@Sanquine
It's the best combination of solid pick up 'n play arcade gameplay with Diablo or Destiny looting and leveling goodness I've ever seen. The base of the game is just what you expect from Housemarque, which is to say an incredible game on a gameplay and technical level, but now they've sprinkled these RPG-lite elements on top I can see myself playing this game for a long, long time.
Sony's own first party output this gen just hasn't been great, with lots of delays and some mediocre games, but with Uncharted 4 (finally) on the Horizon () I can't say it matters all too much thus far. We've been treated to such excellent exclusive second party and third party content that I don't even feel these butterflies in my stomach that I usually feel when one of Sony's big blockbusters is about to release; between Enter the Gungeon, Salt 'n Sactuary (get both if you already haven't), Alienation, Ratchet & Clank and a bit of Dark Souls 3, I quite frankly don't have the time to think about UC4 whenever I switch my PS4 on.
I've seen people complaining about Alienation, both gamers and critics that are actually paid for it alike, that it's "storyline is a bit weak".... my jaw just drops every time I read stuff like that; do these people really want to pass up on one of the best PS4 games out there gameplay wise, because of an element that has no place in games like these in the first place? "It's just the same old story of shooting aliens and not bringing anything new to the table", yeah duh! That the whole point! It's an arcade title at heart and it's meant to be as mechanically sound as possible, which it totally is, and nothing else.
It's arguably the best time to be alive as a gamer, so I pity the people who somehow can't seem to enjoy all the Greatness™.
@get2sammyb
I will, but I've heard from several people how hard it is. Luckily I don't use social media, so I just have to refrain from reading comment sections... Comment sections like these
Alien - flipping - Nation for me; sweet Lord that game is good! It's neon- lighted crack that keeps me coming back for more, but unlike crack it doesn't ruin my life.... yet.
@get2sammyb I know that you're on NeoGaf 24/7, so you've probably heard already, but are you gonna report on the Crash Easter Egg in UC4? Or are you honoring the official release date?
It seems an announcement of a reboot of some sorts this e3 is inevitable!
I was pretty stoked for this game, but after this trailer I'm afraid it's almost becoming a caricature of itself to be completely honest; It looks like a parody on Deus Ex...
Competition- Apartheid, that's what it is... Brings back some awful memories from way back when I wasn't allowed to guess that pig's weight. I'm positive it weighed 232lbs, which would've netted my family half its weight in meat; porkchops for everyone!
@Neolit
Exactly! Who will buy the "base PS4" for $349 if a way more powerful Xbox One Plus 1 is available for practically the same price? Not only that, the NEO will make the range of PS products simply more varied: you can pick whatever you like whether you're a gamer, a techie who's just in it for the VR or a housemom that just wants to watch Netflix and her Greys Anatomy Blu Ray box. (Male chauvinist pig in da house! )
More OT: PlayStation is doing wonderful, but Sony as a whole has tons of money dripping out of its pockets every step forward it makes. If you see what the PS division almost single handedly has to keep afloat, it's clear they can't have another PS3 era ever again.
Sweet! Lots less explaining to do to the missus. She's on board with VR, but the NEO not so much. She's old fashioned like lots of others I see here, but today when she said: "I just can't over the fact they do this, they are the number one this gen by a stretch", I replied that that's true and that Sony probably wants to keep it that way. With the One being so far behind, they have little to lose and they would normally make the first move. But why wait for them to bring the Xbox 'Elite' and seduce people to buy a more powerful One this holiday season instead of the base PS4?
With the NEO there will be a PS4 for everyone and Sony won't be caught by MS with potentially a way more powerful Xbox One this festive season. So I think my wife gets its now and with the NX, which is a 'blind' purchase in our household anyway, out of the way I think by the end of this year I'll be enjoying my games with a better framerate, lose myself in virtual worlds and will probably find a way to justify the purchase of the new One as well
So much wonderful game for so little money. Housemarque can't do no wrong in my book; they always deliver action packed arcadey goodness which is easy to pick up, but so hard to master. Between this, Enter the Gungeon and Salt 'n Sanctuary I don't even have time for Dark Souls.
@andreoni79 @andreoni79 Lol, Mediterranean people talking bout their poverty always crack me up. I've visited Italy on more than one occasion, but aside from some refugees and Roma and Sinti, people are just fine.
