Build a Rocket Boy, the bizarre Scottish studio behind 2025’s gigaflop MindsEye, is not giving up. You’ve got to give the company some degree of credit for that.
For starters, it’s permanently reducing the price of the game to $34.99/£29.99. The Deluxe Edition will drop to $47.99/£34.99. And there’s now a full two-hour trial for PS Plus Premium members to try.
It’s also continuing to iterate on the panned open world, this week with the release of a free new mission named BLACKLISTED.

From what we understand, this was originally intended to feature Agent 47, as you may recall Hitman maker IO Interactive published the original game. But it’s since severed all relationships with the studio, so the aforementioned skinhead has been replaced with a buxom badass named Julia.
Those of you who’ve really been paying attention will know that Build a Rocket Boy has been accusing “external saboteurs” of ruining the reputation of MindsEye. And this particular mission is supposed to expose that.
But having watched a few playthroughs on YouTube, we don’t think it does anything of the sort. There are some vague references to the “Ritual Network”, a real-life influencer talent agency accused of working with content creator Cyber Boi on attacking the title.
There’s also one section where you’ll tail a DJ wearing a mask who bears a passing resemblance to the aforementioned YouTuber, but that’s about it. No shocks; no wild revelations.
One thing we should note here is that the new mission only lasts about 45 minutes and you can’t save your progress during it. There are checkpoints if you die, but if you quit the game or power down your console, then you’ll inexplicably have to start the mission from scratch.
Anyway, in a press release, CEO Mark Gerhard seemed to suggest this is just the beginning of MindsEye’s post-release support:
“BLACKLISTED marks the first new story campaign for MindsEye since launch, and we’re excited to welcome players back to Redrock City to experience it in a new way. Rather than traditional DLC, BLACKLISTED is delivered through our user-generated content platform ARCADIA, which is built into MindsEye.”
We must admit, the more this author learns about the game, the more he wants to play it. But even with this new price point, it’s still about ten times too expensive to take a punt.
