Update []:

Following the report that Spiders will be shutting down, the studio has now confirmed its status in a statement to its social channels.

Indeed, it's being liquidated, which essentially means it's closing. Following the release of DLC for GreedFall: The Dying World, it will cease all operations:

"We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years," the studio's statement reads. "If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."

It's a shame to see another studio close its doors. We wish everyone on the team the very best.

Original Story: Spiders, the French game studio owned by Nacon, will soon close its doors.

That's according to a new report from Origami, which claims the developer will move into liquidation tomorrow — 29th April 2026 — following serious financial troubles at the publisher.

The report says Nacon had been searching for a buyer for Spiders, but has failed to do so, and will request its liquidation amid financial restructuring plans.

Moving the studio into liquidation is described as a "mere formality at this stage", say sources close to the matter.

Parisian team Spiders is best known for the GreedFall games and its Souls-like action RPG Steelrising, though it's of course made many other titles.

According to this report, the staff are now being instructed to update CVs and engage in self-study sessions rather than working on future projects.

Sadly it does appear that things are winding down at Spiders, which filed for insolvency last month along with other Nacon studios, Kylotonn and Cyanide. The status of those other two teams is not known at this moment.