6/7 an hour? And you're telling me that's bad? I'm fortunate enough to have a job that pays me reasonably well, but my brother for example is glad when he earns €300 a month... That's right, a month. And in Italy I can buy me a PS4 with a game and controller for €350, here I'm lucky to find one for €550. You don't know poverty, you don't know what it is to be hungry, to go to bed at night without supper for 2 weeks straight because there is no money. To be fed stale white bread with self made "peanut butter" for most of your childhood and wear shoes so long that you toes literally start growing out.
I'm positive that a change in console's gamers mentality can democratize the console market and make for a better console penetration. If new consoles are available every 3 years that use the same architecture, then people in Africa and South America won't be paying €500, but €200 for these consoles. The industry has to change whether you like it or not, this has got nothing to do with people in developing countries who aren't taken into account foolishly enough btw , so I rather focus on the positive side effects than keep on WHINING that your neighbor might have a better framerate playing Battlefield 5 than you do come November.
@WanderingBullet
I'm a FF fan, but I'm an even bigger Play Arts fan and collector. I have quite a lot of Play Arts Kai figures and tracking down the exclusive ones can be a real pain. So here we have a series of 4 figures, that obviously I want to complete. But one of them, arguably the most important one being Noctis, is only avaliable in this CE. If there are so little figures out there, the insane asking price is worth it for me, because I know that hunting down a Noctis in the future will cost me even more if it's so limited. The minute they start making more however, it isn't worth €269 to me no more, because the figure won't be as rare as I initially thought it was and I really feel scr*wed over now.
People always assume it's just resellers that hate reprints, but for me as a collector it's a pain as well. And it's not just availability, I'm always completely honest about that; the feeling of having something so many people want and that all my collector friends are jealous of feels pretty good tbh.
@get2sammyb
Hahah, I heard my kids using that phrase once, but it seems that this is a case of 'that old man, tho'.
I'm really excited for Alienation and Housemarque are with Platinum Games and Nintendo my favorite developers in the industry. Their games just speak to me in a way not many games these days do, and when this kind of raw, solid, old- fashioned gameplay meets this level of refinement and state-of-the-art tech, I can get really excited.
I've been gravitating towards these more 'arcady' titles more and more often and my eyes have really been opened the last five years. We've seen some of the biggest launches in the whole entertainment industry, but I felt a sense of boredom that grew ever bigger. I wanted big budget titles but I was playing them like a zombie and it started to feel like a task at some point. Now I've found a balance where I play smaller games like Salt 'n Sanctuary alongside the huge triple A blockbuster Dark Souls 3 and I'm a happy gamer because of it. These "indies" make me enjoy the bigger titles and vice versa and although Alienation isn't an 'indie title' in the true sense of the word, the focus on pure gameplay makes me really excited for its launch next week!
@k_andersen
It's a well written review. An 8 or a 9, who cares?! Based on your review I would've checked the game out anyway. I pre ordered this game because I played it on several trade shows and the Devolver Digital representatives had to kick me out of their boot every time cause I couldn't stop playing. DD is a great publisher but the way, they seem to scoop up pure good with every game they get the publishing rights to and Enter the Dungeon is one of my favorite games of the year so far.
There's been a real transformation in my live as a gamer anyway, where I seem to be playing more indies than triple A games as the years progress. These indies give me the gameplay I desire, where triple A games are too focussed on stuff that in the end doesn't really matter for me as a gamer.
I think I'll cancel my CE then. Honestly the asking price is too steep, but since it was so limited I wanted to have it anyway, if they're gonna reprint it even before the game's out they might be sitting in the bargain bin by December.
This wouldn't be the first time I buy a CE which is grossly overpriced, to see them on Amazon a few months after launch for less than half of the initial asking price, Titanfall and Halo come to mind for example.
@whywai88
I'm not saying people with a PS4 are whiners, I say people who are still crying foul after it's made clear that Sony won't allow disparity are a bunch of whiners. The thing isn't even announced yet and people are willing to go to (virtual) war!
You should stop thinking console, start thinking PC, yet with all the benefits a console has. I'm specifically saying that in the long run PS4 users will even benefit from this, because with the new architecture games simply scale to the old or new hardware. Sure, there won't be the type of optimization that we once saw, but the only reason there was so much optimization in the PS360 era was because those consoles were way too expensive for both Sony and MS as the consumers when they came out. This time around we didn't get hardware that left much room for the optimization as we once knew it and we got it at a fair price and the manufacturers didn't lose any money on it.
