Ubisoft has offered up the smallest of updates on the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake.

In a social post, the publisher says it's still "deep in the game", being crafted "by a team that truly cares":

It's not much to go on, but it at least is showing signs of life in the project.

The remake was first announced all the way back in 2020, bringing back the beloved action adventure classic. However, its initial reveal was met with negative reactions, mostly owing to the underwhelming visual design.

Coming from a new studio and with an initial release date of January 2021, it was delayed to March of the same year before being delayed indefinitely.

Eventually, in May 2023, it was announced that development on the remake was effectively starting over, with Ubisoft Montreal taking over from Ubisoft Pune.

It's been very quiet since, with Ubisoft Toronto being drafted in to assist on the game. All we now know is that the game is targeting a launch in 2026.

Hopefully, Ubisoft is able to show more in the coming months, because fans are understandably growing weary after almost five years of waiting.

The series hasn't been standing still, however; last year saw the release of the brilliant Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and The Rogue Prince of Persia fully launches soon, with console versions still to come.
