At this point, no. I got my PS5 3 years ago and I just cannot recommend it. I have completely stopped buying my games on PlayStation and exclusively purchase games on PC and Switch. Every games that Sony makes goes to PC now, the price has gone up instead of down, and the the lack of portability is the nail in the coffin for me. I just use my PS5 to play my PS4 games when I do turn it on, but the PS5 will be my last Sony console.

I can't wait to play this on the Switch 2.

I really enjoyed Spider-Man 2018, but I couldn't bring myself to pick this game up. It all just looked the same to me. I find myself playing more indie games that try something new and experimental rather than AAA games that all start to feel the same.

Remember when PlayStation put out that cheeky YouTube video tutorial on how to share your games with friends? Oh how the times have changed.

@Deoxyr1bose 1000% agree with you. The PS5 is my last Sony console. At this point, if you have a PC of any kind and Nintendo's next console, you'll be able to play pretty much every game under the sun.

Lonely, emotionally shut off dad verbally abusing his son in the process of learning to show affection while chopping monsters in half isn't what I would call intelligent. Right, but I refuse to spend $850 to play a last-gen game. Especially when I already played it on the PS4, and it looked great four years ago.

No matter how big this game is, it's going to basically be impossible to meet expectations. This is Avatar. Arguably the greatest TV show of all time with some of the biggest and most devoted fans. The TV show set the bar WAAAAAAAAY too high. Hahaha!

At what point does the "innovation" amount to AAA games even releasing?

@Ralizah I'm sure there are loads of reasons, but I think it comes down to the astronomical cost of a photorealistic game. I think it's kind of insane how Sony wants people to buy a $850 console to play games they release maybe once every year, and 5-8 years per development studio. It's a financial model that is just aching to implode on itself.

I mean, I would review bomb this game for its awful pacing and repetitive gameplay, but that's just me.

At this rate, no one is going to need a PS6 because the only games that will be release on it are PS5 game remasters... which are just PS4 games.

@Artois2 They both play almost all the same third-party games. Yes, I am comparing the PS5 Pro to the Switch Lite. One of these consoles is an affordable option to console gaming and the other is a shameless $850 cash grab. Nearly every option to get into console gaming will cost around half or less than half the cost of the PS5 Pro.

@kevinm360 Actually, no, it's not. The price of admission for what? "Pro" visuals for Sony's non-existant first-party library? The VAST majority of games barely even require the power of a PS4 to run perfectly fine. There is a tiny portion of games that need the power of a PS5, and basically nothing that actually NEEDS a PS5 Pro's power. Do you know what the actual price of admission is for console gaming? You can buy a used Nintendo Switch Lite right now for $100. $850 for a PS5 Pro is one of the most tone deaf marketing decisions I have ever seen, let alone how tone deaf some shiz-for-brains millionaire sounds saying it's "worth the cost" at a time when people can barely pay rent and put food on the table.

I feel like the future conversation is going to be less of "console vs PC," and more of "what console do I want in addition to my PC." I could see a lot of people having a PC and a Switch 2 so they can play basically everything on the market instead of PC and PS6, which will play basically the exact same games as each other and will be less cost effective.

Why? Who even cares at this point? Sony is more concerned about taking money from their fans than making games for their fans. Save for Astro Bot and Rift Apart, this has been the most disappointing console generation I have ever seen.

The diminishing returns on this console upgrade are just too much to ignore. Most games still run fine on the PS4, let alone the base PS5. At this rate, there really isn't a need for a PS5 Pro or even a PS6.

Horizon Call of the Mountain = $60

Final Total = $1,370 + tax

Oh boy! What a very affordable and accessible way to get into VR gaming! I can't wait to see slightly sharper grass in my full-price tech demo of a game. 🙄

But seriously, like, 99.9% of games aren't even using the full power of the PS5, let alone the PS4 Pro. This console upgrade is a joke.

@Octaslasher I saw a used Switch Lite on Facebook Marketplace with a game or two included for $150. I'm grateful that there are still ways for people to play games on a budget. I agree with you. I feel like the majority of Sony's fans just got priced out of their own fandom.