People need to see the bigger picture, need to see how much this will open up the market. There are 40- 45 million PS4's sold by the end of this year? Whoopdidoo! There are at least a billion people out there that would want a ps4 at he right price, but probably more like 2 billion. To take this step now will democratize the market and will make it possible not just for me to buy a PS4, but for my fellow countrymen as well! We don't care if you can run it at 60fps, we would die to play Horizon Zero Dawn in any way! Do you realize that where I live people are still playing on their PS2s? We get people over who's kids go mad when they see my PS3 hooked up and that's before I show them my gaming room. These people will be able to afford a PS4 on which they can play many of the latest games on for 10 years to come, just like they can buy an iPhone 5 that people in the West no longer care about; it gives them acces to iOS, the same as people in the west use and a love for Apple is born the very minute they can play Clash of Clans or whatever... Sony can do this, PlayStation can be everywhere. 40 million PS4s, don't make me laugh: they can sell that amount of PS4s in Brazil alone at the right price.
Looking at Sony's gameplan this gen this shouldn't really surprise anyone: Sony lets the Juggernauts battle it out in the holiday season, while they make sure there's a steady stream of games the rest of the year.
Why on earth would you let a new IP go up against FFXV, CoD, Battlefield and possibly Titanfall and WatchDogs?? You don't want a game that costs so much to make and could possibly be the next big Sony blockbuster, fighting over scraps in October. Gamers have a finite amount of time and money and especially with PS VR launching and taking the spotlight they would be insane to launch this game in the fall.
@Napples At a certain point Sony will allow for devs to make games that are better on Neo (but probably still playable on the old PS4), but you need to understand that it isn't very likely that the big publishers will neglect a 40- 50 million base- PS4 gamers install base just like that.
The beauty of the architecture that they are using is that 10 years from now people will still be able to play games that just launched. This will be mostly indies, games that are not as taxing and sportsgames, but it'll be so much easier for EA for example to make a "legacy FIFA" within the same architecture, than to develop it for a totally different console like they have to do now.
Here in South Africa most people still play on their PS3s, but they hardly get new games, in the future there will be tons of games that will still be able to be enjoyed on the consoles even if they're 10 years old.
This new model will make the current PS4 much cheaper and there will be a lively after market. This means more "penetration" and ultimately more sales of software, hardware and subscriptions to Plus, Now and Vue. Gamers will need to adapt to new business models, and not just on the hardware side of things: developing games has become expensive and incredibly risky and we'll have to get used to episodical and seasonal content, more DLC and F2P games.
Ultimately there will be a democratization of the console market where everyone will be able to play games. People with little cash can buy a cheaper console and still play with "rich" people. If you don't have money for games, or you don't feel like spending $60 on it, you can just play it for free because other people with more disposable income keep on buying costumes. You'll be able to try an episode for $15 and if you don't like it you won't pay for the other episodes etc etc.
I hear so many people saying this will affect people that have little money negatively, but the complete opposite is true if you really think about it.
@sub12 That's the point: is it really "inferior" if it's exactly the same version as you've been given otherwise?? A new and improved PS4 doesn't make your old PS4 less powerful, you'll just won't have the most powerful console anymore.
You can ask any Xbox One gamer that it doesn't matter for you that there is a console out that's more powerful. I understand you're not living in a vacuum, but if Sony guarantees you'll get the same games and features and that nothing changes for you, why does it upset you that I have a better framerate?
This is the new reality because it's isn't realistic to expect manufacturers to fund 40% of the consoles like the used to; they'll use off the shelf parts that are cheap and readily available and build a lean and mean console every 3 years. And because of the forward (till a certain extent) and backwards compatibility the games we buy today are still playable in 10 years.
I'm living in a 3rd world country and a new PS4 would mean that the base PS4 will become cheaper and our people will finally be able to afford it, without having to play last gen games. Sony will sell so many more consoles and software because of this and if people would just see the bigger picture they would understand this decision better. If Sony and MS don't come up with a new business model and if we as gamers stay as stubborn as we are, there won't be any games or consoles left to play for us in 10 years.
