As much as I'd like to be playing Creed Shadows, money is a bit tight right now so I'll gonna buy a month of cough Gamepass. Not going to be able to play all of these that I want to play in one month lol:
Atomfall Avowed Sniper Elite Resistance Ninja Gaiden black 2 Indiana Jones Eternal strands Flintlock Goldeneye 64 Mythwrecked Stalker 2 Still wakes the deep
I had this game, I couldn't get very far in it but was impressed by it's graphics for sure. It wasn't very experienced with jrpgs on ps1 and used to action replay my way through a lot of them so maybe I'd fare better now unless it was just a very hard game.
Yes, I cheated on Final Fantasy VII and VIII, but did IX without, although I'm told that game isn't as hard.
Me and my partner enjoy a lot of couch co-op games, like Stardew, Wargroove, Final Vendetta, A Way Out.. but the idea of using our phones as controllers is a big turn off..
@BAMozzy What are you on about! If that was true then all physical games would say requires an internet connection for installation like Star Wars Outlaws does but 99% of them do not.
As someone else mentioned there is a website and here's the link, look at how many games they tested offline that do work:
@Flitzpiepe What country do you live in? In the UK to my knowledge there is no copy of spyro that states no download required on the sleeve. Except for the crash kart double pack.
Look at these on eBay, they all say download required on the front, people had to see discs inside for the year to know if it was all on the disc or not as some copies were complete but with new copies i wasn't going to be able to tell. It's all documented online.
@Deadlyblack is it definitely the game though and not the laser going on the console? That's another thing I don't think anyone has mentioned, and that is eventually all consoles will die anyway lol
@Titntin That does surprise me, I can't help but wonder what sort of places they were stored in, maybe just inside houses and not in the loft or garage, but there's just so many variables anyway that we could have the same album on CD but made in different factories/countries and so on.
@Flitzpiepe Peeled off! I've never seen that before! I have seen discs with rough edges before though, maybe that could happen to them. I'm surprised at it being Nirvana though, me and my partner have loads of 90s CDs from around that time with no issues. At least Nirvana's Nevermind has been reissued several times over the years. It'll be bad if albums that have been long deleted start going.
@Flitzpiepe I'm curious what CDs they are! As I said elsewhere I've only seen some bronzing and some with slight rot that were poorly stored in a warehouse somewhere that i got off eBay. But my 1987 Soup Dragons looks perfect and plays perfectly. It might depend on what factory it was made in and materials used etc i suppose. Funny thing i just noticed is there's the Warner Bros logo on it!
The only disc rot I've experienced so far is a "bronzing" effect on a handful of 80s CDs but they play fine. Oh wait that's not true, I've bought a couple of early 90s CDs off big ebay sellers that have been stored poorly and had scratches from misuse and they had final tracks that had distortion noises on playback. That just shows how important it is to treat your discs with care and away from cold and damp places!
@MrGawain Does it clean off if you use something appropriately wet? Just asking because my old deep space nine dvds in the slimline cases would get all cloudy and I'd have to clean them, and my brother's did the same. It's the cases affecting them oddly. I bought the newer boxset and all discs are fine now for years.
Still bitter I was making a game I'd called Limbo as the title wasn't used and halfway through making it, the actual Limbo game was announced. Then I stubbornly renamed it "Limbo the Adventure Game", which I shouldn't have. I was just so attached to the name!
@Northern_munkey as I said, amateur made! My pc only game Detective Boiled-Hard on steam is better, because it's intentionally funny. I have made vastly superior graphics since then but no finished game to show.
@Northern_munkey I have come across the developer of those lady in the pink leotard with a gun games and they post about their games with passion, it makes me think they're not actually a shovelware dev but just very amateur.
Which shows Sony would have to be careful when separating shovelware from amateur titles, like my own game Trails and Traces.
A) I enjoying having a curated collection on my shelf
And
B) I'm frequently selling games I don't wish to keep on to cex but with digital I only buy much cheaper titles because I don't want to gamble on something I might not like and regret it.
I played Broken Sword 2 first, and I don't know if that's why it's my favourite of the first two, but considering they had a successful Kickstarter for the first one it was only a matter of time, surely. Yay!
Oh yeah, I remember being winning my Broken Sword PS1 game from a magazine, official playstation magazine perhaps.
@Deljo I think you're confusing amateur production with a game purely made to make money with as little effort as possible. And that other person calling Ratalaika a shovelware company, they published Chasing Static and Guard Duty, two pretty good games. They do release a lot of cheapo indie titles but they're generally not the same level of crap as those actual shovelware companies.
I can imagine if I ever released another game on psn it will have very poor visibility due to all the supermarket simulators
Someone once called my own game Trails and Traces shovelware, like as if anyone would make a point and click adventure game as shovelware when it requires meticulous planning.
@TheTraditional I doubt I will even experience disc rot occurring to my discs in my lifetime, I have music CDs from the late 80s that are perfectly fine, but I have seen disc rot from discs bought second hand. I think they were just stored under poor conditions.
I think AI could actually be beneficial especially for indie devs, if it was used for smaller details such as generating textures, uv mapping, code, that kind of thing. As in indie dev myself I wouldn't want AI to make my game for me, I would derive no satisfaction from that.
But most likely ai will be largely only used by the big corporations to save money like others are saying.
@TheStormGL I'm not even entirely sure which of the three you think is a AAA production game, but if you mean It Takes Two, I am pretty sure it's not a AAA production, and I have played it.
I don't believe any of them are AAA games, and certainly none of them had AAA price tags attached to them.
I've played all of these games bar infinite wealth and the Japanese only ones and never again, so 0/10 for me and I've played them since the very beginning on PS2. Not gonna feel bad for not remembering this useless information haha.
I really enjoyed Syndicate, it's the only original style Creed I feel like playing through again, even if i did enjoy a bunch from before that. Must be the setting. I love the cRPGeed games though. Yeah that's probably not a word that will catch on.
I never got around to buying Dying light 2, I knew it was going to be a better game than the first one, but as I just couldn't get into the first one after trying it a second time years later, I was hesitant to buy 2. So yay me haha.
I liked Blood Omen 2 back in the day, but it was definitely a weaker Kain title, so I can't imagine it has held up well at all but still neat to take that trip down forgotten PS2 memory lane.
I've not played a Digimon game since PS1 days so will give it a go.
Overall a stronger month for me personally than the previous month.
@Dom_31 honestly, I don't think it's a good starting point, especially given it's a paintover of old an older game, it really shows in the game design. It's by no means a bad game, I just couldn't get into it and I LOVE feudal Japan themes AND Yakuza games..
I didn't notice it but apologies if someone did mention this, but an untrackable statistic would be the number of physical games sold as second hand goods such as in cex. Given this is a statistic of how many people use their disc drives for games, I think it's an important thing to consider. Around 80% of the physical games I buy are pre-owned.
I agree about the other points people made about how digital sales are counted and how not everyone will solely buy one or the other. I buy loads of indie games digitally.
@CielloArc Gaiden is the only DD game I actually like! Me and my wife have played a lot of side scrolling beat em ups so we're cautiously interested in this new one.
I took most of the tabs off, the controller icon and storage space is good so I kept them on, but as a single player person I turned off friends and stuff.
Funnily enough I picked up Dishonored 2 on PS4 in a charity shop last month for £1.50. played it before but sold it when it was still worth selling.
I've been playing Star Ocean Second Story R, followed a guide to fast level because back on PS1 it was too hard.. but now there's this easy mode I've made it a breeze lol, oh well I'm still having fun.
Dead Island 2 (Already played before) Two Point Campus (Meh) The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me (Meh) GRIS (what's this again lol) Return to Monkey Island (got it physically) Ghostbusters: Spirit Unleashed (Meh) Firefighting Simulator: The Squad (Meh) Overpass 2 (Hmm maybe I'll like it) Tour de France 2023 (Meh) Ghost Recon: Wildlands (Played, don't like it) Dino Crisis (Will play for probably 5 mins lol) Siren (I hated this game's mechanics) R-Type Dimensions EX (Think i played it before, will try again)

