SEGA really dropped the ball earlier this week when it officially announced Sonic Origins. The remastered collection should be cause for celebration — it sounds like a great way to experience Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles back-to-back — but the reveal was marred by a meme-worthy DLC chart, which we've embedded below.
Basically, said chart outlines the numerous bonuses that you can get through purchasing two different versions of the base game alongside three DLC packs. It's something that's already been met with heavy criticism from fans, but it's Devolver Digital's retort that's worth highlighting.
While the popular publisher's tweet isn't aimed directly at SEGA or Sonic, it's clearly taking the p*ss:
Trek to Yomi is a samurai cinema-inspired action title coming to both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 next month. As expected of Devolver Digital, it's a shrewd social media move that both draws attention to its own game, and condemns the kind of dumb business decisions that bigger publishers are sometimes drawn to.

i seriously hope SEGA listens to fans about their DLC practices on Sonic Origins and changes it. As someone who is really hyped for this game, this whole backlash made me irritated and sad.

In all honesty, really looking forward to playing this one. I’ve read that the game is relatively short, will be on Gamepass (cue the death stares), and, in previews, it sounds like the combat is fun and cinematic. While I’m still nowhere near done with Elden Ring, Stanley Parable and Trek to Yomi will be fun “side quests,” hopefully!

I wasn't interested in Sonic Origins before, but their release model makes it certain that I won't be buying...
As for Trek to Yomi, I may give it a go because its available on Game Pass, but I was never going to buy it regardless.
PushSquare, it's hard to understand your headlines sometimes, would be okay if game titles were highlighted in all caps or blue or italic. Because right now, wondering if Sonic has a DLC called Stupid or you're calling it stupid and is Devolver trekking to Yomi...
Collection should have been £29.99 and one version alone. Just give the fans the best experience

I am looking forward to both Trek to Yomi and Sonic Origins but this is simply brilliant! Well played Devolver well played. I love Sega but sometimes they just can't help but shoot themselves in the foot. Hopefully they learned something here.

Not a fan of the way Sega is nickel and diming fans. They should also have added Sonic Spinball (Gen) and the five main Game Gear games; S1, S2, S Chaos, S Triple Trouble and Spinball (for kicks).

April fools day, but a late one. Camera animation in the main menu (& during music islands) + camera controls over the main menu islands, … this is so weird. Just 1 complete edition for an anniversary!