Man, these sales are killing me! I've just begun my 3rd DS3 run to get the proper ending this time and I'm still playing Salt 'n Sanctuary and Enter the Gungeon religiously as well. With Alienation coming up, Quantum Break that I still need to finish, Legend of Heroes that's waiting for me and Bravely Second that still needs another 10 hours minimum, I just can't afford to buy anymore games. But dear Lord, Mad Max is so cheap on Plus and I'd like to have Digimon on my Vita where I should've gotten it in the first place too! Whhhhyyyyyyyyy?!?!
I'm the type of guy that buys games "just in case", but my "just in case" stack is getting bigger and bigger, both physical as digitally. My wife actually has a nickname for me that's based on my obsessive need to buy games that I feel are to cheap to pass on; she calls me 'Justin Case' whenever I'm browsing the PS store again
I just don't understand the outrage, I honestly don't. It's pretty much a given now that the 'Neo' won't in any way affect the future of the base- PS4 user, what is the problem then? Sony's been giving guidelines to devs stating both old and new PS4 users should be treated equal, still they keep on aggressively attacking a console that's not even there yet.
In fact, the only people who have the right to be upset are people like me who actually want the Neo; I've been waiting for a new piece of hardware because I've felt the PS4 was underpowered from the get-go, and now I'm finally getting what I want and then Sony already starts shackling the console before I can even order it.
These whiners are told they'll get the exact same experience as they would've gotten otherwise, yet they can't cope with the fact that someone else will have a new shiny piece of hardware. It's plain old envy that's been fueling this discussion; "when my neighbor buys a bigger tv than I have, my TV that I was happy with till today, is worthless to me", that kind of 3 y.o's behavior. These people are collectively getting mad because they don't want others to have something if they can't have it, and seem to be proud of it as well fps!
If they can choose between them getting $10 and me getting $15, or the both of us getting $5, they'll choose the latter... They're letting their jealousy getting the upper hand and aren't thinking rationally.
Unfortunately I couldn't listen to it because I'm at the office, but I dig your new haircut @get2sammyb !! You look so fresh and handsome compared to how you looked in the intro! I love it.
I'm positive lots of Vita owners will go out and buy themselves a back up one, just in case... I know I did a while back.
When the Vita launched and I was gaming on its beautiful OLED screen I can remember myself mumbling "Nintendo is doomed", I was so wrong. A world where the Vita sells less than the 3ds, or PSP for that matters, is a world I have more and more trouble with to understand; gaming is changing and I have problems adapting...
@stocko Easy there tiger! I must have missed it because of the earlier mentioned problems with stock in the countries where I live or which I visit. I remember we didn't get part 2 so I never checked if part 3 was avaliable online. But I'm sure there wasn't a localized version in any of the game shops I visited, cause then I would've bought it. I'll go online now and check if it's available for a decent price.
@Bazza78 I wasn't being too serious anyway, I get where you're coming from. For me this is one of the few games I'd pre order blindly based on the dev alone; even if it's just a reskin of deadnation, I'm still game tbh.
That said, a Resogun sequel would be more than welcome! I've spend so many hours on that game and no matter when I pick it up, I always enjoy myself! I've played Stardust till my fingers bled as well, both on the Vita and the PS3. Stardust HD is the only reason actually that I pull out the ol' 3D goggles once in a while, somehow it adds to the experience...wearing the futuristic looking glasses more than the 3D effect, but who cares?
These are great times to be a gamer! We're spoiled with games like Enter the Gungeon, Salt and Sanctuary and Alienation that ask relatively so little money for what they bring to the table. The only reason I wouldn't buy Alienation straight away is because of the backlog; it's not just the earlier mentioned titles, but with Ratchet and Clank, Severed, DS3 and Quantum Break I'm having more games than I can ever play it seems
@Flaming_Kaiser A friend of mine told me this earlier today, but Sony hasn't acknowledged it apparently. They can state whatever they like, but it's been hard to buy one for well over a year already, not just in the Netherlands; if you look at all the sales at big retailers in Western Europe to clear their Vita stock you can tell the Vita is being phased out.
Some big retailers in Holland have been practically giving away Vita games, the few they had in stock that is, and about a year or more ago you could buy the newer model Vitas for about €100 in Germany. I actually bought quite a few back then, for friends and one backup model for myself, but it did make me quite sad to see Amazon f.e. selling off these Action Packs for €100 which are easily worth double.
