Call of Duty Continues to Handle PS5 Trophies in the Worst Way Possible

I’m really not the biggest COD fan, last game I played in the series was Black Ops 3 and that was really because of the awesome Zombie Maps, but I think the way the Platinum Trophy (or lack of) is being handled is not good for the majority of players that like unlocking completions with a Platinum. People I know who are trophy hunters tend to play the PS4 versions of these games nowadays as that has been a way to get a platinum at the end of their sessions and I can imagine that most of them will go for the PS4 version again.

Even though I have zero interest in CoD, my heart goes out for my trophy and achievement hunting brethren who are now literally forced to play this to preserve 100% completion. Platform holders need to force any and all dlc and multiplayer components of otherwise ostensibly single player games into separate SKU’s, which can then be avoided by anyone not wishing to play them.

It’s like the Wild West as far as trophies and achievements are concerned; a no man’s land where any publisher can get away with anything from supremely tedious collect-a-thon’s to extraneous game modes shoehorned in post-launch that have nothing to do with the core experience to ‘kill ten thousand players in a single match without getting hit on a Tuesday when mercury is in retrograde’ absurd levels of trophy difficulty. We need law and order.

What is the benefit of a call of duty launcher? Seems a strange setup to an outsider, are all the games linked in some way? And why did mw3 get kicked out lol. Guess I need to look up some cod lore.

Exactly. I really dislike when single player experiences at launch are then weeks or months later, given some pointless NG+ extreme hard mode trophy set.. or worse yet shoehorned in random multiplayer mode. I'm looking at you Ghost of Tsushima (and many others). That was a fantastic single player campaign which I platinumed and sat at 100% until the pointless multiplayer came out. Don't get me wrong, it's great if others enjoy that stuff, but for the love of god, why can't it just be a separate trophy list if you want to play the multiplayer mode.

I don't understand what the devs are thinking with the way CoD is handled on PS5, or how Sony allows it. I recently got a code for BO6 and I don't even know how to play the game because it appears in my collection simply as "Call of Duty" with the BO7 artwork. When I select it, it then prompts me to select either the PS4 or PS5 version of "Call of Duty Zombies". Meanwhile, all I care about is the campaign mode. It's so unintuitive. And the trophy situation is absolutely ridiculous. How do the devs not know that no one wants this?

Luckily, it doesn’t matter as I won’t be picking this up. Having an absolute blast with Battlefield.

@Balaam_ Sorry you’re getting responses that seem oddly aggressive. I’m not sure where the hostility is coming from. If I read you right, you only want to play games that you would enjoy playing to 100%. So you do that, and then additional trophies are added at a later date that don’t just expand the game, but change the very nature of the gameplay. Is that right?

I don’t care about getting 100%, but if you think of that metric the same way many people do about platinum trophies (just as arbitrary an achievement) I can certainly imagine an uproar over having a platinum trophy revoked because dlc was added—especially if the dlc introduced and required a new style of play.

It's really crappy for those who like the series.

I personally hate it and haven't bothered with the series for around 10 years and was genuinely surprised they're on black ops 7 already.

They all played exactly the same in my experience and didn't find the story in any apart from modern warfare 1 and black ops 1 engaging

@KidRisky hear hear mate. 👏 nothing wrong with keeping a 100% profile many do it. I’m sure there are people out there who would have brought MW2 reboot, enjoyed the game, got their 100-% and thought sweet! Onto the next. 5 games later they are still having to buy games they are probably now bored of to keep a profile that they’ve had for donkeys years at 100%. Absolute joke Activison are for this
