Re: Rumour: God of War Ragnarok Will Have 60fps, 30fps Options on PS5

@Discol76 They're related but different. FPS is the number of frames of animation that are being rendered per second by your system or console. HZ is the number of times your monitor or TV refreshes the image on the screen per second. If a game is running at 30fps then that means your PlayStation is rendering 30 images of the game per second. If your monitor or TV is 60hz then that means your monitor can refresh its image 60 times per second; so, if your PlayStation is rendering a game at 120fps and your screen is 60hz then you'll only see a 60fps image with about every other frame of animation not appearing on your screen.

That doesn't mean you need to run out and buy a 4k 120hz monitor, though. That's probably overkill in most instances and it may not even meet your wants or needs. Most systems (and even high-end PCs) can't consistently hit 4k 120fps, let alone 4k 60fps. If you value a high frame rate, go with something with a high refresh rate. If you value image quality, go with 4k. For myself, I don't really care that much about anything above 60fps, but I love high resolution and color accuracy, so I went with a 4k 60hz color-accurate IPS monitor.

In the end, to each his/her own.

Re: Uncharted Movie Plunders Netflix from 15th July

Full confession, I bought the Lost Legacy upgrade and got a free ticket to see this movie in theaters... and I never went. Hahaha! The movie looked so average to me. I kept thinking, "Why would I see a mediocre movie version of fantastic games that I already own?"

Re: Microsoft Bigwig Implies PS5 Is Losing Marketshare to Xbox

To my memory, I don't remember a console this good struggling this hard to get off of the ground. COVID threw an unprecedented wrench into its launch and who knows when this stock shortage will finally end. If it's any consolation, a couple of my friends have seen GPUs in stock and on the shelves at a few stores in the past couple of weeks, so there might actually be a light at the end of this stock shortage tunnel, but we're probably still a ways out.

Celeste and Super Meat Boy are about as far as I can go into "trial and error" territory. I even dipped out of Hollow Knight partway through because it got frustrating and (I'm going to get so much crap for saying this) boring. The older I get the less time I have to devote to games where their shtick is "get good." Sometimes I can't devote the time and energy to get good, nor am I willing to pay money for an experience like that.

Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4

It kind of bugs me when people hop on here and say, "Oh well. I didn't play CoD anyway." You don't understand. This could honestly be the beginning of the end of the console wars, and Microsoft is looking to become the final winner. Sony really may become solely a software developer and only release their games on PC. There's no competition when one company owns them all. This sucks so much. I wouldn't be surprised if PS5 was the last PlayStation-made console.

Re: Microsoft Buys Call of Duty Publisher Activision Blizzard

I don't play any of the CoD games, but this is going to have huge repercussions if this deal isn't blocked by the courts. CoD has almost always been one of the best-selling franchises on PS consoles. This could be a huge hit to Sony's pockets if Microsoft makes CoD and Xbox exclusive. I don't see why they wouldn't.