I don't think we'll even see OP: Burning Blood on the Vita in the west, we didn't get the One Piece Musou games either on the Vita. Such a shame Sony is letting the Vita die, it's the best handheld I've ever owned. And what even saddens me more is that I'll never see the Vita 2 I so desperately hoped for; a Vita with more horsepower, new OLED screens and 2 triggers. Ah well, maybe Nintendo will finally surprise us with a handheld that doesn't make me want to cut my hands off after playing for 15 minutes.
@get2sammyb
I didn't say you did. But coming from Ken's 7, a 3/10 is remarkable to say the least, although I couldn't agree more with you personally. Capcom's approach for their mobile division is pretty much the same as they're showing on the console front: try to squeeze all of the juice that's still left in the IPs as much as possible and after they've milked it dry they'll probably sell what's left to the highest bidder.
I can't believe so many gamers choose to side with a retired dev, just because they can't stand the thought of others playing the same game on a better resolution or framerate. At first I thought I had to explain that this would only mean that the other console would have a better performance but the base console would play all games just fine like it does now, so that they didn't have to worry.... Turns out gamers are so upset because they don't want people that want to spend the money on it to have a new shiny toy that's better than theirs!
The people who just recently bought a PS4 are the funniest of the bunch: "well, that's just great! I figured my console would last me 7 years and now people will have consoles with better performance already: I might as well buy a PC". First of all: NO, PC gaming with its millions upon millions different setups isn't anyway near 2 Xboxes and 2 PS4s for devs. The consoles will still have an optimized and closed environment and with the x86 architecture games will easily scale; the new PS4k will be hamstrung by the base model if anything because no publisher will leave a 40 million install base behind. And second of all, and this is the part that annoys me most: those people that are crying foul now didn't mind not having a PS4 when it was 1 or even 2 years on the market! They didn't adopt early, which is their choice and which I totally respect, but now they somehow feel bad about not having the latest tech?? Come on!?
A new PS4k would be great, especially for people who don't always want to have the latest tech or people who don't have a lot of money. The 'original PS4' will soon be even more affordable as it is now so families who just want a Netflix box and minecraft are more inclined to get one, maybe infecting one of the members of the family with the gaming- virus in the process. And, and this is why I'm such a vocal supporter of PS4k, people in 3rd world- and upcoming countries will have a better chance to buy a PS4 within the next couple of years. Not only will the PS4k enlarge the potential consumer base tremendously, it will also give these people a console which they can use longer than in the old days.
The PS360 era was an anomaly and console cycles usually don't take that long. In the old system consoles would shift to new architectures and even if consoles were BC, new games for those consoles WEREN'T compatible with the old console; so if you didn't have the cash or interest to switch, your gaming options became very slim, very fast. If we have new iterations every 3 years based on the same architecture, our 'base console' will still be able to play indies and less taxing games 10 years from now. And this is were the Bioware dude is wrong: for devs it will be a whole lot easier in the long run to make "legacy" games (think sports games f.e.) for the millions of 'base PS4' owners with 1 architecture that saw 3 iterations, than for 2 entirely different architectures!
We didn't get cutting edge technology for our $399 and I can't believe some people still think they did. Sony and MS realized that the old days of funding their hardware are over, especially when the margins on software are getting so much smaller and software sales declining year over year. The industry has to take this step or else it'll be over before you know it. This isn't just about building a library that is still fully compatible in 10 years or having the latest piece of tech, this is about me not wanting to play games on my phone exclusively in 2020 because Sony, Nintendo and MS realized they can make much more with mobile games with way less risk involved.
Dark Souls clothing? I can't imagine anyone interested in DS branded apparel to be honest. Tight pants with inward spikes and a venomous snake for a belt, a hooded sweater with a hoodie made from an old rusty wrecking ball, hot coal socks and to top it off an actual cut off pig's head that's been rotting for weeks as a hat....
I do have an awesome slogan if they ever were to make branded clothes for business men though: 'Prepare to tie'
@ekreig Indeed it was... When I read this article I was already wondering if it was "Ballsack's" laugh they were talking about. That's pronounced 'ball-sack'.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I must say that his exclusion doesn't bother me, but the reason they're giving does. I am afraid they're taking UC in the wrong direction and making it less Indiana Jones and more The Last of Us. The way that Neil Druckman always talks about this game makes me think he's trying to force a deep and emotional narrative onto this happy- go- lucky psychopath with a death wish.
