Re: PS5 Pro Will Improve PSVR2 Games

B_Lindz

PS5 Pro = $700
PSVR2 = $500
PS5 Disc Drive = $80
PS5 Stand = $30
Horizon Call of the Mountain = $60

Final Total = $1,370 + tax

Oh boy! What a very affordable and accessible way to get into VR gaming! I can't wait to see slightly sharper grass in my full-price tech demo of a game. 🙄

Re: Talking Point: Is PS5 Pro Way Too Expensive?

B_Lindz

@Octaslasher I saw a used Switch Lite on Facebook Marketplace with a game or two included for $150. I'm grateful that there are still ways for people to play games on a budget. I agree with you. I feel like the majority of Sony's fans just got priced out of their own fandom.

I'm almost positive this box is going to be $700 after adding a disc drive and taxes. I can't wait to get a non-discernably, slightly smoother frame rate for the cost of 3 Nintendo Switch Lites. Especially when it's hard enough to afford rent in today's world.

Re: Reaction: PlayStation Needs to Take a Long, Hard Look at Itself

B_Lindz

I'm just in awe how Sony went from the PS4 generation, one of the best gens and first-party exclusive libraries I have ever seen, to this. The console wars don't matter, but they were in first, and it wasn't even close. Nintendo was face-down in the dirt with the WiiU and Microsoft fumbled the switch from Xbox 360 to the next gen. Look where we are now. Nintendo dusted themselves off, took the bar, and effing sprinted with it, creating possibly the greatest console with the most successful game libraries of all-time. Microsoft continues to fumble, but has a half-decent upcoming release schedule. And Sony? Just, how? They are directionless. Almost every single PS5 game has been either a re-release or sequel riding on the PS4 generation's coattails of originality and creativity. For myself, the PS5 generation has been the most uninspiring and disappointing generation I've experienced. What's the point of ever getting a PS5 Pro or a PS6 if this is what we can expect from Sony?

Re: Big Daddy Expectations Lowered as Netflix Douses BioShock Film Budget

@PegasusActual93 This is simply not true. In interviews, the director explained how they were able to keep the cost of the movie so low.

  • They did everything in house with their team of 35 VFX artist. Studios tend to spend through the nose to outsource their VFX so they get results faster or redone.
  • Their studio did VERY scrappy preproduction. Rather than using CGI for preproduction, they literally had a Godzilla action figure on a blue screen to stage all of their shots. They cut as many corners as they could to save on cost during production.
  • They kept the VFX to a minimum and only had Godzilla on screen when he needed to be. Everything else was character-driven storytelling or they used practical effects.
  • They didn't redo hardly any of the VFX shots. Studios waste tens of millions of dollars because they make whole VFX scenes that get cut or redone due to poor planning in the preproduction stages.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for July 2024?

B_Lindz

@donv2135 A few reason. I like to stay informed, for one, but I also care about the gaming community, especially the Sony community. I used to be subscribed, but I felt it wasn't worth my money once Sony raised the price, and even before them, too. It's nice letting people know the grass is greener once you stop paying for it.

Re: PS5 Hardware Architect Says It May Take Less Time to Build a Console Than a Game Now

B_Lindz

Chasing shiny new graphics has got to be one of the most uninteresting aspect in gaming to me now. I could not care less how many hair strands I can see on the main character or how many rays can be traced. It's a stupid waste of time and resources, and it only makes game development longer and more expensive.

Great games stand the test of time because they great games, not because they look real. Great art direction and great game design will ALWAYS trump photorealism. I would take the visuals of Persona 5: Royal, Hi-Fi Rush, and Hollow Knight over God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon: Forbidden West 10 out of 10 times, without question. In 10 years, photorealistic games look old and outdated, but games with superb art direction and design will forever stand the test of time.

Re: Poll: Are You Hyped for Summer Game Fest 2024?

B_Lindz

@mctaboo Dude, seriously? If you think only 5 good games have come out in the past 3 years then you need to seriously branch out more. Indie games are better than they have ever been before with creativity shooting out of their butts. If you think gaming sucks right now then you are BARELY even trying to find good games.

Re: Key Sony Exec Gives Eye-Opening Quotes on the Future of PlayStation and Gaming

B_Lindz

YEEEEEEEES!! This is what I've wanted Sony to do, but I gave up on that dream since they said they only wanted to create "blockbuster" video games. Some of my favorite stories and experiences I have ever experienced in video games weren't photorealistic. Celeste, Persona 5, Nier: Automata, Journey, and The Legend of Zelda are some of my favorite games, but none of them had or even needed the budget Sony blockbuster games have. Hopefully, this also means shorter development times.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal Trailer Is Already the Most Disliked in Series History

B_Lindz

So, I went and read the comments on the game trailer, and, boy-howdy, there are A LOT of pissed off Japanese people. The main complaint from Japanese people is that they feel Ubisoft is tackling cultural appropriation with more cultural appropriation. The art, clothing, customs, etiquette, and architecture are apparently waaaaaaay off the mark in terms of having any historical accuracy.

It seems gone are the days of in-game Notre Dame being so accurate that they can use it to repair the real Notre Dame.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal Trailer Is Already the Most Disliked in Series History

I have no desire to play any AC games, including this one, but I did just read up on Yasuke. He sound like pretty intriguing person, so kudos to Ubisoft for wanting to tell a story about him. We don't really know much about him historically, so his story has already become a mythological in nature, which I think would align him perfectly for this role in a fictional video game. I think this was a smart move on Ubisoft's part, because it they told the story of some anonymous Japanese samurai then it probably wouldn't stand out as much from Ghost of Tsushima, which people are going to inevitably draw comparisons to this new AC game.
