty and lock in camera. I started on hard and the bosses were ridiculous with how they spam blue/red attacks so I dropped it to medium. The lock in camera has been a huge hassle so I don’t even use it. I lock onto enemies and it’ll just randomly turn and mess me up. Trying to move the lock to different enemies is also just awful.
@DennisReynolds I always agree with your points but I feel like you’re just wasting time by responding to the people like the person you’re responding to in this article. If they were serious about boycotting a company because of something an employee said, they’d have to boycott every company and go live like a hermit. But they won’t because it doesn’t fit the narrative they tell themselves in their head. Best thing to do is block and move on because you’ll get nothing but deflection and just talking in a circle. Save yourself the time as that’s the most valuable thing we have!
@Ravix good to know! I remember being impressed with the Spider-Man 2 CE so I can’t wait to open this up tonight and add that mask to my display case. Just hoping and praying it’s at my door and someone didn’t steal it before I get home. Only had packages disappear twice in the last 2 years but big, expensive packages like this always have me nervous. It’s worse today because I picked up overtime so I’ll be home even later! Anxiety is killing me!
“ looks like it could be pushing Sony’s system hard.”
What about it makes you think that? Graphically doesn't look anywhere near as good as anything out these days and the animations all looked weird. Like the characters are moving like they do but their muscles are stiff or something. It doesn’t seem natural. I have a feeling this will be one of those super janky games that just doesn’t pull off what it sets out to do.
I’ve come to terms with the fact that our lord and savior Sly Cooper is permanently vaulted but it will never stop hurting when articles like these appear.
@Rich33 I think that hits the nail on the head. I’ve stopped watching any kind of showcase. I keep my expectations in check but still usually end up kinda disappointed. But that’s the name of the game these days. Games take longer than ever now. I just watch the separate trailers after. Time is limited so watching a livestream that you can’t fast forward makes no sense. My friends are the same.
I can’t imagine very many of them played more than a few hours. I tried it last week for a couple hours and there was just no one online. Never got into a full lobby and it took forever to find a match with even one other player. Remedy should just cut it loose and move on.
Haven’t played it yet but I did not know he was the main character, or in the game for that matter. I thought Ben Starr was the main character. Anywho, he’s a great actor and I met him once while doing delivery jobs here in NYC like 10 years ago. It was right after the first Daredevil season. I told him I was a big fan and he shook my hand. He was really nice. Glad he’s back as The Devil of Hells Kitchen.
I put like 40 hours into DS1 before I burned out and never went back because I knew I would have to restart it after taking so much time off. Then the PS5 version came out with new content and I knew I’d definitely have to restart it. So I finally did just that over the weekend. Mainly to show my gf how weird the intro is but ended up putting like 10 hours into it. I didn’t mean to but alas, here we are. I’ll probably end up buying the CE for this when I beat DS1 sometime this summer. I’ve really not seen much besides one or two trailers for this so I’m excited to go in blind when I get to it. But man, I’m so behind on games. I have to try and finish Returnal sometime before Saros comes out.
@Northern_munkey at the end of the day, PS is a business and I imagine articles on this game get them enough clicks to warrant continuous coverage. I doubt anyone wants to actually continue talking about this game but if that’s where the money is, we can’t blame PS.
I heard that shadowy figure paying people for negative press also paid the dev team to release a horrible game. Oh the horror!!!
Edit: I’m surprised no one has mentioned that IOI is attached to this as a publisher. Were they not aware of the state of the game? We need a deep dive report on everything going on during the development of this game.
I tried the first game twice. First on Gamepass, and again this week on Extra. It’s just so boring. I like Rick & Morty but this just dials that up to 11 which, no. The gameplay was also super bland. I’m good with not trying this.
I saw clips of this on YouTube many years ago so when my friend told me they were showing some game called Ill yesterday, I was shocked. Every time a new clip dropped, it always looked insane but pretty much everyone thought it wasn’t a real game. To see Mundfish is publishing, which means this is actually a real game is so weird after so many years.
@Nyne11Tyme My girlfriend isn’t a gamer. The most she’s played on console is Animal Crossing. I tried playing Sackboy with her but she wasn’t into it. Also, anything horror is her mortal enemy. The stalkers in season 2 of TLOU made her cry every time they were on screen lmao. The rat king in live action is probably going to traumatize her.
I bought the upgrade along with Spider-Man and Days Gone upgrades to get some more Stars points and cash in on another $5 before Stars ends next month. Also told my girlfriend she has to watch me play both TLOU games since we finished season 2 over the weekend and season 3 is probably like two years away. She likes the show a lot so maybe she’ll like watching me play the games.
@graymamba the grind actually isn’t too bad in TFD, especially with the Pity system they implemented. I got all the characters (besides Ult. Blair) by playing. But I also logged like 670 hours in it. I kind of fell off it though. Played once or twice in the last two weeks. Replaying Ghost of Tsushima took priority and I don’t have all the time in the world. TFD is still good game though! I’ll probably jump back in when the new season comes around.
@joeyflannel I’m really excited for Metal Eden but apparently it’s been delayed to “summer 2025”. Unfortunate as I was planning on getting it day 1 but it’ll be a better game for it.
Can’t wait to play them 4 years after release when they’re actually finished and cost $20. I’ve yet to play Valhalla even though I own the ultimate edition. Oddysey was the last one I plays and that was like 4 years ago. With how big AC games are, I need a huge break in between them.
Can’t wait. Secured my collectors edition. Sucker Punch is my favorite developer. Sly Cooper and inFamous are two of my favorite video game franchises and now I’ll be able to add the Ghost games to that list. Replaying Tsushima right now because I never got around to the Iki Island DLC and it looks absolutely incredible on my Pro. This game is probably going to blind me with how gorgeous it ends up looking when made from the ground up with the Pro in mind.
@Rich33 I agree with you, which is why I most likely will still buy Sony games day 1. Last year the only day 1 titles I got were Astro Bot, Helldivers, Until Then, and A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead. In 2023, it was Alan Wake 2, Spider-Man 2, and Remnant 2. A lot of the time, games can come out fully optimized and finished day 1 but depending on the dev, you still know they’re going to provide updates that change a lot so there really isn’t any point in buying them. Vote with your wallet has never been more accurate.
@Ryu_Niiyama oof, that sucks. My girlfriend and I share very different interests but she would never actually try to toss my stuff out or anything. That’s just basic respect. And that’s unfortunate about women disapproving of your hobby just because you’re also a woman. I hope you find someone who respects your hobby.
@Ravix all depends on your lifestyle! I own two cats and my girlfriend loves fostering so there’s usually 3 cats at home (like now) so a glass case was necessary. I got my Pro already off eBay for almost $200 less than I would’ve gotten it new. Depending on my career position and the price of a PS6, I might just stick with the Pro for a couple years before I move onto the 6. I’m also not really willing to pay $80 for games.