We'll see, the wait is almost over! And because it's ND it'll be getting 9+s all across the board anyway, so for Sony I think it's going to be a huge succes; their first blockbuster this gen has kept us waiting and longing for so long, that it'll outsell every other installment I think.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi His character model was ready and I'd like to think he was in the world of UC4 at least once, filling up half the screen; his end came before the game even hit the store shelves (he probably was in a build when it should've launched though!).
Thank God that hippo Elena is still in. (Hahah, messing with the self- image of girls who read this )
@Bazza78
I probably have to experience it myself to know certain, but Quantum Break and Rise of the Tomb Raider seem to look just as good as UC4. Gameplay wise I even feel that Crystal Dynamics set the bar with their latest effort and ND is the one that has to follow. I'll probably like UC4's story better because it suits me more, but RotTR did really surpirise me in a positive way.
If UC4 turns out to look as good or better than QB and plays like RotTR I'm an happy chappie!
@Bazza78 Apart from one little problem with collision detection, I haven't run into any bugs or something, it's purely the framerate/ frame- pacing that's been bugging me. And just to be clear: we've managed to play through all the Souls games before, where framerates at times were so awful it was just best to stick to a wall and keep on staring at it, so it's not unplayable...but it's clear this engine isn't made with the One in mind.
There might be a day One patch () on the way, but I'm pretty sure these problems will remain, because they always did with the other games. You could say it's a part of the Dark Souls experience, but I think it's a real shame. And although some of the Vistas are gorgeous, I honestly can't say the game is a graphical powerhouse; the character models haven't been updated since Demon Souls it seems.
@themcnoisy
After DS3 I think they'll take a break from Dark Souls for a while. They apparently still have 1 game left on their contract with Sony, so a Bloodborne 2 or Demon Souls 2 would seem the most logical next step, but after that it's anybody's guess!
I'd like them to revisit Ninja Blade as well and mix it with Armored Core and the souls series. I know this sounds like madness, but imagine a game where you can build your own Ninja mechs which you can upgrade throughout the entire playthrough. Make the game as tough as Dark Souls but choose a more futuristic setting, or a feudal Japanese setting where Ninja mechs land after they've been ported from another dimension, and I'm aboard before even seeing the first trailer.
@Bazza78 The real problem isn't that it can't hold a steady framerate at certain parts of the game, parts where it usually doesn't matter what gives to think it can be ironed out given some more time, the real problem is frame- pacing. Simply put that's From wanting to give us 30 images per second, but placing them wrong, probably because it tries to copy a frame the moment it has to drop another. So in an ideal situation when 'Frame C' has to be dropped because the PS4 can't handle it, it copies 'Frame B' so we won't notice, like this: A, B, B, D, E, etc., but in reality you'll get: A, B, D, E, B, F etc. So if this happens let's say 6 times in a second, your eyes don't pick up frames that are dropped, it notices how the sequence of these frames isn't right.
Frame- pacing has been a huge issue with this engine, just like we saw in BloodBorne, and especially in a game where precise combat matters so much it's a shame to see that devs can't seem to cage their desire to make the most beautiful game possible in favor of performance. This is exactly why I'd like a PS4.5 so much, because then I know they won't be able to put the hardware to its limits because of the base PS4 and my framerate will benefit greatly because of it.
There are several ways to tackle these problems, but From simply chooses not to, which I really find disappointing. I'm one of those people who couldn't wait and is playing the game on the One now, where the game is an absolute mess technically. It's such a shame, because framerate/ frame pacing issues aside, gaming doesn't get any better than this.
No need convincing me, I'm all in!
For all y'all haters that still don't get it: by the time the base PS4 won't be able to run the latest software, your precious 5 years of consolelife will be long over and you can buy the second revision. Do you honestly think that, maybe 1 Sony exclusive and 3 or 4 indies aside, publishers are gonna abandon the 50million+ userbase? Of course they won't! Games will be forward and backward compatible, else they'll never make money.
And for people who joined the PS4 club just recently and won't get their 5 years of console life: till you bought a PS4 the PS3 was all you got, why are you complaining?? If you don't have a problem not having cutting edge tech, which is shown by you not adopting the console within the first months, you can't keep on crying foul. And the fun part is that you'll probably get more comparible games on your base console with an upgrade every 3 years after 6 years, than if the PS5 drops after the PS4 has been 5 years on the market... Just think about it!
