October PlayStation Plus PS Plus Sony Free Games

Oh no! Oh no! Batten down the hatches, adopt the foetal position, and keep out of every PlayStation owner's way – because next month's PlayStation Plus update really is a bad one. There's been plenty of criticism pointed at Sony's service over the past 18 months or so, but we've always felt that there have been redeeming qualities to the selections. This time, though, we're struggling to find one.

Complimentary games are complimentary games at the end of the day, but this is a pretty shocking selection we have to say. Super Meat Boy is the highlight, but it's already been available on other platforms for years. That'll be available on the PlayStation 4 and Vita, as will Broken Age – the Double Fine developed adventure game.

Then you've got an obligatory puzzle platformer in Unmechanical Extended for the PS4 and PS3, rhythm game Kickbeat for the PS3 and Vita, and Kung-Fu Rabbit for the PS3 and Vita. Rounding things out is the PS3 version of Chariot. And that's all she wrote. Please, please, please don't shoot the messenger in the comments section below.
