Final Fantasy 9 Remake CG Art

Right, we need words with Square Enix after this one.

The latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu features some new CG art for Final Fantasy 9, which has rekindled all of that remake speculation from earlier in the month.

Just a couple of weeks back, the all-time PS1 classic celebrated its 25th anniversary, and with so many remake reports and rumours doing the rounds, many fans had assumed that the official announcement was finally happening.

Except it didn't, and Square Enix has been silent on the Final Fantasy 9 front ever since... until now, and the advent of this particularly teasing magazine cover.

So, is there actually anything to this? Could Famitsu spill the beans? Nah, probably not — but that won't stop people from connecting the (increasingly distant) dots.

Admittedly, we can't help but glance at September's Tokyo Game Show; surely all of this fuss can't amount to little more than anniversary merchandise. The wait goes on, we suppose...