The PS360 gen was an anomaly and only happened because the hardware they launched with was so expensive that they had to make the money back somehow; normal console cycles won't last that long. With a PC like structure you'll have far more compatible games on your "old" PS4 5 years from now because lots of games won't need hardware with a different architecture: in the end the people who don't need cutting edge tech AND people who can't afford it win!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 115
@Sanquine

I know that you're on NeoGaf 24/7, so you've probably heard already, but are you gonna report on the Crash Easter Egg in UC4? Or are you honoring the official release date?
It seems an announcement of a reboot of some sorts this e3 is inevitable!

Re: PSN's Raking in More Cash Than the Entirety of Nintendo
@Neolit
Re: Reaction: Nintendo NX's 2017 Date Frees Disposable Income for PlayStation VR and PS4K

Re: Review: Alienation (PS4)
So much wonderful game for so little money. Housemarque can't do no wrong in my book; they always deliver action packed arcadey goodness which is easy to pick up, but so hard to master. Between this, Enter the Gungeon and Salt 'n Sanctuary I don't even have time for Dark Souls.

Re: Soapbox: Sony Needs to Set the Record Straight on PS4K Soon
@andreoni79 @andreoni79
Lol, Mediterranean people talking bout their poverty always crack me up.
Re: More Final Fantasy XV Ultimate Collector's Editions are Incoming, Says Square Enix
@WanderingBullet
Re: Now We've Truly Reached the End of an Era
@get2sammyb
Re: Now We've Truly Reached the End of an Era
That twin-stick shooter tho!
Re: Review: Enter the Gungeon (PS4)
@k_andersen
Re: More Final Fantasy XV Ultimate Collector's Editions are Incoming, Says Square Enix

Re: Soapbox: Sony Needs to Set the Record Straight on PS4K Soon
@whywai88
Re: There's Talk That PS4 Exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn Has Been Delayed

Re: Soapbox: Sony Needs to Set the Record Straight on PS4K Soon
@Napples
At a certain point Sony will allow for devs to make games that are better on Neo (but probably still playable on the old PS4), but you need to understand that it isn't very likely that the big publishers will neglect a 40- 50 million base- PS4 gamers install base just like that.
Re: Soapbox: Sony Needs to Set the Record Straight on PS4K Soon
@sub12
That's the point: is it really "inferior" if it's exactly the same version as you've been given otherwise??
Re: Save Big This Spring with European PlayStation Store Sale
Re: Soapbox: Sony Needs to Set the Record Straight on PS4K Soon

Easy there tiger!
Re: It's Time to Pick Your Class in Bombastic PS4 Shooter Alienation
@Bazza78
I wasn't being too serious anyway, I get where you're coming from.
Re: How Does One Piece: Burning Blood Look on Vita?
@Flaming_Kaiser
A friend of mine told me this earlier today, but Sony hasn't acknowledged it apparently.

Re: Review: Resident Evil 6 (PS4)
@get2sammyb
Re: Review: Resident Evil 6 (PS4)
Wow, how 3.5 years and a lick of paint can destroy a game! RE6 got a lot more love when it came out on PS3 on PS
Re: PS4K Would Be a Gigantic Pain in the Ass, Reckons BioWare Founder
Re: People Are Going Daft Over Dark Souls III Clothing
Dark Souls clothing? I can't imagine anyone interested in DS branded apparel to be honest. Tight pants with inward spikes and a venomous snake for a belt, a hooded sweater with a hoodie made from an old rusty wrecking ball, hot coal socks and to top it off an actual cut off pig's head that's been rotting for weeks as a hat....
I do have an awesome slogan if they ever were to make branded clothes for business men though:

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi
I must say that his exclusion doesn't bother me, but the reason they're giving does.
Re: Naughty Dog's Ditching Doughnut Drake in Uncharted 4
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi
His character model was ready and I'd like to think he was in the world of UC4 at least once, filling up half the screen; his end came before the game even hit the store shelves (he probably was in a build when it should've launched though!).

Apart from one little problem with collision detection, I haven't run into any bugs or something, it's purely the framerate/ frame- pacing that's been bugging me.

The real problem isn't that it can't hold a steady framerate at certain parts of the game, parts where it usually doesn't matter what gives to think it can be ironed out given some more time, the real problem is frame- pacing.
Re: So, the PS4K Has Been Under Our Nose All Along