Re: Indiana Jones PS5's Physical Release Requires You to Download the Game
@BAMozzy That's not what you said though is it, I've made my point anyway.
Indeed though, my Stardew Valley disc would contain a very old single player only game. I am aware of this.
Re: Indiana Jones PS5's Physical Release Requires You to Download the Game

Obviously some games will be buggier than others but you couldn't be more wrong about them all needing the internet.

Far from my favourite point and click though, would love to see Simon the sorcerer ported! Or the original Beneath a steel sky.

SS trial failed to engage me in its opening tutorial so I deleted it, but hey ho might as well give the full game a try I suppose.
NFS, I think I have played this remaster before with an EA Access sub, plus I played the original back in the day.
Stanley, I played the original version years ago, might as well see what's new about this version.

My second favourite Tales game, first being Vesperia and third being Xillia 1. A welcome remaster and appreciate the quality of life additions.
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for November 2024 Announced
Ghostwire was a 6/10 for me too, didn't bother finishing it physically, not going to give it a second chance.
The death note game doesn't interest me in the slightest.
So that leaves Hot Wheels. I like arcade racers so I will give it a go, that's the only thing of any interest to me here, 1 is better than none right!

Re: 14 More Games Join PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week
Dead Island 2 (Already played before)

Return to Monkey Island (got it physically)
Ghostbusters: Spirit Unleashed (Meh)
Firefighting Simulator: The Squad (Meh)
Overpass 2 (Hmm maybe I'll like it)
Tour de France 2023 (Meh)
Ghost Recon: Wildlands (Played, don't like it)
Dino Crisis (Will play for probably 5 mins lol)
Siren (I hated this game's mechanics)
R-Type Dimensions EX (Think i played it before, will try again)
So yeah, pretty underwhelming month for me.
